Clean, fresh, delicate – it really is a superbly made Sav Blanc, with vibrant citrus and passionfruit flavours, and hints of that trademark gooseberry on the nose.
On that - we’re very curious, with all the millions of Sav Blanc fans in the world, how many have actually tried a gooseberry? Perhaps we should be saying that gooseberries have that trademark Sav Blanc on the nose…
But enough of that. This is a cut above the wash, as it were – a wine you may not have seen on our fair shores.
The Cirro label is reasonably new, they make only this Sav Blanc and a Pinot. You won’t see it discounted on the shelves, they’ve gone into the restaurant and winebar trade, but they love the concept of Vinomofo, and so they’ve offered us a few cases so you can try it.
We really like where they’re headed with the brand and the wines - check out their website - so if you like your NZ Savvy (and you wouldn’t be alone!), this is one to snap up and indulge in what they refer to as “tastes a bit like cloud 9, only much, much higher.”
Much higher indeed…
