12 Bottles of Massoni Pinot Noir 2012 Mornington Peninsula $0 + Delivery @ Just Wines

1092

Bright ruby appearance, vibrant and clear. Morello cherry and fruit pastille aromas with some spicy oak on the nose. The palate is lively with more spicy, cool climate flavours than previous releases, a testament to a mild growing season. Medium-bodied with a noticeable flavor contribution from the MV6 clone that makes up the greater portion of the blend. A long, complex and sustained finish rounds off the wine.
Difficult to argue this is not a bargain for the price! Shipping rates start at $9.99.

    Surely they won't honor that

    • +10

its their new business model….sell things for $0 for maximum SALES!. and stop calling me shirley..

  • +1

cellar time for pinot noir is 5 years, by Google…

      • +1

@tanedar is correct though. @adelv, i wouldnt be so sure about that statement

Prime drinking age for pinot is max 5 years generally

Yes the 2008 wouldve been drinkable but it would've been well past its prime
Cabernets, shiraz merlots sangiovise all can be aged 10+ years. Light wines like pinot, not so much

        • +3

You’ve got to be kidding me right?

I would quite happily say that most Pinot Noir would last more than five years, many of which would in fact improve beyond that time.

This is coming from someone who has not only studied wine extensively and has several certifications on the subject, but also had a 2002 Pinot within the last year, which was not ‘well past its prime’.

          • +7

@Jlawson28: "2002 Pinot". Sounds more like a car than a wine.

          • +8

@Jlawson28: Had a guy who came to my vineyard that studied wine extensively. He didn’t do so well. Turns out reading about wine is as useful as reading about driving and saying you are an expert without getting behind the wheel. Get some dirt on your hands as it all starts from the ground and leave the certifications at the door.

Saying stuff like that makes you sound pompous especially when you aren’t an expert.

If you drink it, and you like it, it is fine. End story.

          • +2

@Jlawson28: People here have no idea, I mean what do you expect from people buying $5 wine.

Half the wine I buy can cellar up to 30 years, yes when you buy $100-150+ bottles.

Cheap wine doesn't cellar well, it's not designed too.
            .

      • If I was selling wine I'd want the gullible buyer to think it has an early best before date too

        • Not all wine is made to be kept for 10 or 20 years. May be alright for cooking

    • +1

Yeah I got done on the last $5/bottle pinot deal

  • +1

    Hope it's not fizzy vinegar

    • Cider?

      • It's Victorian wine, so that would be an improvement

  • +20

Who's the poor guy that has to deal with the site crashing at 11pm 😅

    • Over 1k clicks in under 15mins, not surprised

    • +6

      I don't think that guy exists…

    • That ASG is letting everyone down.

  • +8

There’s no chance this would be honoured. Still placed an order though

  • Looks like all the other Massoni wines are also $0

    • only if you can check out… lol

  • +1

  • +12

Gonna be a 10 year old wine by the time I get through checkout.

  • +20

I just realised I've been spending 40 minutes to get wine that I don't even drink. I think I just hit my peak Ozbargain moment.

  • +1

Great way to get thousands subscribed to your mailing list.

  • Only took a bit more than 30minutes with paypal express checkout … (although it's still spinning "processing" on paypal website, but CC has been charged.)

  • +4

Will be a good present for the in-laws. They enjoy hearing about me wasting my time.

    • +2

You should hear what they say about their daughter…

  • finally got it, took 10 min.

    • -4

You got it already….? Fastest delivery to Melbourne that I know off… Was it via a drone delivery?

      • Yep I have a helipad at my house and I was able to get this delivery straight away last night.
Kidding… I meant I was successful to check out.

  • Wow! Got 2 dozens!

  • +1

I keep getting "we can't place the order"

    • I wonder if their IT team would get alerted of an unusually high traffic.

    • ^This. Jig's up lads.

  • -5

My girlfriend just bought like 10 cases of 12 bottles lol

    • +1

Says more about you than her!

  • Over 811 "sold"

  • This is a great way to harvest a list of customers to never advertise full price product to

  • All Massoni wines are showing $0.00

  • I've either been charged postage twice or I've got 24 bottles on the way…

  • +15

$9.99 shipping ruins it for me.

  • Hope OP waited till their order shipped, because posting this to Ozbargain is a surefire way to make sure your order gets cancelled.

  • After 50min "We’ll be back soon!
Sorry for the inconvenience but we’re performing some maintenance at the moment. We’ll be back online shortly!"

  • We’ll be back soon!
Sorry for the inconvenience but we’re performing some maintenance at the moment. We’ll be back online shortly!

  • Website down for maintenance.

  • Been stuck at "Processing…" at the PayPal checkout for about 20 mins now, even though the payment went through after I bought.

  • I just got in on time - site is down for maintenance now…

  • I'm so wanting to do this but if it was my business how could I afford to honor this, even getting rid of stock, might be one on the good OZBARGAIN deals if it comes off, busy day tomo for them regardless for these guys !, my heart tells me yes, but my head says "it's a no from me", May come off for those ordered!!

  • Their 2012 Cab Merlot is also showing up for free on the Massoni website. Feel free to OzBargain them as well.

    • +1

Warning: No Payment options are available. Please contact us for assistance!

    • +1

Almost scored 12 delivered for free but their website does not show payment methods and that prevents you from completing check out.

    • Impossible to check out

  • +3

Obviously a pricing error, so hopefully they don't feel obliged to fulfil the orders that were placed. This is just making a huge headache for the company. Mostly their own fault, but people spamming the website looking for free booze are also to blame

    • -8

I'd love to hear your explanation of how we as consumers are to blame for their error, maybe it's a genuine promotion (probably not) some buyers will think.

      • +14

I never said the consumers are responsible for the mistake, but they are trying to take advantage of a mistake to the detriment of the company. This is not a bargain, it's a pricing error. If people have no moral qualms about taking advantage of it, that's on them. But things like this can have a huge negative impact on companies and ruin careers, and I don't think that's right

        • -2

Whilst you make a totally valid point, it is not the responsibility of the consumer to protect businesses or their employees from their own stupidity or mistakes.

          • +2

@sk3iron: and its up to us to not be total c#nts and abuse an obvious error

    • +1

Serious comment (for a change) - has anyone actually tried this wine?

      • +1

        Haha, good joke

    • +9

      Obviously a pricing error

To me, it's 50/50. Given that
      1. it's a 9 years old wine, 4 years older than its cellar time
      2. It's not a well known label
      3. They failed to get it sold for 9 years 🙈
      4. China shuts them out
      5. The price on the winery website is also $0
      http://www.massoniwines.com/index.php?route=product/product&…

I suspect they would prefer to give it away for free (as long as someone pays the shipping cost) rather than paying extra for storage or to dispose the lot.
At the end of the day, it's $0 income vs paying extra cost

      • +1

I think you might be on to something there. I hope you're right

      • -3

        yeeeahhhh suuuuuuure

      • According to Wine-Searcher.com the drinking window for this vintage is 2020-2022 so doesn't seem it is past its cellar time.

Has to be a price error, just weird that the Massoni site also has it at $0

    • Will keep them busy today sorting it out and issuing refunds. Error 404. Looks like it's keeping people here occupied too :).

If people are still willing to buy wine at the bottle shops I can't imagine them giving it away free, people would buy it if it was $4 a bottle on eBay on those Justwines packs. Not the best but can't expect much either for the price.

    • youre being downvoted by the delusional opportunists!

  • +10

Is this what China meant when they said Australia was dumping wine for cheap?

  • All done. Link expired now

  • Aaaaaand "404 error". Damn.

  • Maybe while their web person is working late, the slogan "We are committed to staying open" can be removed..
My order is stuck in the cart with an internal server error, guess they have taken the cart down. Can just imagine the techs response "yep, sorted".
    see what tomorrows cache brings..

  • +2

Serious comment (for a change) - has anyone actually tried this wine?

    • +3

It's bitter atm since I couldn't place an order

  • DDoSed

  • -1

    17 reports

    lol!

  • It's on their eBay plus store for $59/12..
Aged Pinot Noir Clearance 12x750ml RRP $264 Free Shipping/Returns

Even for $49 with voucher it's probably donkeys piss I imagine, but cheap enough. Don't think they'd give them away for free if people are buying them and would go quick even if they made them $29.

  • +2

    404,…..say no more.

  • +1

They have a great 404 page

  • +1

    Good cooking wine

  • +8

    • +2

    • username checks out

  • 404

    No longer available

Not that i was going buy one anyway seemed a very good deal free 12 bottles and only pay delivery
