Hope someone in the know can provide some input. We somewhat frequent power outages. Is this battery + some inverter of sorts a possible solution to run appliances? Looking for an alternative to a petrol generator that is more convenient
hey mate, in this scenerio you should pay attention for contunious output of the battery. 100Ah good quality batteries can hold 1000W inverter, with cheapies you need 2 for 1000W inverter. Depending of your load requirement it might be an expensive one. (if you just want to run a fridge you can probably get a away with this and small inverter)
EDIT: this one claims 100A cnt output but I would be skeptical as it is very uncommon on this level range.
The peak discharge current is 200A for 5 seconds. It will be suitable for handling instant increase of current draw.
Fine for smaller gear like lights and maybe a TV. Motors might pose a problem, as they tend to draw up to 5x their running current when starting, such as might be found in the compressor of a refrigerator.
Shame, as the fridge is just about the most important electrical item in the house, and given it stop/starts repeatedly you can't even use a trick just to get it started.
Here's the testing video on YouTube
Cylindrical or prismatic?
No answer, that means cylindrical or worse, they don't know.
That's a no from me!
It also cuts off at 9.4V, which is too low and will decrease the life of your cells.
Finally, the case says not to bin it, because it contains lead! :D
It literally says in the linked product page these are prismatic.
Fair enough!
I still maintain that I think 9.4V is too low, but the hardware looks decent.
Hi, we use prismatic cells in all of Enercore batteries.
With 4 of these in parallel is the continuous discharge still 100Ah?
It will be 400Amp standard continuous discharge, and capacity will be 400Ah.
I bought this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/20-22-OFF-VOLTAX-12V-135Ah-Lithiā¦ instead the other day "135Ah" for <$400. (No way of knowing yet how real those Ah are.)
Too good to be true
