  You can earn cars over time - but the time commitment required to earn the better cars is ludicrous. It's a standard "pay for fun" sort of game (Zynga model).
  
  If you're happy to pay for fun, there's no problem. But no, it isn't free. It either costs money or crazy amounts of time.

I didn't like this game much. The Gameloft driving games like GT Free+, Ashphalt 6, and NFS Shift 2 are much better.
