01

Our favourite slick, stunning small-production imported NZ Sav Blanc is back with a BRAND NEW VINTAGE - RRP of $23, but Mofos and Mofettes get it at HALF PRICE for only $11.50 per bottle.

Clean, fresh, delicate, and racy as they come – it's a successful follow on from their inaugural 2010 vintage, exploding with vibrant citrus and passionfruit flavours.

This is a cut above the wash, as it were – a wine you won't see many places, except perhaps a few good restaurants around the country.

And here on the Fo, of course.

Cool new brand on the scene, quality wines, so if you like your NZ Savvy, over a thousand Mofos will no doubt confirm that this is one to snap up and indulge in what they refer to as “tastes a bit like cloud 9, only much, much higher.”

Much higher indeed…

Wow that's one annoying pop-up, and no way of removing it other than signing up :/

Also does this wine have any ratings or awards? Seems high for yet another unknown (to most people I'm sure) brand of Sav B. Given the glut of incredible Sav B from that region it'd be hard to say it's going to sell at $23

e.g. GWD have a 95-point (Halliday) Australian Sav B for $9.95/bottle in dozens:

  • How does this taste compared to say, Oyster Bay?

    Cirro Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011
Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand – Marlborough
    Review Date - 20-Oct-2011

    16.5+/20

"Bright, very pale straw colour with some green hues and a pale rim, the nose is very fine, tightly bound and elegant, with lifted esters and aromatic gooseberry fruit along with passionfruit nuances. Dry to taste and light weighted, the palate shows restrained but fresh flavours of English gooseberries, passionfruit with a floral lift. There is a soft richness, and the acidity is balanced and refreshing. Smooth, slippery textures lead to a subtle, passionfruity finish. Marlborough fruit from an established site in the lower Wairau Valley, fermented to 13.4% alc and 1.8 g/L rs. Serve with seafood and subtle Asian cuisine over the next 2 years. 16.5+/20 Oct 2011"(NZ RRP NZD$18.99)

'Deal' price comes to $12.58 per bottle delivered.

RRP (as quoted by Max above) NZD$18.99=AUD$14.75 per bottle with no discounts - take off 10% for buying a dozen (this is a MINIMUM discount). This now equates to $13.28 per bottle on RRP with dozen discount. I don't regard 70 cents (less than 5%) a bottle an OzBargain deal. Where's the OzBargain special discount?

There is a sea of NZ Sauv Blanc out there at the moment - some good, some bad - lots of very good deals to be had - not sure that this is one of them.

This is not a deal, this is advertising. And you have to sign-up to get to the 'deal'. No deal, MOFOs.
