Wow these drop in price fairly quickly

    • +1

Updated version probably on the way.

    • Bose is still the gold standard in ANC but I think the 700 faces some serious competitions around the $350 mark (XM4, Surface Headphones 2, Aonic 50, PXC 550 II, their own QC 35 II). Which is good for us I guess.

      • I thought Sony took the ANC crown

      • Have to admit the 700 have better ANC for mid frequencies than Sony. But their sound is much worse than sony

      • I'm no Apple fanboy, but the AirPods Max destroys them all

        • +2

I get the down vote, but whoever did it, have you at least tried them?

I have tried the MDR-1000X (currently own), XM3, XM4, QC35II, H8i, and AirPods Max and it beats them hands down.

          No contest.

Sure, they're overpriced, but they've managed to do something where the ANC is astonishing when blocking out voices. I was in a packed Apple Store and without music playing, voices were hardly audible.

They sound great, too - way better than the XM4 (which I find to be muddied).

  • +6

$300+ used to be the price of QC35
Can't believe 700 dropped to this price too

    • +1

The QC35s need an update I still like the design

    • +3

It's because it's a downgrade, even though the 700s are newer they have poorer reviews since QC35 I and II were so well received. They should have just refreshed the QC35 to make model III, would have been a smarter move

      • I just hope they don't discontinue the line
Qc35 with extra battery life and USB ç I'd buy another set.

      • I'm not sure if I disagree or not with this. I had the QC35 and sadly lost them, upgraded to the Sony 1000XM3 but couldn't handle the awful bluetooth connection management so ditched them for the 700s.

700s are great, super comfortable, good ANC (equivalent to the Sonys in practice), actually have good mics and the bluetooth multiple connections works well. Anyway for ~300 price range they are great and won't be disappointed

    • Could be something to do with Apply Music Lossless being released. None of these current bluetooth headphones support lossless audio - not even the Airpods Pro! I read somewhere that the next bluetooth revision is likely to support this though so may be the reason manufacturers are flogging old BT headphones now.

Funny that - you currently can only get lossless music via wired connection. None of the current iphones have any headphone jacks. Except the 6S (a 6 year old phone)
which is the last iphone with IOS14 - required for Apple Music Lossless.

      https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT212183

(Typical Apple creating a problem and selling you the solution - I can hear the keynote speech now… "…but wait, there's one more thing… We're happy to announce the new Airpods Pro 2 - now supporting Bluetooth 5.3 / 6.0 for a low price of $1000 and preorders are available now…)

If anyone prefer the black one:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/164871734280 $334.62 with PEOFY22

    • This one can be stacked with eBay Gift Cards too

  • This one or sony xm4?

    • +3

How much do you use the microphone? If very little, then the XM4. Otherwise, this.

    • +5

I have owned the Sony's and the QC35 II (realise that's not these). But I MUCH prefer Bose. Can paste in all the reasons I said in past posts if it's helpful.

      • Would be interested.

        • +1

          https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/sony-wh-1000…

The Bose definitely a better purchase, especially considering they can be had for $100~ less on a good day. Outperform in every category, except slightly on ANC.

The Sony's sell heavily on brand and style. But, they're just fine also. As you can see, a lot of people prefer the Sony for whatever reason.

          @devondale16

I said things like this: <paste>

Great price for the QC35 II, still regret getting rid of my last pair for a pair of WH1000XM4.

I see how people love them, don't get me wrong.
But for me the number one issue is heat. I don't mean generated heat from the device. Sweat really. I don't sweat at all in the QC35 II, for me they are the most comfortable set of headphones ever. I can wear my Sony now for 10 mins and be a sweaty mess. Cups stuck to my ears.

That is my main gripe, also like button placement much more on the Bose, yes mic absolutely better on the Bose and even prefer the software and been annoyed by non obvious but constant notification noises that only seem to be an issue on the Sony, tried switching notifications off then boom another bullshit chime noise right of the top of my music that I didn't experience with the Bose.

For me, Bose was a 10/10 and the Sony a weak 7/10 if I'm being generous. Realise it would be very much personal choice. Build of Sony itself feels superior and the touch controls work very well and are awesome af to use.

I might be insane but I also prefer the NC of the Bose which probably makes me the only person on the planet to do so from some light reading on people's preferences. Anyone that buys Sony I feel will not regret it but, yeah, Bose takes the win for mine.

Source : I have owned and used both models for a significant amount of time including other overseas extreme tempatures back in the days when there was an overseas..sweat conditions I'm talking about are on the coldest of days in as far southern Victoria as you can get. In my opinion, comes down to the choice Bose and Sony made for their pads.

          • @seamonkey: @seamonkey @runean Thanks appreciate hearing opinions. I think you've swayed me to get the QCs.

          • @seamonkey: Haven't tried the Bose but the WH1000XM4 made my ears super hot too and ended up selling it off. Interested in the QC 35 when a deal comes along.

          • @seamonkey: I find my cups on qC 35ii are sweaty after listening for awhile anyway. Not sure if any other headsets make a diff like how the Sony is far worse in making you sweat…I. Always thought as the pleather is like on your head direct to skin that sweat built up pretty quickly. Not sure if good headsets have good air to avoid it becoming sweaty underneath ear pads???

    • +1

Had both before, XM4 for sure. If you need it for video conference, phone call, this one will probably be a better option.

    • I have both, I prefer Sony but my girlfriend finds the bose more comfortable.

    • +1

      Sony

I hate the headband on this Bose, feels like a bloody sharp clamp.

    • +1

XM4 has terrible build quality, mine lasted 3 months and they made warranty near impossible to deal with. Would definitely not recommend Sony until they change their design drastically.

  • +1

Still rocking the QC35's and going strong, otherwise great price… crazy drop

  • -1

310 with Amex credit. Thanks OP

  • Great price for a fantastic pair of headphones. Will not disappoint.

  • Are these worth the premium over QC35 though? I thought it dad mostly form factor/style upgrade.

    • +1

      I bought the NC700 solely because of USB-C over QC35's micro-B

      • But what's the issue with peeps with things not having USB C?* I have all cables from tech over the years. And it's cheap and easy buying micro USB cables. Is it just the fact of having or USB C cable to use between multiple devices on go vs hassle of having an USB micro packed in bag too? Or is it something else?

  • I would recommend trying them to check the comfort. I had them and they clamp too hard on a localised area around my ear because the ear cups themselves do not pivot unlike Airpods Max which are heavier and yet much more comfortable. After using quiet comforts, these were a massive downgrade as far as comfort is concerned.

  • Which one is better QC35, 700, or sony XM4? did I miss any thing?

    • Also would like to know these compared to Momentum 3 wireless.

    • Keep in mind that Bose QC35 II (2017) has Bluetooth 4.1 and Micro USB.

      Bose 700 (2019) & Sony XM4 (2020) have Bluetooth 5.0 and USB-C.

I couldn't justify buying QC35 II in 2021 because of that. Although QC 35 II are $50+ cheaper.

      • The QC35II gets a better rating on rtings.com
Regardless of BT and Micro USB, the winner is clear.
        https://www.rtings.com/headphones/tools/compare/bose-quietco…

      • What's the difference between having bt 4.1 vs 5.0 on the 700 and Sony?* Does it result in better battery life or audio quality? Otherwise why does it matter?

    • What about Apple?

  • +1

My QC35 left cup died after two years. One would think paying top dollar means they will last more than that. I was wrong. Customer service offered me QC35 II for $400 LOLMAO

Apparently they cannot be fixed/too expensive to fix. I'm still surprised. Not sure if buying Bose anymore.

  • +3

I had a pair of these and returned them within days. Chronically bad issues with stability, and whilst searching for support found that sooo many people are having similar issues. Firmware updates seem to make the problems worse, not better, and sometimes result in bricking the device.

No thanks. Sent them back, got refund, very happy with the Sony XM4.

Damned shame, as when they did work (not often), the audio quality was stunning.

    • Wow just gave it a few days without trying a replacement device. What if your first xm4 also had issues? Would you rule them out instantly too?

      • They were effectively unusable. It was clear from the history of issues on the Bose forums that there was a systemic quality issue with them. It therefore made zero sense to persist.

        • Don’t look at the xm3 subs haha!

  • +1

Looks like a price match for videopro in case anyone is interested since this deal is marked as out of stock.

Unfortunately they seem to have removed all their eBay listings though, not sure when that happened. Otherwise an even better deal might have been possible.

  • +1

Can Bose 700 switch between different devices?

  • Damn, missed it, would've preferred black though.

  • Back in stock, black is available now as well.

    @SpaceNinja

  • How are these for connecting 3 devices?

    • Think they only do 2.

  • +1

price match at jb-hifi and use discounted GC to get further 5% off ?

    • I did this. I price matched PC Byte ($329) and purchased gift cards at 10% off. So paid $296. Happy with that.

  • So as qc35ii owner can anyone give the short spiel on why the Bose 700s are the newer model. Are they meant to be a more premium quality and better audio? Or better battery life? It seems most here are saying the qc35s are better for rating I E. Audio quality. Is that true?* Or is the 700s many to be the more premium model?

    • I picked up some 700’s today and I use the 35’s daily. I upgraded for 3 reasons:
      1. The microphone on the 35’s is terrible. Picks up someone putting a spoon in a metallic sink 3 rooms away and makes it sound like they smashed a symbol next to the microphone. It was impossible for phone calls.
      2. The USB-C charging is convenient with a lot of my other devices also using that.
      3. The better noise cancelling - and it has better NC control like ‘conversation mode’.

They’re the 3 main reasons. My 35’s are still awesome headphones. If the 700’s weren’t at an all time low and I couldn’t write them off under tax I’d stick with my 35’s.

      • Does the headband and ear pads feel less comfortable compared to your 35s? Looking at the pictures the 35 just seemed to look more comfortable?

I have the Jabra elite sport buds and have that exact problem. Walking outside I get complaints from the Mrs how loud normal wind and other noise is. Renders it useless. So far the QC 35s I have had a much better time without getting complaints though?

        • I haven’t had any comfort issues. The Sony MX4’s I found were terrible for comfort. My ears didn’t fit in them well at all.
I actually think the headband on the 700’s felt nicer. But both Bose are great.

Yeah okay, I wonder if my 35’s were faulty all along 😂

  • Do we think this will be even further discounted with Prime day sales? It’s not on sale yet, but could they add it within the next two days?

    • Now down to $299 as part of lightning sale.

  • Do we know when its going to expire? Will it still be 330 until the eofy?

    • Not sure but it is also 330 at JB Hi-Fi and other stores, not just Amazon.
