Qantas or Virgin Frequent Flyer

Was doing some research on credit cards and was wondering what frequent flyer program (Qantas and Virgin) should I aim towards when I get the bonus points from the credit card? I understand Qantas is a way bigger company and probably offers a bit more. I currently use the Qantaswellbeing app and slowing achieving points but I accidentally applied for the velocity frequent Flyer program credit Card instead lol (didn't do enough research). so currently a bit iffy on which program to stick to.

Any help is appreciated :)

Virgin seems to have more reward seats for those without any status.

I have done both. Finding reward seats with virgin was always easier. Even the day before it was east to find some. International was easier too.

Risk to losing all your points with virgin though is way more realistic.

That's what people said last year when they were in trouble … I still have all my points (I didn't go cash them all out on gift cards)

Depends on what you plan to do with them. If you want to redeem them for flying, where would you like to go and which airlines can you use to get there. The Qantas network is a lot larger (especially internationally), so that may be a factor.

Seat availability is another. Virgin has more seats available; although I've never had issues with Qantas availability - just need to be a little bit flexible with days.

Can suggest going with what the other poster has said and do both.

I haven't restricted myself to one and it enables you to take advantage of better offers when it comes available.
I.e. atm i churned through all the qantas offers and citi were offering a 100k virgin points offer so naturally i jumped.

    • how many credit cards have you churned personally? and how does this affect your credit score/history when applying for a loan or mortgage? Is there a wait time you between each credit card you churn, if so how long usually? sorry for the questions hahah
