That's an expensive umbrella, better be good :)

    • +2

Because it's actually repairable if something breaks. Buy it for life.

I've had my Blunt classic for 4 years now and never had issues with it. It's held up strong against the windiest streets in Sydney CBD with no trouble at all.

I bought a Blunt Classic on sale last year because I normally buy a crappy $20 one every winter. If it lasts over 4 years - which it seems like it definitely will - then there’s the reason.

From all I heard and saw, Metro is too small. I have their classic one and it's a great umbrella. However, Metro fits in a backpack/ office bag where as Classic is too big for that.

I have the Classic (for one) and Sport (for two people). These umbrellas are fantastic and very sturdy. They are, however, a fair bit heavier than any other umbrella I've had - and that includes other premium brands like Davek (which we also have, and are heavier than normal too).

Something to keep in mind if buying them for someone very elderly (fine for a reasonably fit person in their 70s but if older or a little frail, they will find the weight unwieldy).

That said, the heft inspires a lot of confidence in its durability.

    • I have the metro - size wise it feels like a kiddies umbrella. It’s sturdy (although it has turned inside out it Melbourne gusts), but still intact. I’d be hesitant to buy metro again.

  • Xiaomi umbrella is way better value.

    • Unfortunately my Xiaomi's handle cracked where the loaded spring is. I barely used the umbrella so not very happy with it. I then bought Blunt and it's all good so far.

    • +1

My Xiaomi umbrella has seen use about five times and the opening mechanism is starting to fail.

    • +1

Our Xiaomi one broke after a few uses to. There's no way our Blunt one is breaking any time soon.

I’ve had one of these for a few years now and it’s been great. Small enough that I keep it my work bag all the time so I never get caught out in the rain, and it’s very well constructed so strong wind doesn’t (profanity) it up like the cheapies you get at the supermarket.

Do you actually own one and recommend it? Or are you just posting it because it has the words 'Windguard' and 'Umbrella' in it?

I ask because some of the reviews aren't too promising.

      • the latter - I did purchase it because of the brand

As a Metro owner, it's way too small to keep you dry. Nice build quality, but I'd give it a miss next time.

  • +1

I’ve had this for a few years now and really like it. It puts up with the Melbourne weather!

  • Damn that's cheap. I haven't been able to test it out yet as there hasn't been strong winds, but maybe that's a good thing …

There's more options from the eBay store via this link.

For those who prefer to buy from Peter's of Kensington directly, they have the Classic Houndstooth 1.0 for $79 and Classic Pink 1.0 for $69.

  • +1

Classic houndstooth is out of stock. I had my eye on it but missed the boat.

    • I bought the classic houndstooth for $75.89 (with eBay Plus) via another eBay shop. Don't know if the price is historically low though.

      • +2

Lol, I did too! I think the price difference was about $15.

      • +2

Mine just arrived! It's beautiful!! Think you'll probably love yours too.

        • I’m really keen for it now. Stay dry!

  • I've owned four of these. Awesome deal!
These are great presents and metro is the most convenient sizing for people to travel with.

    • And none have broken (with the oldest nearly 10 years).
