It’s back! 1/2 price at Woolworths. I am into Jasmine Rice.
Another option as Royal Umbrella and Golden Phoenix are expensive at the moment. 😔

I bought one to try. I am still eating Royal Feast from last deal.
How are you finding Royal Feast?
I find them very fragile thin, less aromatic but taste like Jasmine Rice.
This is still Product of Thailand, whereas SunRice 5kg Bags are now Product of Vietnam (Previously Cambodia).
The Golden Wheel has also gone up in price; was previously $20 when half price.
Sunrice Jasmine 5kg is still Cambodian
Older batch are Product Cambodia, new batch are now Product of Vietnam.
Yes confirmed true.
Interesting. Didn't know that. Woolworths is still selling the old batch
@[Deactivated]: I'm assuming they haven't updated their site.
Which one is your choice?
If they are the same price, I would prefer the Golden Wheel Thai Hom Mali Rice over Cambodia Sunrice.
Have yet to try the Vietnam Sunrice.
"The Golden Wheel has also gone up in price; was previously $20 when half price"
That's the "transitory" inflation we're experiencing ATM..
My go to is Taj or India gate. I love long grain rice as I cook rice in a similar style to Indians and middle easterns.
Taj is like $18 for 5kgs, India Gate is similar in price. Golden cellar, long grain aged rice.
If the OP is any good for what I'm after, I will stock up. Please let me know if you've tried it
Different varieties
I only like real Thai Hom Mali rice, the aroma is just different. My last few bags have been from Costco so I don't know how good Golden Wheel is compared to Costco's Kirkland.
Did you like the Costco ones?
No complaints about Costco rice. I also bought some of their smaller packs when they were on special and again, no complaints there too.
I'll never forget having to eat the Coles Thai Jasmine rice (back in 2020 during the crazy days of bare shelves), and it was horrible. Costco rice is way ahead of anything from Coles.
yeah i'm not a huge fan either, the only sunrice i dont mind is the low GI and the long grain
i bought woolies jasmine rice, wonder if it's same..
Prefer Royal umbrella and the Aussie purple bags of Sunrice are back I noticed.
Go for the organic ones as I guess they will not contain too much arsenic?
The main sources of arsenic pollution include certain pesticides and herbicides, wood preservatives, phosphate fertilizers, industrial waste, mining activities, etc)
Arsenic often drains into groundwater, which is heavily polluted in certain parts of the world
…….
Maximum levels for arsenic in food
There are limits in the Code for inorganic arsenic in certain foods. Foods sold in Australia and new Zealand (including imported food) must comply with these limits.
A limit of 1mg/kg applies to seaweed and molluscs, and for fish and crustacea, inorganic arsenic is not allowed above a level of 2mg/kg.
There is also a limit in the Code for total arsenic of 1mg/kg for cereals (including rice) and 0.5 mg/kg for salt.
ALWAYS rinse any Rice properly before cooking.
how come??
sorry to confirm is this "thai rice" is jasmine rice?
Interested in knowing how good this rice is compared to the Thai and Cambodian brands at approx $55-60 per 25kgs.
