Wilson Pro Staff Precision Team 100 $11.96 ($11.66 with eBay Plus) + $7 delivery @ Wilson Australia eBay

720
PFYS20PEOFY22

This seems to be very cheap for a branded tennis racquet. List price is $99.95 at Wilson Australia website.

The racquet comes pre-strung and no cover.

Designed with a new frame shape to generate an extra degree of racket responsiveness, the Pro Staff Precision Team 100 infuses power to a series known for its pure precision. Its fused composition of graphite and aluminum creates an appealing mix of stiff and flexible properties for enhanced playability, while the midsized head provides the traditionally precise sweet spot of the franchise. Advanced recreational players craving more precision must give this frame a long look.

Damn, missed out. I need a new racquet too!

  • +2

Ah damn it. Bought one earlier today

Now that it’s ozbargained it’s definitely not going to be honoured haha

Wilson has a history of not honouring pricing errors like this if you look at some of their negative feedback.
Regardless, they’re still a great company and I recommend you look at their other racquets which are much cheaper than the ones at stores with the 20% off codes

  • Available again, got 2 thanks OZb

  • Any thoughts on this one for a casual social player: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/154436867909?var=454506107029

  • How do you play, do you like to have a full swing at the ball or just block everything back? XL frames are designed for people with short swings and little power, a lot of older women and men to a lesser extent use them.

Bigger hitters and more athletic players need a lower powered and heavier frame for more control and spin to keep the ball in the court.

Additionally light stiff frames like that are much more likely to give you elbow problems.

@mauricem: Let's hope so. Waiting on it to be picked up by auspost as they could still cancel it I guess. Wait and see…

mine was refunded, damn it was about to embark on a career that would eclipse Djokovic, oh well back to Netflix

  • +2

Well just got a message saying it was a price error and they are cancelling my order :(

Got offered a 40% off voucher which is something I suppose. Anyone have any ideas of a decent alternative racket to the one in this deal?

Congrats to anyone who managed to get theirs.

    • Strange how some are being honoured, some aren't. Mine is being prepared but not sent yet, they can cancel any time. It seems the ones "back in stock again" aren't being honoured? Let's see.

The 40% off voucher is good for racquets like this: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/154457687177

Assuming you're a beginner, this would work well as it's super light and manoeuvrable, powerful and has a big head. Usually for $100 (check stores). The grip is excellent too, the one they use in $300+ racquets, it makes up for the lightness of the racquet causing some twist. If you get it for $36 with the 40% discount you've got something decent dirt cheap.

light raquets are ok for some but not a good idea for others especially if you play against heavy hitters.

BTW my order of 2 frames has moved from being processed to sent, I forgot to add the discount code (my ozb membership will probably be cancelled for admitting that;)), dont know if that made any difference

        • Depends on the person, light racquets are easier to swing so less swingweight = less elbow issues, although the racquet can twist from ball impact but that's negated by the excellent grip. Volleys close to the net are an issue against heavy hitters due to the torque, but heavy racquets will destroy your wrist from high swingweight if you're a wristy player so there really is no perfect suggestion.

The price however (40% off), and being OzBargain, make the rxt 105 a steal. Not much difference in specs with $250+ light racquets.

I'm injured and can't play for a while so all I can do is give advice and watch from afar

          • @Mr Bargain Hunter: "light racquets are easier to swing so less swingweight = less elbow issues"
sorry Id have to disagree with that, light stiff frames especially if strung with poly at high tensions are a recipe for tennis elbow. Heavier frames absorb the inertia of the ball and transmit much less shock to the players arm and elbow.

            https://tenniscompanion.org/best-tennis-racquet-for-tennis-a…

Shoulder troubles on the other hand can be helped with a lighter frame

            • @mauricem: Typo I meant less wrist issues.
Google "RF97 wrist" and you'll see thousands of people getting wrist injuries from the heavy racquets pros use.

That aside, even without the code you got a good deal, $22 for a racquet retailing $90. I had the OP's Precision Team 100 for a while, people will definitely need to work on their precision in order to use this to its full extent, but it will improve your game. Grip size in the deal is smaller, I'd use an overgrip.

      • Thoughts on the Pro Staff Precision 103? At RRP of $140, $50 sounds like a pretty good deal on numbers alone.

        I am a beginner/casual player.

        • For beginners I always recommend larger head frames. A 103 in frame is in the middle.

          Precision 103 pros:
          - Head Heavy balance means good for shorter swings, good plow-through power. Racquet does a lot of the work for you. It's like swinging a hammer. Slow but powerful.
          - Graphite better material than fibreglass even if combined. Probably will last longer
          - Extra length so more court reach
          - Has the "pro staff" label, instantly more marketable and has better sell value

          RXT 105 pros:
          - Head Light balance means good for full big swings, you need to provide the power to the racquet. Like swinging a table tennis racquet. Fast but you need to generate your own power.
          - Bigger 105 in frame, bigger sweet spot so you have more room for error

Grip size also important. Kmart/Big W racquets are all 4 3/8 size. See if that fits. If its too big you think, get a 4 1/4. The 3/8 is the standard size.

          • @Mr Bargain Hunter: Thanks for the detailed reply. Think at this stage I’ll enjoy the RTX more. If I’m not having fun I won’t want to play as much.

Plus if I go with the RTX I can save money and upgrade to something better later on.

            Appreciate your input :)

        • there is also this in 4 1/4

          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/154457687196

I bought 2 of these in another wilson deal a few weeks ago and they are great for the price! Graphite construction, light, big head, the pre-stringing doesn't seem to bad either (definitely strung for power)

  • Maybe your order snuck through before they realised something was up. Got to get some benefit from getting on the deal early.

Thanks for your suggestion on the racket and your in-depth response. Might just settle for that one as it seems so much better than the rackets in the big department stores for a similar price.

Anyone care to share there 40% code, that is if you are not using it, I could make use of it?
    Thank you.
