Boost Plan Clarification

Hey all - I searched the forums but still a bit confused by the Boost offerings etc.

It seems I can get a discounted Boost starter sim on eBay or from a couple of links on these boards - about $160 for 100Gb, 365 days validity. But all these seem to be a base 20 or 30Gb with the rest as a "bonus".

What are the implications of buying one of these compared to the standard $200/100Gb sim from the Boost website? Will it make a difference when I go to recharge? I don't want to have to port in/out at that stage - this is for my mum and I want something simple & reliable.

I would just pay the extra $40, but this is OzBargain and I don't want to be thrown into the Bargain Brig.

Thanks

Yes those deals you see are starter packs that cannot be used again so long as you remain on Boost.

So once your 1 year anniversary is up, you will probably have to recharge the service at the normal rates which thankfully are not too bad.

Unless you do want to get another deal which requires to port out to a Voda or Optus sim, then port back in with a new starter pack.

no implications, they should be the same plan. think the only restriction with the deals are that you are have set time to activate the SIM to qualify for the bonus data. There's no diff when come time to recharge, more about what recharge plan would be avail next year.

if anything to consider either woolies mobile https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/637396 10% grocery discount with data sharing or Coles mobile https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/637953 less data but free international calls to some countries.

  • Thank you both!

There's no data rollover on the yearly plans either.
