Good price for some basic NVME to USB enclosure. The chipset is probably JMS583, which will be slower than latest chips like RTL9210 and ASM2362, but it'll still be faster than most drives on the market.
why asmedia is much popular in PCIe to X interfaces, even with PCIe to PCI like ASM1083 ?
Asmedia has been around a while & has earned its good rep.
I have the 10Gbps one.
The one I received (Model:M2PV-C3 on the box) hits 1GBps easily on Crystal Diskmark benchmark and utilises RTL9210.
Mine was FW: 1.24.2.
No idea about reliability as I haven't used it often.

As in you didn't get the enclosure, just a bag? Or did they send you a carry case that was canvas and you have a rivalry with bigcanvis?

Why does the title and description have two different numbers for bandwidth? 10gbps in the title and 20 in the description. On top of that, usb 3.2 has a max speed of 10gbps and I spent ages looking for good external nvme enclosures at 3.2 speeds, at the time there weren't many, especially at this price point, I don't think the market changed that significantly in a year or 2.

Usb 3.2 gen 2x2 is very rarely supported and would need someone to buy an add on card (which takes up a pcie slot anyway so you could just get a pcie card or thunderbolt add-on card), with a very limited number of very high end motherboards supporting it natively. I don't think any laptop supports 2x2 and laptop users are probably the largest market for these external drives.
As for thunderbolt 3 and 4, they are much faster and what I use but to get 40gbps, the plugged in device needs to have a thunderbolt controller (which make these devices very expensive), otherwise they default to usb 3 speeds (I think it falls back to 5gbps but could be 10gbps).
Does anyone make one of these that's just an oversize USB flash drive with a male Type C plug? Having an enclosure with a female plug and an external cable etc just makes them more bulky and less convenient. Considering the physical size of an M.2 SSD, surely that's possible?
