1010

Spotted in IKEA Perth’s as-is section, however units new in box. Listed as outgoing product. Microwave with built in crisper/grill to be fitted inside cabinetry. Two pallets (50 odd units) on display and looked to be more out back. Could be same in other stores but not mentioned online.

          ArE ThEy???

          ANSWER ME

  • shows 799? or have to be there? i am in WA

    • It's in the as-is section so you have to go in. There is more then likely only one unit available.

      • +1

More than 50 units late yesterday

        • +1

          Thanks for the update.

      • Did you even go there? Theres a couple of pallets.

        • +3

No I haven't been there, that's just what the as-is section is normally like. The website does not reflect the as-is section of any store.

          • @AusRetro: Don't know why you got down vote… The flag in the picture literally says old furniture deserves a second life.

    • +1

Website doesn’t reflect in store price. OzB requests a URL (which lists it at full price) and then displays URL image rather than my upload

    • The one on website is not the same model. Buttons layout is different.

Dimensions are probably the same, as they should fit their cabinets: https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/bejublad-microwave-oven-white-9…

  • Good find knifey

  • Reviews say it looks good for hard to use. Has anyone used this before?

  • Victoria as well?

    • +1

Nope, as-is products and prices are different in every store.

  • Great deal if you can get one

  • Pics or it didn't happen!

    • +3

      updated image as requested!

  • Great deal, did you get one through the checkout. any receipt or photo?

Wonder if the view of the first digit being obscured. lol

    • +1

I have updated the deal image reflecting the price - could be worthwhile contacting local store to see if they will match Perth as outgoing product

      • It tried this with the batteries and it was a no go, for an oven it's probably out of the question

  • +2

Was about to check 2kmfromhome.com, then saw Perth.

    • +1

Are you a NSW removalist though?

  • -3

White only? No wonder no one wants them

    • -1

For all the down voters, the this is a built in unit that is mean to match the oven. When was the last time you saw a white oven that wasn't in either a kitchen in badly need of a renovation or a rental property?

  • +1

I would buy two of them and keep one wrapped up!

    • That would be a good idea. Cheaper than getting a tradie to replace the pump or whatever later on

      • +4

What pump is in a microwave?

        • +2

To pump the microwave energy around ;)

        • +1

It pumps the micro fluid around; how else do you think it makes waves?

  • No good microwave deals yet… Need one. Based in Victoria and hopefully a flatbed

  • +2

Who spends $700 on a microwave?

    • Ya seems very expensive, they have even 800 ones on Ikea.

    • +1

Rich people or people like fashion or chef.

    • Mum spent like 1k on one just for aesthetics basically. Similar knob interface to this, has a stupid 1-minute long finish alarm that resets every time they lose power (and they lose it a lot). Does look nice and do air-frying/grilling at least.

    • +4

$700 is cheap for a built in microwave. For some reason all the big brands want $1000+ for what is a $200 microwave with a nice front.

      • Cheap for a built in but in reality not cheap at all

  • +4

I bought this from Ikea years ago. Must have been under $200, I thought it was on clearance then.
Made in Italy. 003.221.66. Fits a standard 60cm recess, easy to install.
    Glass and steel, not plastic.
    I like the downward-opening door.
    Not an inverter type.

    Any questions?

New model looks slightly different, $799 :

Username checkouts when you read your post really fast

I speak in bullet points. Hate long sentences. You just don't read the awkward pauses :-)

        • Are you from 4chan?

    • Does space have to match exactly, just slide it in? What's holding from coming out?

      • Gravity

        • +2

Usually 2-4 screws are all that keeps any built in appliance in its location…but gravity helps too

  • Pity - too tall for my current space, without moving the existing conventional oven below.

I wouldn't get another microwave with an internally protruding grill element even if it was free. I bought one from Kogan because their photos made it look like there was no element attached to the roof. They are the biggest pain in the neck to clean, and if you don't, you get flakes of old food falling into the fresh stuff. You have to unplug it, turn it upside down, and no matter how careful you are you'll cut your fingers on the little brackets that clip around the element to attach it to the internal walls. There are places you can't get your fingers into/under too, so you can never get it completely clean.

This looks like it would be even worse because it looks like it would be permanently fixed in place. So you either have to stand on a ladder or chair to clean the bottom, or struggle trying to clean around and under the roof element while crouching down.

    Solution:

Get a cheap plain microwave for reheating and defrosting, no grill, with all smooth walls, something that's dead easy to wipe down in a few minutes. And if you want to do roasting/baking either get a real convection microwave where any browning heat comes from behind the internal walls, or a glass bowl type air fryer all of which are again easy to clean.

People need to stop buying these awful things so they stop making them.

    • +2

Alternative solution: use a microwave plastic cover and your microwave will stay clean always.

      • When the microwave has a grill element that you are using, any plastic will likely melt.

        • -1

hmm…. you turn on grill and use it as "Microwave" ? … there are buttons for each function…

      • -1

Yeah that's what I thought when I got one, but:

        1. You can't use it when doing any grilling/convection because the plastic melts from the heat.
        2. After nagging people to use it on microwave only, the food is still often taller or wider than the cover. Meaning it nearly always gets food on it. If you don't clean it immediately (before eating) the food dries and sticks, plus the way they're designed with multiple slots and sharp corners/rings is another pain in the neck to clean and dangerous. I cut my finger on the sharp slots! It still allows splatter though the slots too (grrr…). If they were taller with vents on the side instead of the top they'd actually be useful. But I've never seen one.
        3. When food does fit under the cover without touching the top or sides, it will be thin stuff like when reheating a couple of slices of pizza. So there's no need to use it because the short time means no splatter.
        4. We also couldn't use it with anything fatty like bacon. The fat melted the cover, opened the slots, allowed even more splatter through.

So when you want to use it, it doesn't fit. And when it does fit you don't need to use it. It sat on top of the microwave for six months, didn't get used once, and was always in the way when you wanted to take one thing out to put the next in. Thus it was swallowed by the cupboard. With a wall mounted oven it's in the cupboard too. And out of sight out of mind. (No-one thinks to get it out.) :-(

There's another reason not to get this type I forgot to mention. Microwaves really are built awful nowdays. Get one back in the 80s (like a National Panasonic) and it could last for 30 years or more. Get one today and you're lucky to get two years. (The buttons on my Kogan separated in 3 months, and its door eject button broke a month after warranty expired. I'm now using a steel ruler slid between the door and cabinet to spring it open.) So you fit something like this into permanently into your kitchen cabinetry and in a couple of years need to find something the same size to fill the hole. Or you need new cabinetry. Microwaves have such a short life they should be free-standing so when they die it doesn't affect the entire kitchen.

    • FWIW, the grill element is recessed, not protruding. I'd forgotten it was there, never use it

      • Yeah it's mounted inside the cooking area though. It's an awful design.

  • +1

I see you've played knifey microwave before

  • -1

Is that a Microwave oven for ants?

How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read… if they can't even fit inside the microwave?

I don't wanna hear your excuses! The microwave has to be at least… three times bigger than this!

  • Surely an Ikea microwave would be crappy?

    • +2

Dont know about the microwave but I got a electric oven from Ikea 5 years ago and its pretty good. Got it for $300 or $400 I think. Its manufactured by Whirlpool.

      • Good to know

  • I picked up 2 this evening … still about 30 left on pallets if people are still interested. I half expected they'd be gone, but I was pleasantly surprised :)
