    However, not all apps support this. That is up to app developers I guess.

    Here is a workaround if an app doesn't support PIP.

    For any iOS app that supports AirPlay, send the video to your television by hitting the AirPlay icon. (This looks like a square with a little triangle underneath, and should appear once a video is playing on your iPhone or iPad.) Once the video starts playing on the big screen, you can shrink the video to a picture-in-picture window by tapping the remote, swiping up, and hitting the picture-in-picture icon. You can then open any other app on your Apple TV and start playing video in a larger window.

  Are these ideal for viewing Netflix, Prime Video & Youtube or are they much more capable and I'm better off with a Google TV?

    These devices come with (somewhat) serious hardware inside and its own operating system tvOS. So using it just for Nextflix, Prime Video and YouTube would be waste of resource in it. Still you can if you want but you can use AppleTV to do more. Maybe you will discover more things to do once you have it. There are around 15000 apps you can install, play games etc.

    For example I need one to use as Homekit Hub to control Homekit devices remotely or via Siri.

    Some people previously mentioned that watching YouTube on AppleTV is better than watching it on SmartTV YouTube app. AppleTV provides more accurate colors.

    It really depends on your need. I would stay stick to cheaper device for YouTube and Netflix.
