Bottom Sensor for Short-term Water Needs

    Use as a Bidet?

  • +1

Does it fail open? I guess worse case is wasted water

  • +7

I have this. Sometimes it doesn't open. Sometimes it opens when I am not in the toilet. The idea is good but implementation is not.

    • +2

I agree. I had two but got rid of one (kitchen) as they randomly open when no one is present or doesn't work when you put your hand.

      • Plug left in the sink = flood = ruined laminate flooring.
Be interesting to see how insurance companies would view this product with taps left on for it to work.

        • I was hoping this device would be good as the taps are always left dribbling at my place, but randomly turning on is a total deal breaker

          • @Jackson: mixed reviews it seems. I asked the rep and was informed there’s 12 month warranty on this product - if there are any issues, they’ll refund or replace accordingly

        • +1

All you'd have to do is disconnect the device before you called the insurance company. Only a fool would leave it on if this happened to them.

  • Thanks, OP. Bought one.

  • Effort reduction amount? If it doesn't sense well, sounds like there's more effort to use it. If it does work, it's saved my 1 push ( replaced by a gesture) and probably 0 seconds

    • +1

I don't think effort reduction is the game here, rather the hygiene / cleanliness of not having to touch a tap. It's 2021, we have automatic everything these days - the ubiquity of touch free taps is sorta overdue.

      • Who in your household are you worried about touching the taps?

Apparently taps have been around since Roman times. How have we survived till now, touching them every day?

My first unit from Banggood was faulty and then after the two weeks of stuffing around with their slow warranty process I received another faulty unit. Never bothered to claim after that but was disappointed

      similar experience here. Never again

    • +2

Sounds like my experience with the inline shower temperature sensor… Never again with this cheap junk.

      • Worst part is I was a huge fan of xiaomi for being quality but seems they must be slapping their name on any crap now

        • +1

Proper Xiaomi products will have the Mi or Mijia branding on them.

Since the beginning Xiaomi have always invested in startups to get them going. Some of these products will be rebadged under the Mi/Mijia branding, while others are resold in Xiaomi stores under their own brand. ZMI for example made the Xiaomi Mi power banks, but then sell their own power banks under the ZMI brand, so the ZMI power banks are technically not Xiaomi.

          • @Clear: Yeah I know so maybe they shouldn't associate with rubbish products

            • +2

@Perrino: It's the Chinese stores selling overseas that are making the associations. Xiaomi don't advertise these products as Xiaomi.

As an example Blackmores sells on Xiaomi's Youpin platform. We don't call it Xiaomi Blackmores.

@Clear: Same here. Bought 6 bidet from ebay for me, relatives and friends . All failed. Xiaomi wouldn't cover anything under warranty that was not sold by its sellers.
All yeelight smart LEDs started failing too. Xiaomi used to be cheap quality brand. Now they cost more but the quality is average

            • @Thegood05: Unless they were Mijia or Mi branded they weren't really Xiaomi.

Thanks op, only BG8d3b7e code worked for me. Second code throws an error when I tried to order 2.

But you still need to control hot or cold. What is the point?

    • I personally find it convenient for when cleaning dishes… I'm able to avoid leaving puddles of water around the sink by not needing to turn the tap handle off and back on between rinsing dishes. Same goes when just washing hands - the area around the sink doesn't get as wet.

  • When I did my bathroom renovation, I brought a mixer from Alliexpress cheaper and better functionality compared to what's avail in Aust market. I didnt end up in using it. This is the reason. My builder friend handed over a brand new luxury apartment after it was completed, the owner decided to replace mixer with an overseas brought one, installed by himself. Went away on holiday it bursed while no one was at home, my friend got a called from building manager as they couldn't locate owner. When he arrived he saw the water meter ticking over very fast. Not only it flooded the whole place, water came down to level below. It wasn't the builder's plumber fault as his plumber installed an Aust approved (aust water mark) mixer. Not sure if it was covered by insurance in this case. I dont think plumber would install a not Aust approved one.
