These headphones retail for over $300 and in some cases over $400 in local stores. As much as I want to support local businesses, such a difference is too hard to ignore. Reviews on Amazon seem to be pretty good, though some "audiophiles" on other review sites seem to be neutral or even negative on them. For this price though… In any case, do your research and those of you familiar with this model please share your experience.

AKG P5 S Supercardiod Vocal Dynamic Microphone with on/off Switch, $67.37

Not the lowest price according to CamelCamelCamel, but close enough for a decent dynamic microphone.

Bought one. Looks like a price error.

AKG K175 is for $45. Seems like this one is better for resell if anyone is interested. Grabbed one of this to see how it goes.

      • +10

AKG official website price is USD $34

        https://www.akg.com/support/K175.html

Australia stock is almost 10 times higher, $319

        • +9

          That’s an insane gouge

@ufoninja: that coalition yankee doodle dandy oz these days and it will get worse…so thats something to enjoy when glady's party dispersal plan brings your life to a standstill….

        • This is racist price

  • +1

    Thanks OP bought one

  • +1

Ordered, lets see if it actually ships.

    • +1

      Mine just shipped overnight.

    • +1

      Mine has shipped also

  • $99US RRP.

    $160 on eBay.

Great deal but slightly exaggerated by OP.

    • +13

      Exaggerate this:
      $419
      $308 (for open box)
      $389 + shipping
      $439
      You get the point.
BTW, the link you found on eBay is for a private listing i.e. a single unit, so it hardly counts as the regularly available price.

      • +1

        True

      • Does Amazon price history count as the regularly available price?

Surely you must recognise that these are inferior headphones to the K361 and the K371, and that the local pricing is an abberation. It's possible that AKGs local supply chain doesn't even bother with this product.

There's a reason for that. Go for something like the Takstar Pro 82, or step up to the K361 when it's at $100-$120.

        • Surely? There is a lot of certainty in that statement. How would I recognise that if I hadn't heard them before. Perhaps you could expand on why they are inferior exactly and compared to what at which price? Thanks.

          • @findingbargains: It's a thin, cold sound, with limited sub-bass.

The K361 does this better, as does the Takstar Pro 82 v2 (with a touch of warmth).

            • @jasswolf:

              cold sound, with limited sub-bass

Hang on, isn't that what you want for professional mix monitoring in the studio? I don't think these are necessarily intended for leisure music listening, is my understanding.

              • @findingbargains: It's not super neutral either. For monitoring and mastering you'll tend to want speakers, not closed back headphones, anyway.

Mixing would be better with the K361 and K371, by far, with the K371 the standout. K371 would be good for listening to the final mix, and is decent for mastering, but professional headphones are tools within a toolkit.

The K275 is lean and bright, it's the worst of old-school AKG made into a dinky, cheap headphone.

        • Also remember we're paying $75 for these. Even comparing them to a $120 set is nearly double the price.

          • @exc3113nce: The Takstars are about the same price, and most people recommending the K275 are also recommending a pad change, which instantly puts it in $100 territory.

  • +1

Thanks OP, great price. Bought one 👍

  • +2

Needed a new pair of headphones so this is good timing. Don't think it's a price error since as mentioned above, it retails for 99usd overseas.

  • +2

    Got one. Ta.

    This is a great price!

  • +3

Great deal. I have these cans but the earpads will eventually deteriorate after frequent use (I had to replace them after 12 months).

Go to brainwavz audio for replacement earpads. Highly recommend the sheepskin

    • +1

      Nice tip. Thanks! 👍😊

    • +1

How is the sound quality ?

      • +1

Really good once I replaced the earpads. Mainly use them to watch streaming services and listen to occasional music

        • +1

I've got my eyes on some Sennheisier HD6xx but wanted to pick up a pair of decent closed-back headphones for travel/commuting. At this price point, nothing would beat this really.

          • +1

@exc3113nce: Takstar Pro 82 v2 from TakstarAudio on AliExpress. AKG K361 when it's around $100-$110. Hell, have a look at the Cooler Master MH751 when it's around $70-$80.

The K275 might have designs that resemble AKG's work when it was Austrian-based manufacturing, but it's not the same sound. It's not in the ballpark of a dry, neutral classic like the K240.

If you're paying for a pad change on top of this, you're in K361 and K371 territory, where you'll get outstanding sound compared to this.

        • Just ordered the sheepskin from Brain Wavz. They have a sale on at the moment plus 10% off if you subscribe. Shipping is only USD$7.50
          Cheers.

          • -1

@DSOTM: But how much the pad? 100% will fit?

            • @CyberMurning: US$21 plus 7.50 shipping for the sheepskin pads. They say it fits. You have to search for the K275.

  • How do they compare to the ATH-M50x?

    • +1

Focus on the AKG K361 and the AKG K371.

    • +1

The K275s arrived today, they sound nice but comparing them to my M50s, I prefer the intense 'all-enveloping' sound of the Audio-Technica's. No competition.

    • +1

Got mine as well, yes the AKG-K275 sounds a little flat comparing to my ATH-M50x which is much fuller and well balanced.
But they are so cheap so I will keep them, I need a few extra pairs for recording vocals anyway.

      • +1

Isn't flatness an advantage for studio monitoring?

        • +1

Yes but I don't use headphones for that purpose, I use studio monitors
My headphones are mainly used by vocal artists, they prefer some colour

  • is it really really good? i mean looking at the australian prices … any audiophile here? someone like watchnerd for watches…

  • Does amazon prime offer free international returns on these? I'm new to prime and hesitant whether I should buy these. I don't think they're that of a good deal considering rrp of 99usd so I would assume they would sell for 70-80usd regularly. The reviews are not so good either.
    Anyone tried them?
    Cheers!

    • +1

just cancel now? why would you open try then return thats not good… hygiene bro……
      this review says good

‘Every time I am in a multi million recording studio, I am only ever given a pair of AKG.’

Closed the video there… not someone I’d take seriously.

      • +1

Haven't bought yet. Will do if I can return them for free.
The problem with reviews nowadays, especially on youtube, is that it is extremely hard to tell if the reviewer is sponsored, getting paid to do it, only doing it for the affiliated links, or simply was sent a free headphones.
For the hygiene thing, are you serious haha? Do you eat in restaurants, try headphones/equipments in stores, use public toilets, go to clothing stores, or just be outside?

        • EDIT: so it's free returns or no (for prime items), it's not mentioned.

          • @ozbozb: I always pay by Paypal - Claim the postage back from Paypal if it wasnt free return.

—- What I am talking about I dont think Amazon takes Paypal!

  • damn already in shipping stage cant cancel… hmmmm… but amazon chat said, just refuse the package when you get it next week, i said this is sold by amazon US, he said doesnt matter.
    wow……….

    • +2

Just open the box and use them and enjoy.

Nothing is perfect for everybody, but they sound great value for this price point.

      • +2

Exactly, you're paying $76 for them. If you don't want to use it, just resell it for the price you paid. They're a bargain at this price.

  • +2

Got them today. Haven't tested them extensively as yet, just listened to Cardi B - W.A.P (Explicit Version) on Audient iD14 Mk1. I am not comparing them to some high end headphones, but the modestly priced Samson SR950 that I currently use. I don't know, to my ears K275s sound good. They certainly seem to have a much tighter bass. I can hear that 808 bass very clearly - it has a lot of body without being overwhelming. But also, the vocals are more upfront and have a certain "presence". SR950 sound more "hollow" in comparison. Of course it is important to match the relative volume levels when testing between different headphones, because that can colour our perception and I am not sure if I achieved that. Anyway, I am happy so far but will keep testing over the next few days with a greater variety of music.

  • +4

    Just got them.

First impressions are that they are decent. I'd be annoyed if I paid full price, but easily great value at $80.

Build quality is brilliant, and as an overall package, they are better than the M50x. A little coloured in the low end, but it adds enjoyment to songs.

    • "if I paid full price" in US prices or AUS highway robbery prices?

      • +1

        Aus highway robbery.

        For $80 it's a no brainer.

They're pretty good. Bit harsh in the vocals but they're good. I'm happy my cancellation request was too late

        • Cool. Mine are coming today, so I'll look forward to testing them.

    • "they are better than the M50x" that's a big call! Especially for $80.

      • but one member said they sound nice but comparing them to my M50s, I prefer the intense 'all-enveloping' sound of the Audio-Technica's. No competition.

      • I have had unoriginal pads on mine for years, so it's probably unfair to say that they're better - but for my particular pair, the overall package is a better experience that the M50x

  • hmm… still undecided to keep/not.
i feel when we all can go out again, i will most likely to take the wireless one over wired. cable is just….. too troublesome

  • I also bought the K175, it sounds almost on par with the M50x, it is just a little softer, not by much,
I have lodged a return for the K275 (free return), keeping the K175.

    • did you open and try k275? if not then what made you decide 175 better than 275 ?

      • Yes, I did listen to both

        • can return the headphone after you open and try ? wow amazon so good
so the 175 is better ? in what way? maybe less heavy ?

          • +1

@CyberMurning: Yes, they don't care, my reason was product did not meet expectation.
See my comments a little earlier ⬆ Basically the K275 are flat, if that what you want then they are good for that.

Anyway that was what my ears told me :)

  • Does anyone reckon these (K275) would need a burn-in period before they reach their full potential? Or is that not a thing any more i.e. placebo effect?

    • My M50x did. Doubt it is a thing of the past given the nature of audio drivers

  • The K245 are on sale for $80.55

    • this is people said better than k275, i think?
