This deal is purely and only about the books and the price for me and given the normal price this is a good deal.

Not sure u get to set your own rules for comments op?

    • +11

I am not setting my own rules. The rules already state that the comments should be about the deal.
I am just trying to avoid people going at each other's throats and try to avoid a lot of work for the mods having to mark 80% of all comments off topic.

      • +28

do you realise many of OZB people's daily entertainment are the comments?

        • +2

Sure. But on certain topics people get too nasty and the entertainment ends in bans for a considerable amount of people. I do not think this is really necessary.

      • It's in the evening, I'm half nuts from lockdown and studying, on the plus side I'm about to pour myself a brandy and watch some anthropology :)
I used to prefer people avoid politics and religion on OzBargain, I mean they can say I think X y z and someone else says their X y z then it's left there. There's been some really ugly arguments both on and off OzBargain. Now days I really don't care, people will be people, so I say let it burn :)

    Expensive toilet paper

    • +6

Papercut on the butt would suck

  • +1

given the normal price this is a good deal.

FYI it's been this price or lower since October. Same with Michelle.

    • Fair enough. But no time machine and lockdown is now.

That seems to be one copy. Try posting this as a deal here and see what happens. ;-)

      • +5

so you are assuming more than 1 person is going to buy from your link?

        • +8

I am assuming (rightly) that I cannot post a deal with a quantity of one and that Amazon will have more than 10.
Look, I have seen this before. There is a band in Europe that sold millions and millions of albums but I have never met a single person who says they like them or have bought an album from them. Yet the two band members are filthy rich.
And when you go to people's houses and look at their albums, you will find them.
Everyone is too ashamed to admit they like it and bought it - I reckon it is similar here. ;-)

speak for yourself.. I am not fan of any politician of any country..

            • +1

@skinny: I did not say you were. I am saying there are likely to be a lot of people who slam the book openly but still buy it secretly.

  • Barack Obama:

Tonight, I Barack for Collingwood !!!!!!!!

Lol gotta love the Fox News zombies, always good for a laugh

        • Wow the Fox News w**ker's are out in numbers 🤣

  • +9

I've read both books. Michelle's is a better book.
Barak's book is really a Part 1. The first half (before he was President) was pretty good. The second half was pretty bland: you need to care about US politics a lot more than I did to find that enjoyable reading.

That said, I doubt I'd read either book again.

Same price at Kmart and Big W. Not a bargain.

      • +7

        Not cheaper. The same price.
As for safer, still ≠ bargain.

      • +2

By that logic you can post a deal about most items on Amazon because it's same price as competitors

        • Well, at the moment it is a deal to get it delivered to your house due to lockdown.
Plus, if I have to drive 20 kms to go to Kmart t get the back, if I consider the time and petrol, then yes, it is cheaper to get it on Amazon. That and the convenience are why Amazon is so successful. Sure, they have some great prices at some point.
I mean, look at the price matching deals. JB Hifi has a great price, Amazon matches it (not cheaper) and yet the upvotes are there. Why if it is not cheaper?
In fact, Amazon should be downvoted in that instance as they only react instead of offering a lower price in the first place.
It is funny that when it comes to games and electronics the same price on Amazon is still considered a great deal whereas for some reason with books it isn't? I do not understand that logic.

          • +3

@Lysander: The issue isn't that Amazon is just price matching competitors but that the price isn't anything special. The fact it's the same (full) price at other stores makes it not a deal. Furthermore if you look at CamelCamelCamel you'll see that it's been $33.99 since around November last year

The point I was making was that the convenience of Amazon doesn't automatically make a deal for a product at it's regular price because if it did nearly every product on Amazon would qualify as a deal

    • -4

Honestly if you said you found it cheaper your neg would be worthy. But you found it at the same price. So not really neg worthy, should just update the deal to include the other retailer

  • +4

Also, if you choose to vote, REMEMBER the vote is for the deal, not for Obama or his politics!

Can't vote him back in, max is 2 terms.

  • +5

Giving a modern day politician even more of our money let alone our time….. yeah, no thanks.

  • +1

Pre-ordered this off Amazon when it first came out in Nov 20 for $35. A dollar cheaper isn't really a bargain and it's not exactly in short supply.

    Good read nonetheless

  • +3

For what its worth I enjoyed MIchelle's book more that Obama's, best book I've read in a long while. Obama's still good but got a bit dry for me in the politics bits..

    • I've just been grabbing any free ebooks that half interest me from Amazon. I'll probably read them when I retire. Barely got any time at all, I'm working part time and studying full time 🤪

    Not a deal.

    Barrack 'Dronestrike' Obama

    • Definitely agree with you there, so much 'collateral damage' >:(. But who do you vote for when they mostly talk differently but they all walk the same :(

    • -1

For balance, so you know Trump was even more unscrupulous with drone strikes and deliberately changed the transparency rules to hide how much more damage he was doing.

Yeah I vote no for the man and his ideals which poured into his politics. He started the regression of American's progression on racial issues, started addressing and dividing people up in people/racial/gender groups of identification.
