    • I guess the big problem is that Bing Lee don’t even sell discounted gift cards anywhere.

I have never seem them listed in any of the discount gift card portals I have access to, plus it does not appear in the wiki page.

  • Worth to wait for 15% off before new iPhones release?

    • Last year a week before Xmas was 15% off in Coles

      • +1

Assuming there was enough stock for you to get your hands on.

Popular deals always get bought up quick so it could be a risk to wait only to find limited stock.

        • You are right

  • +1

Time to pull trigger on the iPhone Pro Max 128GB then. Don’t think I’m getting any discounts in the near future.

  • +1

I used 14 by $100 home cards at Good Guys for my laptop and $700 worth of various denomination on an Air Con at a different Good Guys. No issues from anyone apart from the amount of time to scratch all the pins at the register. Both items were all reduced by the sales person, so payment method has no impact on price. Good luck. I will by buying enough this time to get a split system.

    • Is $100 the highest one can buy for these cards?

      • I haven't seen a higher denomination of this type of card, but there is no limit I have seen anywhere on how many you can use to pay for your item. It's just an EFTPOS card after all.

    • can these only be used in store?

  • +2

I am after indiana jones 4K boxset when it comes out

So I'll buy a $100.00 him card and wait till they have another wicked wensday 30% off blu rays and then use my discounted Him card for another 10% off

  • Do you guys check each cards balance after you buy them ?

  • If I were to buy a $6k TV in Oct-Nov time, is it better to wait for a potential 15% off or do those sales happen only on December?

    • +1

My guess is 15% off might never be back anymore if this 10% off sells just as well.

  • Does the Pamper card work at Endota?

    • +1

I believe so. Best check yourself. If you use this link, scroll down to the directory and search by postcode, you can find the list of saloons that are available. I tried with the postcode '3000' and there are a few Endotas in the Melb CBD that popped up.

  • +2

Just a call out for those in VIC metro… given this lockdown is extending slowly if you are looking to purchase these to use immediately for a purchase don't do it!
If you can planning to buy now then use later… all good! As most are in store redemptions.
For example a few weeks back Supercheap giftcards were 15% off (can't recall which card network it was tied to), then over the w/end they did 30% storewide - only issue the stores were closed and these giftcards are like eftpos savings cards so you can't use them online/over the phone.

  • can you buy these online or in-store only?

    • In-store only. It says so in the catalogue.

  • Great, cant wait to buy the athlete's foot GC

  • I can only see $50 cards in the Coles catalogue. Where do you find the gift cards in store? Can you use gift cards in conjunction with cash/other payments?
First time buying gift cards. ty.

  • So will it be $100 cards tomorrow?

    • +1

Will find out when shops open.

      • Any idea where they're normally located in a store? I don't know much about these things.

        • before entering the store ask the info desk staff where they are located in that store.

  • Does anybody know what values these come in as?

    • Also do JB/TGG have limits on what can be used online?

      • From memory, TGG has a limit of two gift cards per transaction, JB is five per transaction.

However, you may be able to consolidate multiple JB gift cards into one card on the JB website.

        • After consolidation, can you use it online with JB?

        • +1

          how do you consolidate?

  • -4

or put the $100 into crypto and wait for 20% jump (which happens on a weekly basis) and cash out and get more profit than a 10% savings in GC.

Now x this with $xxxx amount more

  • +3

Only him & her GCs scanned as 10% off this morning. Home did not scan @ 10% off.
Note: These are the only 3 I tried.

    • +1

Yeah confirmed not working on home.

    • Did they allow you to buy more than 5?

      • And they said it's $50 value only. Very odd. Anyway going to give it a pass this time.

      • +2

        I was able to get 5x $100. That's all I tried for

        • The tills automatically stop u from buying >5 and not thru self checkout aswell

          • +1

@fatming: yep confirmed by a staff member that I spoke to this morning - apparently, an internal note went out in the last 24 hours saying there's a 5 card limit per transaction, and that after 2 are scanned, staff have to ask you about being scammed (prompt comes up on the self-checkout as well, and stops you scanning after 2 until a staff log-ins)

    • +3

The baby $100 gift card is also 10% off. The Home $100 didn't scan in at 10% but the $50 does.

    • Damnit the home one is the one to get

    • Home works, ask them to check their promo notice or sheet, whatever. They refunded me the 10% after checked that. Brought 5x100 home
They won't allow me to use giftcard to purchase which is a bit sad. My wife always be able to do that.

      • The register operator told my they can't take the 10% off manually. I might try again later

      • My store didn't even have the $100 home cards at all.

      • you can use coles gc to pay

        • They won't allow me to do that. Was told "you can not use gc to buy gc" I know some staff don't care, but some does.

          • @ce5himm: ask them to try it and show me the error on system otherwise give me in writing

            • @ozbargainerlife1: It's they don't allow me to use, not the system won't go through.

              • @ce5himm: ask for manager. I had to do it today

                • @ozbargainerlife1: I didn't have that much time during the morning school run. Actually my coles gc is only 3% off not too much savings. I can live with that.

        • Did you use the self-checkout? did it go through?

  • +2

    confirmed home card doesnt work

    • JB Hifi sell gift cards themselves right? So I /guess/ the "him" card is still useful right?

      • Yes, him/get works.

        • No I mean if I don't want to shop at JB, I can buy, other gift cards for other outlets, from JB.

    • No, it works. Maybe system haven't updated yet, or someone's mistake. They checked their promo sheet, and refunded me the 10%

      • My local literally didn't have any home $100 cards anyhow for some reason.

    • wish I had seen this comment before I bought my cards

  • How many gift card or values can I use online let’s say for the good guys? Thanks

    • Based on replies here, you can't use it for TGG at all, since the home card isn't discounted.

      • But it says the home gift card is discounted above?

        • It does but read the comments.

  • +2

My local Coles manager said Home cards aren't discounted even though it clearly says in the fine print that that are.

  • Worked fine at my coles

    Scanned at the discount price

    • what value were the cards?

      • $100 & $50 Baby

The staff seemed to know about some not scanning up though.

  • Got $100 baby with no problems, 5 is the limit

  • Does JB HI FI has a limit? I remember there was a limit until they lifted it.

    • +1

Not hear anything yet. Normally they don't, last time was only for 1 or 2 days.

  • Do the cards activate straight away or do you need to wait 24 hours after purchase?

    • Wait a bit. You can check balance online.

  • +1

5 X $100 Him cards. Got a warning leaflet about scams, otherwise just scanned in at $90 each.

  • +2

Confirmed home cards not working. Others worked fine. Loads of stock too, not like the 15% off time.

    • I just bought 2 x $100, it clearly says in description they are included, I didnt realise till I got home no discount, not impressed

  • Anyone know how many gift cards can you use per transaction at baby bunting?

  • So can anyone confirm what other cards I can buy at JB to 'cash out'?

Does JB Sell BP, Woolworths, GoodGuys, etc cards? I need to decide how many of these cards I buy, because I do like JB but I don't want to be locked to only JB Sales.

    • +1

The type of gift cards they stock in-store really depends on the JB Hi-Fi store you visit, but as far as I can tell, they probably only sell gift cards related to mobile app stores or online gaming stores.

I visited three around the ACT last month checking gift card stock…

      • All stores had JB Hi-Fi gift cards and iTunes gift cards.
      • One had Google Play gift cards.
      • Another had Nintendo e-Shop cards, Steam cards, Xbox gift cards, PlayStation gift cards and Stan gift cards.

I have never seen any prepaid Visa/MasterCard/EFTPOS gift cards, nor any gift cards for other major retailers (e.g. Woolworths, Coles, Caltex, The Good Guys), so I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

      • Thanks heaps - that's very useful information. So you'd really want to hope, the item you want is at JB itself.

I doubt JB themselves, offer JB Cards discounted. Though Nintendo / Steam maybe, if unlikely.

I have about $370 worth of TCN now, trying to decide what to do with it, I got 3 years.

        • You could always redeem them for JB Hi-Fi digital gift cards on the TCN website if you’re certain you will only spend them at JB Hi-Fi. JB Hi-Fi gift cards have no expiry, so that is something to keep in mind if you want more piece of mind.

  • +2

Home cards worked for me, 10% off $50

    • maybe they have corrected their system now

    • +2

Read above comments, $50 ones work, the $100 ones don't

  • +2

I bought 2 x $100 Home cards this morning, got home and realised I had been charged full price. Checked card balance online and $100 on each.
Went back in, got told the card isnt in picture, they arent included, I argued that it was in description, manager was rude and told me to ring Coles help desk, he cant refund gift cards.
    .

    • +3

Called Coles Care and they are willing to investigate. We need to let them know it!

  • Home doesn't work. Went to 2 different locations.

  • +2

I bought 5x$100 Her cards and 5x$100 Home cards. Got 10% off Her but no discount on Home. Went back to the front desk of the supermarket.

At first the lady at the front said only $50 were on sale and pointed at the catalogue as only $50 cards were shown. After I showed the receipt of $100 Her cards and argued with the manager, the manager agreed that 10% off should also apply to $100 Home cards. However, they could not refund me as these were third party cards. The only way to solve it is to talk to the Coles Care.

So came home and rang the Coles Care, got a case No. and sent through the from and back scan of the gift cards and receipts. They said they will investigate.

I have friends got the same problem and will ask him to call for a new case, so that they know the complication of the case.

    …to be continued.

    • +1

yes I argued with manager too, and got exactly same response

      • +1

My friend called Coles Care just now and seemed that they have received quite a few calls regarding the same problem.

  • Asked at JB Blacktown if you're able to use them on their gift cards. Manager says no. Oh well.

    • Why would you not be able to? the card works like an eftpos card… you are just buying a gift card and paying via eftpos? Also why would you want to because you are then limiting yourself to just JB.

      • JB have changed the terms of purchasing JB gift cards using these eftpos cards, this has been restricted after the 15% discounted gc last year. People want higher denomination cards say $500 instead of 5 x $100 gift cards, that's why they want to swap.

        • How can JB care? You are buying a JB Gift card with EFTPOS are you not? Or do these not work like EFTPOS?

  • I was trying to buy the $100 HIM card this afternoon but ended up being told by the cashier that it is not on special and only a $50 face value card on special. Location Melbourne, VIC.

    Did anyone get this problem?

    • No, that's not right, I bought all $100 Him GCs, though wanted to buy Home GCs, anyways got 7 cards without any issues, but 5 in one and remaining 2 in another transaction.

      • Thanks. Do you think I shall try again another shop? Cause the system did scan as $100 without any discount. Strange.

        • Definitely if you can go to another coles or go to same coles but different register person, that helped me this morning.
