  • One pair of what?

  • Cheaper at Coles 🍐

    • -4

1/2 price bonds smugglers for the win.

    • +1

How much are the Step One boxers at Coles?

      • Title updated so joke lost it’s shine

  • Decide to give a pair of these a go! Hopefully they live up to their hype!

    • I bought a stack of them during the last black friday deals - super comfy, very happy with the purchase

  • +2

These are worth it. I have maybe 10 or 11 pairs, 5 with fly so good for work. Would recommend anyone try at this price

    • +2

      That’s a lot of underwear!

      • +1

        thats what I thought!

      • +21

Really? If you're doing washing once a week and wearing a pair a day, with a few extra if you're going out a few nights a week, I reckon it's a fair number. I have more than 12 pairs.

        • -1

Jesus, I’ve got 6 pairs. I had no idea some men had so many pairs. Most guys I’ve dated have a few pairs and are lucky if one doesn’t have a hole.

          • +3

@UndeclaredFreak: You/they obviously like washing clothes. I don't and once a week is enough for me.

            • +5

@R4: @R4 I don’t like it, it’s just necessary. If I did washing just once a week, there’d be too much to wash. So twice a week.
No hate, I was just genuinely shocked as I haven’t personally seen it.

          • +4

@UndeclaredFreak: I think they're not changing their underwear daily. Quite easy to go through double digit undies if laundry is weekly.

            • -2

@jubs: @jubs I change my underwear daily. Double digits weekly? What are you doing to soil your underwear that you’re needing multiple pairs a day?

              • +5

@UndeclaredFreak: I'm with jubs; wear a pair at work. Then if I'm going out after it'll always be a fresh pair if I can make it home to cleanup (keeping your junk pleasantly clean is always a plus guys), always change after any morning workouts too.

          • @UndeclaredFreak: Nickname checks out.
Maybe try to date different sort of guys for a change.
I cannot possibly imagine wearing underwear with a hole in front of a girl?
I am an old school guy, showering and putting on fresh underwear before going on a date.

            • @tm001: @tm001 just because they didn’t own 20 pairs of underwear doesn’t mean they didn’t shower or change their underwear daily. I’m not going to not date nice, kind caring guys for that reason either, especially when don’t own that many myself.

      • -1

Yeah seriously, guys there are these devices in the laundry called washing machines, you can use them more than once a fortnight (profanity).

        • we've had those for quite a while

    • +3

"5 with fly so good for work."

      What do you mean?

      • +2

Check their products and you'll know what he means

        • +2

I just checked and I'm going to need a little help with this one.

          • +3

@callumds: @callumds I too am baffled as to how a fly is good work. Maybe outdoor work that requires easy access to pee on a tree?

          • +4

@callumds: Flys are so you don't have to undo your belt or mess around with your clothing. Someone in a suit, think business person etc, can just unzip and go instead of undoing a belt and partially untucking a shirt.

            • @Camm90: Cams on the money. Suit pants. Unzip it, whip it out, have a slash, give it a jiggle, tuck him back in and then zip it back up.

Also, I have 2 small children and my washing is low priority. I do have older bonds that are like last choice if I run out.

              • +2

@slimdealin: Do people actually do this?…. Am I weirdo for not doing this…

                • +3

                  @chriise: If your suit pants are;

                  Unbuckled at the urinal,
                  Or,
Around your ankles at the urinal,

                  You're doing it wrong

            • @Camm90: Huh, I've never needed to work in a suit and tucked in shirt, so I guess this never came up for me.

    • I take back my comment “that’s a lot of underwear” considering there are many people on this forum that have 20+ pairs and think I’m a weirdo for thinking that’s odd. 10 now seems rational.

      • lol, I only have a lot because they are cheap when you buy in bulk and I travel for work and can't always get the washing done while I'm away, before I go or when I get home.

The longer boxers are also ok undershorts as running tights so dual purpose.

Being bamboo the sweat-wicking is good, but they take a while to dry, after exercise and washing.

I also recommend sizing up, no so much for comfort, but the stitching is a little weak and the less strain on the seems the longer they'll last.

  • +1

Ordered a pair, curious to see if they stack up to the hype.

    Thanks for posting

  • +8

The K-Mart bamboo feel amazing and only $8. Check them out

    • I just ordered one for my partner. Have you tried both Kmart and stepone? Thanks

      • +8

I've had both. K-Mart seem to be better quality

        • How's quality long-term? Has it lasted it? pros and cons vs the cotton kmart ones (the basic monday, tuesday etc). Theyre good, but i feel like bamboo would feel better.

          Pros and cons of step-one?

          • +6

@Bisah1342: I got 5 pairs of step one. They all started to deteriorate after a few months. Holes, loose stitching, fading etc.
I've had 7 pairs of kmart for around 6 months. No issues in any of them.

            • +1

@vanreek: I have 7 Step Ones. All purchased 8-12 months ago.

Not a single one has any issues thus far.

          • +3

@Bisah1342: Quality even short term is bad. I had mine pilling after the first wash and was told not to wash them with jeans or zippers and in a delicates wash bag. I thought they were the delicates bag.

One of the five I've had to throw because the hem ripped apart pulling them up quickly - so best make sure her husband won't be home for a while.

            But they do feel amazing.

        • Do you have a link? Which ones?

        • can you comment on size differences between them? im keen to try the Kmart ones keen to know if they run big or small.thanks

      • +1

I ahve. They step ones ride up for me, Kmart don't. Kmart feel a lot better and comfier overall.

    • +1 K-Mart are great value. Find them better than any Bonds pair I own

    • +2

Can you please help me with the link for the K-mart bamboo briefs?

      • +7

I think they're referring to these:

        https://www.kmart.com.au/product/anti-ride-mid-length-bamboo…

        https://www.kmart.com.au/product/anti-ride-bamboo-blend-trun…

When I was looking at the Step Ones a year or so ago, Kmart definitely didn't have these, so excited to try now. Think I'd probably go the shorter ones for $6, too. Wonder what percentage the 'bamboo blend' is compared to the Step Ones.

        • +3

I assume you know "bamboo" just means synthetic rayon fibre made from cellulose derived from bamboo instead of cotton.

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bamboo_textile#Bamboo_rayon

          • @lunchbox99: So if poly makes my nether region sweat like i'm in the middle of the tropics then these will too?
ATM it's cotton or forget it.

            • +1

@killabob: Well polyester and rayon are not the same. PE is more sweaty AFAIK.

I would defer to someone who has actually tried them.

Rayon is a versatile fiber and is widely claimed to have the same comfort properties as natural fibers, although the drape and slipperiness of rayon textiles are often more like nylon. It can imitate the feel and texture of silk, wool, cotton and linen. The fibers are easily dyed in a wide range of colors. Rayon fabrics are soft, smooth, cool, comfortable, and highly absorbent, but they do not always insulate body heat, making them ideal for use in hot and humid climates, although also making their "hand" (feel) cool and sometimes almost slimy to the touch.

        • +2

Bought the Mid Lenght Bamboo ones. Very good. Feels like you are not wearing anything. Would recommend.

          • @pformag: How's quality long-term? Has it lasted it? pros and cons vs the cotton kmart ones (the basic monday, tuesday etc). Theyre good, but i feel like bamboo would feel better.

            • @Bisah1342: Had it for a month. Very soft compared to cotton. Feels like a sports t shirt feel. Doesn't ride up the middle as much. I bought it for running, but now swapped all my cotton ones out. No shrinkage in the wash so far

        • Thanks so much mate.

        • can anyone comment on the sizing of the Kmart ones?

          • +1

@Christoshizz: Picked up some K-Mart ones today. Bought the mid-length and regular, and ended up preferring the mid-length for extra ride up prevention. I usually don’t go with underpants this long, but they make sense in this context. I have a pair of Step Ones as well, and these feel very close in quality.

I usually go Medium or Large in underpants, and from buying both of these sizes here, they feel pretty close to each other. I’d be confident buying the size you usually get, but if you’re between sizes probably go up, since the gusset is going to be applying a little bit of pressure to prevent ride-up regardless.

Also, in response to my original comment, they’re 94% bamboo and 6% elastane for the body, and 88% nylon and 12% elastane for the gusset.

Overall, recommend, and think I’ll replace all my underpants with these.

    • +3

Thanks for the tip, didn't even know Kmart sold ones like this so just ordered some. Long term Step One user here so keen to compare.

    • The basic Kmart cotton ones are good too, and are 7 for $20

  • +5

I definitely rate these. Chucked out the rest of my other brands.

This is a good way to try it out without committing to buying 15+ pairs. I'm hoping they do another EOFY sale and bring it down to $11-12 per pair again. I need more!

  • +2

Love mine, will never go back to any other type of briefs 👍

  • +1

I've been wanting new boxers that don't ride up so decided to try these out, ordered my first pair yesterday with the standard mailing list sign up 10% discount code…
I should have known there would be a better discount on OzBargain today 😅😭

    • Don't know if it's too late to cancel the order form yesterday?

      • Good idea, but my order has shipped now..

Oh well, win some and lose some!

    • is riding up because of bad design or is it a sign that they are too big/small? find it annoying as hell too

      • No idea! I currently wear the Uniqlo AIRism and they seem to fit correctly but ride up like crazy. I'm keen to try the Step Ones and will also get a pair of the Kmart ones mentioned in comments above.

  • Can anyone comment on how they compare to Under Armour 6" Charged Cotton?

  • +1

I honestly find the knobby’s undies far more attractive. https://knobby.com.au/

    • YMMV. I disagree. They're ok but wouldn't buy these again.

  • +10

$30 for a single pair! Wow, maybe I'm out of touch but that seems steep.

    • +12

Gotta subsidise all the adverts somehow

      • -6

That fat guy ate all the profits

      • Totally. I think late night tv would have no ads at all if it weren't for these guys popping up every 5 minutes.

      • +4

I must live under a rock because before this post I’d never heard of them

    • But at a 50% discount it becomes so much more reasonable!

  • Has anyone tried these in comparison to the Uniqlo Supima cotton version?

    • No, but I use the Supima non-cotton (polyester?) version. The legs still ride up for me on those.

      • is that the Airism (thin) one? i don't like those.

but yes, leg ride up is an issue on all of them for me

    • +1

Yes, I have both. Prefer the stepone although Uniqlo is just as good. I am a larger guy, so I tend to chafe on long hikes and such. But for everyday use Uniqlo makes more sense.

      • could you elaborate on why uniqlo is better for daily use?

        • My bad - cheaper -> easier to replace when they get worn out.

The life of step ones also seem to be a bit shorter, haven't had one rip yet, just those weird string clumpy things in the thigh area, which doesnt happen with uniqlo.

  • +7

Last time I googled this company I was really spammed by their advertising on every YouTube video I watched for months. Not making that mistake again.

    • -3

      Get youtube premium.

      • +1

ublock origin is free and doesn't support their goal of ruining youtube

        • -6

          Enjoy your ads then.

          • +6

@nepalesesquirrel: the whole point of ublock origin is that it blocks ads.. i haven't seen an ad on youtube in years lol

            • @[Deactivated]: Oh nice does it work only on pc or can I block ads on Android YouTube app?

              • +1

@montorola: Download Youtube Vanced on Android, you need to go to the website as it's not on the Play store. Looks and behaves like the Youtube app without the video ads.

              • +1

@montorola: i use firefox on both PC and my phone. you can download ublock origin on both. it won't work with the youtube app.

  • +4

These are out of stock but definitely fantastic value and quality.

You might be able to find some in-store.

    • Awesome undercrackers, didn’t realise they were on clearance, looks like I’m off to Costco on Friday

  • +6

Aren't these mobs the ones who had "pricing error" numerous times on this site, but never honour it?

    • +1

They honored the 15 pairs for $78 many moons ago. Although they did try and guilt trip many people into canceling their orders

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/446806

    • I'm not sure which deals you're talking about but they did honour the pricing error on my order which I found through Ozbargain.
