  • Does Kogan support VoLTE and VoWiFi?

Thinking about grabbing this to try out on my phone as Boost doesn't seem to work properly on it (though it worked with my previous phone).

    • Has VoWiFi, not sure VoLTE is visible.

      • If it has VoWiFi it has to support VoLTE.

But I haven't heard of Kogan support either yet.

        • If I turn VoWiFi switch on I can place calls, but it's hard to say whether it's going over WiFi since the carrier name doesn't change.

          • +3

@coxymla: Kogan does not have VoWiFi or VoLTE.

          • @coxymla: VoWiFi means you can make calls even in airplane mode. Only using Wifi.

            • +1

              @hawkeye93: Oh duh, I can't believe I didn't think of that.
I guess the WiFi Calling switch is not accurate since it's based on Vodafone.
Yes, Kogan does not have VoWiFi.

    • it never seemed to work/be there on my phones
      (pixel 5, S8+, OnePlus 5T)
Or maybe I just didn't know how to set it up (?!)

    • Not yet.

    • +1

I have kogan mobile and its absolute crap.

To answer your question, it does NOT have VoLTE or VoWIFI.

4G coverage is surprisingly good BUT, make or receive a call and it drops to 3G which is terrible.

I'm in the south east of Melbourne.

You might have a better experience of their 3G footprint for voice calls.

    What a terrible coupon name.

    • What would be a better one?

      • -2

        Definitely not Dan…

        • +18

In my opinion Dan did a much better job than Gladys with her half baked lockdown which basically allows everyone out everywhere.

            • +6

@King Tightarse: Gladys' nightmare has only just begun, more deaths inevitable within the next few days sadly.

            • +5

@King Tightarse: Fair point mate, most of the deaths would be from last year's Victoria second wave when there was no consensus on how to deal with the virus. They were too slow to enact hard and fast lockdowns.

Dan seems to have have now learnt his lessons based on his actions after that wave and deaths are kept to virtually zero.

Gladys at the moment is making a huge mistake and acting like a cool mum that trusts that everybody would do the right thing.

              • +3

@victorheaven: Yes, I think Gladys' nightmare is still in front of her, like bwad said above. Hope not of course, every death is a tragedy for some family.

              • @victorheaven: Neither are fit for office

                • +1

@TEER3X: Unfortunately our state premiers are pretty good in comparison to our PM..

          • @victorheaven: There be a pirate here arrrrrr

          • -5

@victorheaven: Yeh nah, that 160 day lockdown was not my cup of tea. Wasn't that effective either when we did it..

            • +5

@aant22: Would you have preferred the Trump's way of managing the virus?

      • Mockdown?

  • +5

My spend limit is 1c for these, based on last time…

  • Why is the promo code Glady? Does she have some relation to this deal? Lol

    • From the original coupon deal link in OP's post:

"Since we launched Kogan.com 15 years ago, politicians have often talked down online retail. It was great to see Gladys Berejiklian acknowledging the benefits of online shopping. To help out in these challenging times, get 5% off all items sold by Kogan.com this weekend when you use the discount code "GLADYS"."

  • APPLOVE code for $5 off first order on their mobile. Works out cheaper for orders under $100.

    • APPLOVE has a min spend? How much?

      • Not sure.. just bought something priced at 45.99 worked fine. Order came to 40.99.

  • +1

Cant find any info on how long the sim/number stays active without recharge, anyone know thanks?

      • Oh wow, thank you, that aint much. So I guess Aldi mobile is much better for longer expiry.

        • +1

Just about any other carrier is better for long expiry. After 20 days you can no longer receive calls or SMSes meaning you can't even port your number away unless you fill out a statdec and send in into Kogan, at which point they'll lift the call/SMS block for a set period of time in order for you to port away.
