50% "Popular" Games on Origin

41
RUSHSALE

Just got in the email:

"Be one of the first 8,000 customers and you'll score 50% off your next purchase*."

Use Promo Code: RUSHSALE

I'm not exactly sure what qualifies as "Popular" but the newsletter takes me to:

http://store.origin.com/store/eaapac/en_AU/home/?sourceid=au…

You can read the newsletter online at:

" Offer is not applicable to pre-order titles, points, timecards, Warhammer, Ultima Online and Play4Free items, Warp, Shank 2, The Sims 3 Master Suites Stuff, Mass Effect 3, Mass Effect 3 N7 Digital Deluxe, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, The Sims 3 Showtime, The Sims 3 Plus Showtime, The Sims 3 Showtime Katy Perry Collector's Edition, The Sims 3 Hidden Springs, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand, Battlefield 3 SPECACT Kit & Dog Tag Bundle, Battlefield 3 Promo Bundle, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning - Weapons & Armor Bundle and non-EA published titles including Saints Row The Third, Street Fighter IV and Dead Rising 2: Off The Record."

So… It's valid for "popular" games, except for this list of basically all the popular games…

I want to neg this, but it is a bargain after all to some. The reason for negging is because of all the negative experience I had with Origin. It is just a failed system as compared to Steam and other P2P gaming clients.

You can see the frustration on Reddit, Whirlpool and other forums. So I think this 50% off is just to pull people back into their crappy system and screw us once again! No thanks.

A friend of mine is presently getting screwed by EA. He got double-charged, contacted his bank, they agreed and refunded him one charge and now EA has decided to completely ban him from Origin. He has lost access to /all/ his games and they refuse to talk to him about the issue. They're also very not contactable in Australia.

Wont touch an EA game now. Don't care what it is.

      • gotta make there money back some way for all for all the free games they lost when they had the 2 for one deal ;) or else managment will look bad!

If you really want a EA game dont pay the over inflated prices Origin charge Australian gamers.
Use a site like this http://www.g2play.net/store/home.php

  • Battlefield 2 Complete, only $7.50. Seems like a pretty good deal.

everyone got it for free a few months back

      Dont get Battlefield 2 Complete!!!
Battlefield Bad Company 2 which is the next evolution of Battlefield 3
      On special occasionally for $9.95

      • Um…no it's not. BC2 is the last game prior to Battlefield 3, but BF3 is the newest, and a continuation of the story in BF2, not BC2.

  • Crysis 2 $79.99 ROFL. I just bought it for $9.90 plus shipping on eBay.

  • it brings the bf3 b2k expansion down to $12 which is alright.

    • Isn't B2K listed in the exclusions posted by CarbonTwelve above though?

      • the discount code worked. so idk.

Bah, I'm negging. It's simply false advertising to say there's a sale on 'popular' games and then in the fine print exclude the popular games.

  • +3

Bah, boycott these fools. Overpriced crap on a failed system, which the only way to sucker people into using it is by releasing their crap as exclusive to origin.
Personally I have a shit tonne of other games to play without even looking at another EA game.

FANTASTIC DEAL!!! I'm definitely going to join, right after I shoot myself in the foot and jump in the pool with a 1 tonne rock tied to my neck! Yaaay!

  • +3

Maybe if it wasn't on Origin, I would consider this…
    Screw Origin.

  • I remember when STeam first started it was pretty shit too.

I reckon Origin will improve - not hard I know off a low base - but it will get better over time…

    • Yeah, I agree. But it is annoying that we'll have to have many of these systems running…
