    Glencairn Whiskey Glass $11.95 delivered

    Is that for 4 or 6 ?

    • 1 according to the page.

      • So why would you pay more than Dan Murphy's ?

        • +6

I’m going to hazard a guess and say people who prefer to sit on their arse and spend an extra $1.05 to have it delivered.

        • -2

I worked out the petrol price to Dan Murphy's and back would be $1.20. Plus there is wear and tare of my car. 20 minutes of my life should be worth something? So $11.95 is a good price. Cheapest including delivery that I could find. Amazon have them close to $20 a pop. If you were to buy a dozen glasses, then Dan Murphy might make sense.

            Free for me… It's a 50m walk from Coles…

              's a 50m walk from Coles…

Amateur. I suspect even closer to Woolies.

          • @zealmax:

So $11.95 is a good price.

It's not the cheapest price though…

            • @jv: It will not be the cheapest price once you factored in the indirect costs, and this differs for everyone. Remember, we are OzBargain, not OzStupid.

Thus, we look at the cheapest price, as per the posting rules…

@jv: Remind me, which rule is that exactly?

                  • @[Deactivated]: The rule about posting deals.

                    • -1

@jv: Or, more accurately, the rule you imagine exists, but which doesn't.

Here's a link to the rules and guidelines. 5 minutes absorbing them might help you in future. If you need more help, ask a moderator.

Nope, it's still there. I just checked.

@jv: I'm sure it isn't and you didn't, but I'll play. I suggest you clear your grey matter/imagination cache. After 12+ years on Ozb it appears you've accumulated more than the usual amount of junk.

                            • @jv: Mum was an avid reader but she's sadly no longer available (keyword for you to remember if your cache has room). Like the highlighting?

I guess you'll be poo-pooing plenty of cheap fuel deals (just one example) then eh? The key word for you is, ta da, availability, or 'access' if you prefer.

That link, as you should know, is simply a guide, not a rule. A bargain can entail many aspects, including best DELIVERED price for an item, as this appeared to be. Certainly no-one offered a better delivered price.

As important as it is, price alone doesn't always make a deal. One can exist because it's available from a b&m seller, one seller's reputation or service is better than the marginally cheaper online option etc etc. As ever, bargain hunters will decide what matters most to them.

It's obvious to most (and you when you're not playing) that there are plenty of reasons why someone might take a slightly higher delivered price over a click and collect for example - I'll leave you to cogitate over that. Availability is also a key. If I'm outside city areas or in lockdown I might have no option but delivery. Alternatively a better price might exist in one single store but it's 200kms away and hence unavailable to me (argue that to your hearts content). Or there may be just one or two items available from the lowest priced seller but my seller has adequate stock ready to go. You get the drift I'm sure.

@jv: Their lack of action strongly suggests they don't agree with your imagined law.

You should enquire - unless of course you're afraid your "law" isn't.

Or it could strongly suggest that they haven't seen it…

@jv: Simple answer to that - instead of constantly whinging, report it and let them make their decision.

                                          • @[Deactivated]: You're the only one here whinging.

I was discussing the deal, not having a go at people commenting on it, like you are…

                                            • -1

@jv: Interesting interpretation. Your whinging about the deal not being a deal (in lieu of negging it according to the lowest price rules) is discussion, but my discussion of your obvious misunderstanding of the rules is whinging. Been outside Coles too long? I suggest a short walk to Dan's for your regular tipple.

    • if only 2 or 3 i'll bite

      • +3

1 is enough for me. Don't have friends. Just wanted to look in the mirror and look fancy with Johnnie red in the fancy glass.

  • +3

Seems like more expensive than the normal DM price… Where is the bargain here?

    • +3

      OzRRP.

    • the bargain is spend $1.05 you dont get $1,000 fine from police because going to pickup a piece of glass

      • It's essential !!!

        • +1

confirmed, was on the phone waiting and the automated voice message said don't worry. We're open because we're esssential.

    • What if by some chance you don't have access to a DM store courtesy of where you live or covid-19 restrictions?

Great product btw, used in whisky judging comps around the world, and simply looks and feels good in the hand. There are plenty of other options if you prefer tumbler styles.

Been quite a while since Dan's offered them at $15 a pair.

    • DM delivered price is $17.89 so this is ~33% cheaper to have one home delivered.

      • +1

Anyone paying $17 for a glass to be delivered isn't on OzB

        • +4

          Of course. That's the point.

We have someone wanting to by an $11-ish glass and having it home delivered….and has found a way to NOT pay $17-ish.

He/she is right at home on OzBargain.

  • +2

This costs more than the whiskey I buy

    • proof it or didint happen

  • Last year members special 2 for $15 @Dans - bought then.
But fuel & "wear & tear" on a Delorean makes this a better Deal😃
