For anyone new to detailing, I'd highly recommend CarPro. Decent price, high performance. I've used their products professionally and they constantly perform great. Follow the instructions, you really can't go wrong.

    • Happy for recommendations for an relative n00b like myself please…

    • I second that.I use the carPro Reload for my ceramic coating. However the spray doesn't work now

CarPro Perl gets the vote from me. Just started using it and love how versatile it is as a tyre, plastics and engine bay dressing. Can be diluted depending on application.

Apart from that, I think the basics from Meguiar's, etc. are more than enough for beginners to get great results. Easily available from Supercheap and Repco, and are often generously discounted in price.

  • I buy Collinite 845 Insulator Wax for my cars from Waxit.

    Very quick to post purchases.

    • search on Amazon, they are cheaper on single and twin pack, I bought a twin $63 delivered from us. A cheaper option for twin is $56, but when I check out the seller removed it.

Pretty good for the price IMO. Scholl Concepts is quite well regarded.

Will need a 3" or smaller DA polisher to tackle smaller areas, though.

The Shinemate DA's are a really good tool, and great support from Waxit. Scholl S20+ is a fantastic all in one compound, great for beginners and professionals alike.

  • Hmm. Anyone compared the self applied ceramic coatings or waxes, with the ones you can get professionally applied? Picking up a new car in a few weeks, and was planning on taking it to a car detailing place to get a ceramic coating professionally applied

    • like any detailing product, prep is the key, and it could take hours (even for new cars)
anyone can spend ~$100 on a bottle of ceramic coating and coat their car
but not everyone willing to spend hours polishing and prep the car
and the result can be night and day
plenty of vids on youtube if you plan on DIY
