  • Good stuff, thx

No one uses Bryce etc, Maya is industry standard…waste time learning this crap

    • Never mind the quality, feel the price.

Whilst someone doing it all the time might go for Maya, or others, someone who just wants a one off set of capabilities can't beat free and legal.

For those not wanting to get marketed to again and again, try http://10minutemail.com but be advised there are three emails in total that you'll get; including the SN for the software.

Oh, and over 1.5GB of downloads.

I work in the industry - i wouldnt call maya the industry standard by any stretch of the imagination…

bryce aint anywhere near it either, but it is fun to play with and has some features that people in industry do actually use.

      • totally agree,
Hexagon is a great learning tool to get into subd modelling,
looks quite similar to modo too, which is not bad at all.

      • Hey takigama since you actually know what your own about, How does maybe the hexagon 2.5 compare to solidworks? My work is about to fork out shitloads for solidworks (such a rip off). If I can save them heaps of cash it will probably go to beer for fridays!

    • Mmmm, they don't use it for "professional" purposes (film, tv, game) etc, but it has it's place.

I was following a guy who was making a pretty decent webcomic using stuff like Poser and Bryce. He could get some fairly nice work out if it and focus on the story and framing of shots rather than spending a lot of time modeling, rigging, texturing, posing, lighting and comping.

Sometimes you just want to get something to screen quickly and you don't want to go through the rigmarole …

So, for one who's dying to get into the industry (no matter what its 'standard S/W, is… this year…), this freebie (if it's not infected with malware) might be a platform to learn & develop a portfolio, showing what they can do.

They can use their portfolio to get contracts, jobs, etc. (possibly after adapting their skills to a client-/employer-preferred S/W).

It still costs more time than might be needed if the 'standard S/W were available in a cost-free version, but it's still a deal (again, IF not infected by malware…)

    • You'd be better off trying to get a student version of Max or Maya. If the only thing in your portfolio is DAZ stuff, it's probably not going to work. For a hobbyist it's ample.

  • Yeah your right worth checking out version 7 cause its free, as long as their are no Trojan's ;).

Anyone got the email validation yet?

BTW anyone know where to get "Viagra" bulk and cheap ;)

    cheers,

Awesome! And these applications are used in the industry, not for serious modeling but for concept artists etc. they are really great tools! Thanks for the heads up OP!

  • Cheers!

  • Always wanted to be able to do some sort of 3D art on a computer. I suppose this should kick me into gear (after I learn Android programming..)

  • Does yahoo email work for this?

Did not get any confirm email yet and it has been more than 24 hours ?

What email did u use as I don't want to use my real email as I will get spammed.

Checked the spam folder - nothing.

Anyone has a direct email to this DAZ3D? eg service @Daz3d or something???

    cheers,

    • It took a LONG time for the email to come through on my Yahoo. I would advise to use another email if possible.

  • Nice deal
