  • How many nits?

  • This is a lot of TV for this kinda money. My 55" is a perfect second TV.

  • How fluent is the Android TV interface? I have an older Sony that's quite laggy and I'm wondering what these newer low end TV's are like?

    • +3

Chromecast will solve the issue if you are happy with the display

      • Exactly what I did, new lease of life!

        • Yeah I have a Chromecast but it's configured for American services like Hulu, Netflix etc.

So I normally use the TV interface itself to access the Australian version of the same apps. So I would like a TV that works well on it's own instead of having to buy a second Chromecast or Nvidia Shield.

  • I have a TCL s615 40" as a bedroom tv and your unable to put the tv into standbye mode using Google assistant around the house. TCL support confirmed it with no advice on a firmware fix. Have had it 8 months. Hardware seems more than satisfactory for a second tv but software clearly needs help, HDMI CEC can't be that hard to get right. Research TCL if those features is what your after.

  • Comparing with HOT Deal "Hisense 65Q8 65” Series Q8 ULED" TV, Anyone can comments on its picture quality? I don't care about 120hz, HDMI spec. etc..

    • +1

Id get the hisense Q8 for the local dimming and better brand recognition. The Q7 for similar money could be hard to beat as well. But the Q8s 1000 nit brightness is so worth when you watch HDR or dolby vision content.

      • Thank you. I will wait till Q8 75" TV get a big discount then pull the trigger, so far I am still using my 1080P project with 100" screen.

  • I have a TCL P8M 75 inch, I got it as a demo about 18 months ago, it was at a bargain price.
First; I like the picture. Took some fiddling around to get it to where I like it, but it's good, mostly. I do get some shadowing on low contrast images, especially on the ABC, but everything else is OK.
Live sport and movies on streaming services are just fine.
But… the menus are as slow as s—t and it seems to be getting worse with every update. And when I say slow, I mean 50 seconds to start up (even though I activated the fast start function) and sometimes as much as 5 seconds to turn off from the remote.
The other thing is, it sometimes arbitrarily turns itself on, to the point that we turn it off at the wall at night because we got sick of waking up to find the cat sitting on the couch, watching Sunrise.
It's frustrating because my other TV is an LG with WebOS, which did not allow us to load all the streaming apps (so we have it connected to an Apple TV unit). Starts fast, snappy response to remove, brilliant picture but it's not as big so I prefer sport on the big one.
Don't know whether this series of TCL shares those issues.

  • How do all these TVs claim Dolby Vision support with 300 odd nits? The minimum specification for Dolby Vision mastering requires the use of reference monitors with a contrast ratio of 200,000:1, peak brightness of 1000 nits, colour range 'approaching' the Rec 2020 standard, and support for the SMPTE ST-2084 HDR format.

    • They pay the Dolby fee

  • +1

you would be crazy to buy this over hisense Q8,
source: had the TCL swapped it out for the hisense Q8 (pay 150 dollar more get the hisense) a real QLED with FALD and proper true HDR and Dolby Support with up to 1000nits brighness.

  • I have a TCL x7 qled which I’m very impressed with. Does anyone know how this tv compares to the one I’ve got? Considering buying
