    $179 on Amazon

Also, another shoutout for the Heller as a good cheap alternative <$100:

    • does it include extra bonus stainless steel pot? link please

My apologies, I misread - yours is a good deal with the stainless steel pot!

The Heller I linked comes with a stainless steel pot by default, too.

    • Was the heller one below $100 and I missed it? Showing up as $140 for me

I have the Heller's pressure cooker for a year now. It is very good.

  • The offer is available in store as well…

6 litres - if you scroll through the box photos

Also available for the same price on Amazon AU, but without the bonus Stainless Steel Bowl.

This is the 6L version with 2 bowls. I bought it in store last week. It is good, did my first cook, normally would take 6 hours slow cooking, this did it in 50 minutes (20 minutes to saute in the Philips pot and get up to temperature, 30 minutes pressure time). Results were amazing and I think better than slow cooking.

Had one of these for around 2 years now, absolutely love it.

Good for making anything in a flash, no need to boil the classic homemade chicken soup all day to bring out the flavours!

    • Are the most of parts removable and easy to clean? E.g rubber gaskets

      • +2

Yeah a lot of stuff can be pulled off/unscrewed for cleaning which is great.

The steam release valve on the top can be unscrewed, and also the plate in the lid with the rubber seal around it can be pulled off for cleaning.

Awesome that's good to know a lot of the stuff is easily accessible for cleaning. Thanks for your feedback on that. Another thing, is how well does it cook rice? Good enough to replace a dedicated rice cooker or no?

          • @MysticalWok: IME, it cooks rice better than my Breville multi cooker. So yes, you can use it to replace rice cooker. That's what I did.

          • @MysticalWok: Not too sure, as we also have a dedicated rice cooker so never cooked rice in this.

However I HAVE done risotto and it has come up perfectly, so I'd imagine regular boiled rice will be none too shabby as well 👌

            • @mangobango: Is there a link to the risotto recipe you use ?
              Thanks

@scottb721: I think I did it using a similar method to this: https://www.taste.com.au/recipes/pressure-cooker-chicken-ris…

I used my own homemade chicken soup which already had boiled chicken and whatnot in there (comment below for the recipe) so if you do that too then you can skip the first step at least.

IMO you can skip the butter and wine (spinach as well but feel free to put it in), butter especially as at the end of the day it's just extra fat and it already tastes amazing without it.

    • where do you get your recipe from?

      • Family recipe 😉

I have the 6 litre one too, usually put in the following:

Chicken (2-4 legs, or if you have frozen breast. Even just bones are fine)
Beef (usually the blade steak from aldi chopped up. It's cheap and gets the job done, but only around handful or so of chopped beef)
        Parsley
        1-2 tomatoes
        1 Carrot
        1 Onion
        A few cloves of garlic
        Salt to flavour

Fill the rest with water and pressure cook for 30-40 minutes. The default 20 minutes is fine, but the longer you cook it the better it tastes.

Add extra salt later in case it's not enough, I usually put a smaller amount at the start and then taste it after it's done and add more if need be.

wow sounds simple enough! thank you

  • just bought a single bowl one from TGG last month for 159. Very happy with it. Learned quite a few dishes from Youtube, all came out good.

I think the SS bowl is a must-have, as the coated bowl is thin and flimsy. Review says the coating doesn't last long.
