    now the real question
How good is virtual 7.1 for $5, does anyone have a review of these?

Although to be honest $5 for headsets are good any day of the week.

Wait nvm, out of stock everywhere in WA but Karratha…

Virtual 7.1 SS does not exist. Its a marketing gimmick.

Even on "expensive" gaming headsets (under $200) the virtual 7.1 surround sound is just a way of clarifying which audio signals it can actually receive. If you're listening through a 3.5mm jack I doubt you could send that much information anyway, so it means more about what signals can be sent to the USB receiver and then encoded to stereo.

Unless your headphones have 3-4 individual speakers on each ear (which is a waste!) you're only hearing stereo sound - stereo headphones for years have been able to play recordings that "sounds 3D", so this is just a new term in line with home theatre changes.

There's a very long review of these on YouTube.

      My 2c:

I bought them at $10 and didn't expect much. But for $10 they're great.
The light up led are cool.

Sound quality is ok if you don't expect much. They are actually comfortable despite what numerous reviews say. I have a large head and they fit just fine

For $5 its a no brainer.

      • Do you have an idea of what price range you'd find similar quality? How does it match up to something that costs 50-100?

        • +1

I have a couple pairs off Sony noise cancelling headphones and the Kmart ones aren't as good. Sound a bit muffled but maybe needs EQ adjustment.

Kmart ones are pretty good in terms of build quality. Feel solid and the braided cable is a nice touch.
On par with $50-100 RRP headphones, no doubt.

    • Everything in gaming is virtual & the headsets cost much less than the better quality ones.
      Value for money definitely outstanding.

surprisingly good shit… when i got it for 20. for 5 its a no brainer.

    No noise cancelling and wireless?
    No deal :P

    • +1

??? For 5$ find me something that meets your criteria for double the price!

  • So I started getting annoyed that I paid twice as much ($10) given my local Kmart must've had at least 20 in stock of these when I bought it.

Checked the website and its showing oos.

    Smiling again

Grabbed one for the young fella - was surprised at the sound and microphone quality. Bought at $5 on Saturday but didn't post the deal because there was no stock.

The have cool LEDs in the ears and on the mic too. Came with drivers but they have been working fine as plug and play. Would recommend them if you can get them!

  • Is this on-ear or over-ear?

    • +1

      On ear

  • I got them from $20 clearance and thought they were a bargain! Very comfy (for my large head) and mic is good
