Was shopping around couldn't find any local retailer cheaper. Postage to sydney was around $15.

Very true. Solid support and advice. 2 thumbs up for these guys.
I think its great that people are posting up bargains on beats headphones.
If only so that other helpful ozbargainers can redirect them to sources of decent sound for the same, or cheaper, price.

I only just realised that the Monster who makes Beats headphones, and the Monster who makes overpriced HDMI cables are one and the same.
… Everything makes much more sense now.
^These have become a fashion icon now, you would find that the people buying this aren't looking for "sound quality".
Emphasised by the part a little down the page, it's 'frequently bought with'… a black pair of the exact same headphones. Because I would pay an extra $180 to have a second colour option.
Perhaps. That or people just don't know where to look. JB and other retailers don't make a habit of stocking too many mid to high end ear phones that are worth looking at. Probably makes life difficult for those that don't consider going to a dedicated audio retailer or looking online.
I saw these on the nightly news last week. It was in the sports section when the camera was following a bunch of Sydney NRL players at the airport. There must have been about 4 or 5 players wearing them. Nuff said.
About as useless as skullcandy, you have to be a dropkick to use them over sennheisers etc
Except Skullcandy is actually better. I was in JB comparing the $500 Beats Studio's and $600 Beats Pro's with a pair of $80 Skullcandy's and the Skullcandy's sounded much better - They even felt more 'bassier'.
& FYI - I had no intention of buying either headphones at any point so don't worry. Just wanted to compare them side-by-side.
beats lol, as always, deserve a badge … most likely the Gar bage.
+1 sennheisers any day.
Fashion icon -> fake magnet.
So true! Especially given the quantity of fakes sold on eBay and arguably other places like some of the daily deals sites. While you should get the real deal at Amazon, they will still have the 'is it real or fake' fashion stigma.
I haven't wanted these so don't know the saving, but I recommend any ozbargain user who HAS to have these, to use camelcamelcamel.com to look at the price drop graph, so you know if the price is good or not. Since Amazon, Best Buy etc may well have sales, e.g. Presidents Day or whatever it is.
I can't wait for the Dr Dre LV version, haha.
after doing a shiteload of research I'm going to get the ad700 headphones next, from headphones.com.au for $150.
but everyone's needs are differentJust another thought (yet to test it though):
Use camelcamelcamel.com and change the Amazon search by country, UK, US, Germany, Italy etc to confirm that you've got the best Amazon deal.
I just crosschecked Sons of Anarchy 1-3 [Blu] this way and am glad I did. :)Possibly not relevant for this item but has worked for a few items in recent months.
I am still unhappy that the Amazon UK 25GBP free shipping wasn't phased out more slowly…
Nice find with camelcamelcamel.com, you know if theres an Australian version?
these might not be to everyone's taste but isn't this ozbargain … if it's the cheapest place you'll find these then it's a bargain plain and simple … positive from me even though I won't be buying them!
Where in sydney can i try out earphones befor buying???
I bought few times and was dissapointed with sound, cant return an item back for refund/exchange if your dissapointed unless they are faulty :/Most harvey normans have them on display. Also JB Hifi
Keeping in mind that retailers such as those don't stock quite a number of products that are worth considering.
Unfortunately it is not the right environment and equipment to be reliably testing the headphone. The only place that can test this out would be a HiFi retail store with proper equipment and you bring along your music in uncompressed form.
IMO this depends on what use you are putting your prospective 'phones to. If you plan to use them mostly on the bus to work listening to compressed music it would seem to make sense to test them in a similar setting. Some headphones do noticeably better using compressed music as compared to others and some isolate sound better against a noisy background. I'm not really a huge audiophile but this is what I gather from reading a bit.
As for these headphones, as already pointed out it may be a good price for this item and they're not terrible by any means but compared to other headphones at around the same price point their performance is lacking by a large margin.
I have seen these headphones whilst in America travelling and they are normally sold out of vending machines run by Best Buy at the Airport and I think the price that they had it for was $189.
Was tempted to buy one just to play around with as I had forgotten my headphones, until I saw that MONSTER made it.
I am still rocking my Sennheisers HD 497 from many eons ago :).
i think ATH ES7 sounds better for less
Should probably look elsewhere for better sounding headphones. For that price you could find something decent. Try this place:

They're also very friendly and would give you feedback and would answer your questions regarding any of their products.
