Hi all
I have a HSBS credit card and wanted to double check. I ordered an item with my credit card and already paid it off, but can I do a chargeback still ?
Or chargebacks can only be done if you haven't paid off the credit card?

Nah, much longer than that, especially for travel related. Last year I did a charge back on airfare 2 months after booking and no drama. Funny things was the airline played ball with me so I threatened them with charge back and they were laughing at me so I stopped communicating with them. Later they got contacted from the bank and shit out, issuing me a refund but for some reason the chargeback still went through so I ended up making an extra $100 for that.
HSBC process is different from what I've experienced with other banks, they tend to push the 30 day line.
That being said they are extremely helpful in reversing the transaction.
My question would be why you would need to chargeback after paying for item
How can you chargeback before paying for an item?
Yes
I can't say for certain as I don't have that particular card but I've certainly done a chargeback months later and pay my card off in full each month. It just gets added as a credit if you have no outstanding balance.
Technically you have 120 days from the transaction date or from the last date you expected to receive the item to lodge a chargeback claim, as long it's within 540 days of the transaction. Unfortunately, most banks don't like to entertain chargebacks beyond the initial 90 days even though the scheme rules allowed it.
30 days from date of transaction.
Greater than 30 days is still covered by epayments but takes longer to resolve.
