Dark Chocochino is my FAVE choc drink, rich and tasty. When I was pregnant I was drinking this stuff all the time :)
Good stuff ….stash ran out and in desperation we have been experimenting with other options.
Try the Aldi Dairyfine drinking hot chocolate 400g - $3. Actually had some rock salt in it..but it works. Coles have a new hot chocolate as well (see link below), same size, same price and I think it's just a rebrand of the Aldi chocolate. Very comparable to the Vittoria milk chocolate. But if you like the Dark, then I haven't found anything else remotely comparable.
Pretty sure we all know this, but don't try the Cadbury or woolies brand hot chocolate…just rubbish.

Dutch cocoa powder is on special in Aldi twice a year.
Will try the Coles next time. Thanks
The dark one is great for sprinkling on cappuccinos.
76% sugar!
Yeah, and 18% cocoa.
You can use a heaped cup of sugar, 1/4 cup of cocoa powder and have the same amount of "hot choc" for a fraction of $2.45. And it's going to be lactose-free.
But importantly, it doesn't taste like Vittoria Chocochino. I buy this for the "adult" taste.
Also make hot chocolate with good Dutch cocoa. Good to have some variety.
What does it make it "adult"? A drop of despair?
But for reals, I'm curious what's in there. Nesquik, for one, has a bit of cinnamon.
@pizzaguy: Noticed Vittoria have dropped "adult" taste from their product description :-(
Just "Italian style". It's a coffee rather than chocolate company. Hence a different focus on taste. Great shaken on frothy coffees!
Adult taste - simply means it's not designed as a children's hot choc. Unlike Nesquik & Cadbury. I gave up on those in my childhood!
It is different to the many other "adult" hot choc I've tried.Taste is very personal. This is my personal favourite now, until I find one I like more.
have the same amount of "hot choc" for a fraction of $2.45
That's like saying people should buy the cheapest instant coffee instead of making great tasting coffee - because it's a fraction of the price! It's still "coffee". Yes, it would save money, but… Try suggesting that in all the coffee Deals!!
This is 14c per serve = $1 per 7 serves.
Just $1/wk for me. So not something big savings can be made on, when I really enjoy the taste. My treat for the day.
Main saving is only buying when half price.
Shocking… As discussed almost every time in these hot choc Deals. Most chocolate drinks have lots of sugar, just like most soft drinks.
You don't have to buy it.Oh I'm so sorry. Please forgive me for not having read all of these previous comments you speak of.
not having read all of these previous comments you speak of…
Here are the past Vittoria Chocochino Deals. Not all discuss sugar content. In the previous Deal, same time last year - about 1/2 of the comments were about the sugar content
Strangely there isn't that level of discussion in most other higher sugar content Deals.Made up as suggested, the sugar content of the drink due to this product is around 8%.
That's less than regular Coke (10.6%), for example. So should be drunk in moderation. The Dark has a lower sugar content (61%).
With a high sugar content, it is unexpectedly not pleasant to eat from the container, like most other hot chocolate. But, those Italian-Style Flavours make it a tasty hot choc.
It's been strangely absent from my local Coles/Woolies/IGA for the past couple months. Officeworks sells it in 2kg bags but it's actually no cheaper than the tins at regular price.
Yeah, I don't mind buying the 2kg bags but they don't have it in dark only original.
No dark ones at my local woolies either, only original
Rang local Woolies - 33 available only in Original, Dark no longer stocked there. Lucky I prefer Original.
9 on shelf, so 2 cartons of 12 out the back. Asked for 3 of those.
Stocked up with 12 until next half price sale.None at all at our Woolies… True 1st world crisis!
think woolies is phasing this product out.
visited 2 stores in Sunshine, Vic, only to be told , we dont stock that item.
very bloody annoyingDifferent stores stock different products.
Asked for Original in FNQld today - all stores only stock Dark.
SA stores said no stock and it won't be sold anymore …. M.O.G!
My hot chockie fave!
Been waiting for this too. Restocking tomorrow. Usually buy 10+ to last until next special.
Thanks👍
