  • Where are you getting your quantities from? Your list is twice the amount it's showing for me?

    • +1

I think it's saying 2 lots of 2 steaks, 2 lots of mince etc etc but it's really confusing…

    • +1

The product page listing is a bit confusing, but the value adds up.

      From their support earlier today:

"You will receive 2 x packs of Porterhouse steaks, (4 steaks) if Porterhouse is sold out you will receive Scotch Fillet as a replacement, but not both. The Boneless Shoulder is 1.5kg and the Bone-In Lamb Leg is 2kg, however we are sold out of Lamb Leg, so this has been changed to Lamb Shoulder. The Pack value is the same either way. "

      • Ahh ok, thanks for clarifying!

  • Skinless Chicken Thigh Fillets 4x 500g

    I think this mean for a 500g pack there is 4 x pieces), hence 2 pack = 1kg (ie 8 pieces)

    • Yep, I believe so

  • Thanks OP; with the Coupon Code and factoring in Free Delivery it's pretty hard to argue this isn't a good deal

  • Thanks OP, got one. If the meat is good quality it's a great deal. Otherwise it's still a pretty good deal.

  • Thanks got 1 pack

  • +1

    This actually worth it?

  • Ordered, thanks

  • Ordered too. Thanks. Hope is good quality. Miss farmer's markets.
OP might want to change the chicken thigh quantity. (1kg , and not 2kg worth).

Where do the butchers dream up their RRP's?
Could we get a price breakdown?

I feel the butchers forgot their calculators today

    • Theres a link next to each item name which will redirect you to the page where you can buy the items individually. Yes they're expensive but not more than I've seen elsewhere.

    • reminds me of kathmandu rrp prices ….nobody ever pays or house rrp on baccarat knives nobody ever pays ….

$30 kg for topside for their normal topside ….woolies wagyu topside is $22 kg …..

at $43 kg for porterhouse and $65 for eye fillet rrp on their web site it’s easy to offer big percentage discount and still be expensive ….

      • +1

I priced it at Woolworths and it came to around $95. But when you buy from a butcher you generally get a more premium product. If I hadn’t just done my weekly shop I would happily spend this to get that pack. Woolies mince is full of water, their steaks are shite, their roasts have thick layers of fat.

        • +1

          Plus there's shipping
Plus you're buying in bulk so it should be cheaper
Plus there's no guarantee of the quality of meat

          • +1

@Drakesy: For someone pretending to have a clue about meat you're doing pretty badly both here and in the previous thread you proudly linked to. Keep paying too much for crap from Woolies if that's what you want, nobody cares if that's your jam.

            • @mickeyjuiceman: Not sure where you get the impression i'm doing pretty badly.
Calling out spam for what it is has flagged the previous post and the Ozbargain community would agree.

    • +1

The same place you dream up your useless comments?

  • +1

Ordered. Thanks OP seems decent value.

  • Ordered at $79 thanks OP

  • +1

It's hardly "great" value, but it does look decent. About what I pay in Ballarat from a good butcher for locally-sourced meat.

  • OOS…

  • +1

$180 value? A couple of random items from the site at their rrp:

    Eggs - $10/dozen
    Porterhouse - +$40/kg

    • +1

Let the OOS decide the value lol .
I know a lot here have no clue on grades of meat . Best for them to shop for discounted supermarket meats .

      • +1

Do you have evidence that this is better quality?
Other butchers on here have been dubious at best with their quality.

        • Do you have any evidence against the quality?

          • -1

@Hinee: This has been the quality that butchers through Ozbargain have been churning out.
            https://imgur.com/NOXZ5hB
            https://imgur.com/MfVI2jV

I'll let you determine the quality. And until someone show's evidence otherwise this is what i'll stick with.

            • @Drakesy: What a joke - you have precisely 0 evidence whatsoever on the quality of product from this store yet you've made your mind up it's so bad it's worth a neg.

For what it's worth I have a friend who's extremely happy with his recent Sutton's order too.

              • -5

@Hinee: I'm not here to tell you how to spend your money, merely flag deals, Suttons being one of them.

Not sure why the hostility though. Ozbargain is a democracy, don't get so cut up over a single downvote.

              • +1

@Hinee: Forgot him. He has an unhealthy obsession with these sort of companies. Let him be, kind of entertaining.

Doesn't see the irony of demanding evidence but can't provide any of their own :)

      • many butchers now try to be specific about which farms or areas their meat comes from now, Cape Grim chuck is $18 at my butcher, these guys have chuck for $22 from who knows where …. tasman meats chuck is $13 kg and they cut up carcasses rather than get cryovac in boxes …..price doesn’t determine quality , but marketing can determine price.

  • +3

At $180 this would be very poor value indeed. There is not one premium cut here really, the lamb is now shoulder, the bulk of the meat is mince or sausages (with artificial skins), porterhouse is the toughest of the pan steak cuts and the thigh fillets are skinless!

    • I cried when I gave somebody grade 7 Wagu steaks . He cooked it in oil on his fry pan .

      BTW My Dad lol :)

      • +1

        What's wrong with that?

How would you have cooked it?

        • -1

          Dip it in dogshit

      • question if he enjoyed the steak ….. some people eat tuna raw, some cook it, yep wagyu has enough fat that it cooks without adding more.

  • Back in stock

    • And ordered , long wait though 18/06 .

      • Yeah cutoff was 8am today for this week's delivery

  • How do you get the $20 referral discount. I click on random link to add the box but price didn't come down at checkout?

    • They will have emailed you a code

    • It looks like the referral system has been removed or temporally removed, as I no longer see orange button on left and I think referral link was in my account before but can't see now.

I placed order very early this morning and coupon code created in orange button area straight away when clicking through referral link. I didn't really get a confirmation/receipt email except for a 'Get $20 off for every friend you refer' with 'thank you for the order' in the email while not telling me what I had ordered (email received approx 2 hours after ordering). If the new confirmation email doesn't have this information then maybe further proof hey have got rid of referral system.

      • +1

They know they will sell it out without the referral system so they just removed it . That's just biz or greed lol .

  • +1

i've created an account will see what happens. won't be ordering till i get my discount, otherwise, it's not all that great value

    • Its all down to whether its exceptional quality or not . $79 or $99 is nothing .

  • Curious to know how the meat pack turned out? Was it worth it?

  • Has this arrived for anyone? The estimated delivery date is listed as 18/06/2021 (I placed my order on the 8th) and no dice.

Have contacted them twice and not heard back.

    • For anyone playing at home, I contacted them via the email on their website rather than the webform and got a reply within a couple of hours.

Once they knew about the delay they were super quick to get it sorted. The box just arrived earlier and the quality looks good with most of it sealed up in vacuum bags. A couple of eggs were cracked in the carton but I think that's to be expected.

Most important thing to note is that the box doesn't have any ice bricks in it and is instead transported in a refrigerated truck, better to be home to receive it rather than leave it sitting outside (compared to sutton that ships a styrofoam box with a bunch of ice and ice bricks in it).
