Refurbished Apple iPad Pro 11" (2018) 256GB $909 Shipped @ Apple Store

421

Decent price for what is still a very competitive tablet. If you wanted the 120hz screen and face unlock, there is a case to be made this is a better buy than the current gen iPad air. Certainly cheaper than what a lot of people are asking for on gumtree/ebay for used stock of this device. Not for everyone, but someone might find this good value. Keeping in mind its ~$400 extra for a new, current gen one m1 ipad pro (nearly 50%!), which is functionally identical for the most part.

  • How does it compare in performance to the new iPad air 4th gen?

I am looking at one of these to use the Creative Cloud suite

Beyond the screen and the higher multihreaded workload (doesn't matter beyond heavy compute workloads built for it), poorly.

You can preorder the M1 11" IPad Pro for $1080 anyway: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/628692

This is a much better option imo

Being 3 years old what condition will the battery be in? How much does it cost to get a new battery when the battery dies?

  • +18

Bad value for an old model considering the new is ~ 1150 after discounted giftcards @ 5% at shopback.

250 dollars more will give you twice the performance and far greater second-hand value later on.

Agree. Putting CPU/GPU aside, the M1 is Gen 5 with 8GB RAM. Gen 4 has 6GB. Op is Gen 3 with 4GB RAM. Personally I'd pay the extra $250 for the M1 deal if I can afford to. $250 is well worth the much better CPU/GPU, more RAM, more cameras and LIDAR, 3 hours longer battery life and of course the brilliant 1000/1600 peak nits screen (vs 600).
I think I have just convinced myself to buy the 2021 Pro LOL.

You don’t get that screen on the 11, only the 12.9, but I agree and would still say the newer model is the better value purchase.

        • My bad, yes 11 inch gets the same nits as last gen, 12.9 jumped to 1000/1600 which is a big jump over the previous gens.

With eBay plus you can get new model for around $1100, however that would be 128gb

Refurbished meaning also slightly bent? considering how easy these things can be bent

Apple refurbished are usually like new (vs 3rd party store sellers refurbished which are usually secondhands), from customers return or change of mind (because of their 14 days return grace period).

To be honest most people won't feel the difference between this and the m1 model. Sure, get a better spec by paying a bit more but this is absolutely fine for doing what iPad is suppose to do. Mine is 2018 with 64gb, and its perfectly capable to consume media and browsing without skipping a bit. The 4gb ram is surprisingly capable as well on the iPad, I often open an app I used weeks ago and found it still maintaining what it was doing the last time I used it.

    • +1

Exactly my point, for most people this is going to be fine for what they need. Not like the m1 ipads really take advantage of the speed yet anyway

    • if all you are doing is browsing and media consumption than any of the pro devices are overkill. this one though is just a bad deal due to price, yes it will easily do that job but you may as well pay a little more and get something twice as fast with much better resale value.

  • +9

Not a good deal, considering brand new prices.

  • +1

Great if you want fast Facebook and browsing, but not for real pros. All the apps like photoshop and other high gpu games will be optimized for new M1. Also this isn't much different to ipad air (except refresh rate)

    • The m1 iPad is definitely more future-proof but a m1 MacBook would be a better choice for productivity, when you take in account the insanely expensive keyboard cover

    • +2

pros dont really used ipads its a marketing gimmic

BS, I do 4K video editing with the 2018 iPad Pro and it’s great, can’t justify upgrading.

      • Gd luck with next few updates

  • This price for a used 3 year old tablet? lol

  • Lol, already one person selling on gumtree for $950.
