Virgin Mobile: Samsung Galaxy S II - $39/Mth for 24 Months + 5 Months 50% off = $838.50 Min Cost

190
fusion

Virgin Mobile currently has a promotion for 50% off access fee for 5 months for certain contract plans. Combined with the monthly $39 access fee for the Samsung Galaxy S2, this brings the average monthly fee to $34.95 (over 24 months).

It's not as cheap as the previous Virgin deal for this phone that has expired or the Vodafone $29/mth deal, but the $39 'Big Plan' comes with $650 call credits and 500MB monthly data allowance which may suit those who use more than 250MB a month.

[EDIT] To get 50% off the first 5 months, use the promo code 'fusion' when purchasing online.

  • This is a much better deal than the old deal. For $35 a month you get much more calls and data.

  • would take it if it was 12 month plan

  • +2

If it was 5months free, it would be worth it

  • Does anyone know if I can upgrade my plan (24 month contract) to this deal?

    • Found it:

      Upgrading a Post-Paid account.
If you want a new phone along with a new plan you'll need to pay off your current handset and any outstanding charges and service charges for the current month.

So disappointing, Australian telcos really know how to loose customers.
      Waiting for more competition……

  • Bring back the $30 deal.

Vodafone have the phone on the $29 plan + $5 for the phone with first two months free, you probably would want to increase the data by700mb for $4 a month too,

Still looking for a low $ 500s unlocked outright buy so I can use my TPG sim

And what Vodafone do for you other than selling the phone?

    • $574 plus $13 shipping from MobileCiti isn't bad for Australian stock with Manufacturer warranty.
I too was looking for under $550 but eventually bit the bullet, given that the price will drop within the next 6 months and I'll make a claim against 28 degrees credit card.

      • $550 + $19 postage @ Kogan: http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/samsung-galaxy-s2/

And buying outright does give you to shop around (LC, TPG, Telstra) as deals and requirements change.

The near $250 price difference is $10 or so a month and will get you heaps more data and calls than the Virgin offer.

SGS3 must be getting announced VERY soon if they are discounting these.

Awesome awesome phone. Probably still the best OVERALL Android phone.

  • My iPhone 4s is giving me the sh@@s, crap battery life I have gone back to using my iPhone 4, I really like the look and feel of the samsungs the sgs 3 way be the way to go.

  • Yes I do like the SGS2 very much, but dont want to take a contract this late in its life. Will wait for the S3. I only want a $29 plan though so hopefully they will have a plan catering to a user like me.

Thanks, was looking to upgrade my Virgin phone plan (only had a month left on contract). I called up Virgin and got the deal approved and since I am an existing customer I got 6 months 50% access fee discount instead of 5. Those interested in the plan might consider calling Virgin to see whether they can get an extra month too.

I look forward to finally being able to access the internet via my phone. :)

Thanks for posting this, just got my self a new samsung galaxy s2 with 6 months 50% off access fee.

You can look forward to a new phone (I have an SGS2 and it's great) but don't look forward to accessing the internet. In Sydney my experience with Virgin has been patchy at best. Standing in an area will full HSDPA reception, sometimes the internet will work and other times it won't. My friend is also on Virgin with the SGS1. We often joke that only one of us can use the internet when we're gathered together because their towers are overutilised. Sadly, it's often true.

Before I get flamed, yes I've tested my phone and his phone using a Telstra SIM and they're both in perfect working order. You really do get what you pay for. As soon as my contract ends I'm going to another provider.

Any idea how long these deals 'fusion' last before they dissapear?
Got 2 months left on Vodapoo but will can it early if i have to to get this deal

      Please stop insulting Poo.

    • The accepted nomenclature is "vodafail". You're welcome.

  • Deal is great, company is not, their support is absolutely hopeless, I'm a customer of virgin for over 3 years and my last year is terrible with them, people from support give me random ideas of why something is not working. When I complain a lot they credit my account with 5-10-15$ but I spend hours on the phone. Had mobile broadband with them too, cancelled last year as quality deteriorated in last 6 months. Can't wait for my phone contract to finish and switch to Liveconnected of even same optus but with Woolies.

    • You escape your destiny, unless you go with Telstra.
I believe things will change someday……

    • +2

Liveconnected or Woolies would be the same or worse (Optus network), at least virgin tries to have decent customer service.

      • now I'm thinking of having no mobile phone at all as there are no good providers in Oz) I still have 7 months left with virgin so hope that things will change by october.

  • Hopefully Voda matches the deal soon. I know some people here dislike them, but the network works well for me personally.

I think your the exception rather than the rule.

Today I spent 90 minutes trying to contact them

First try) Waited 20 minutes to chat with them and when I started to speak to the operator I lost reception
Second try) Waited 20 minutes again to chat with them and when I started to speak to the operator I lost reception
Third try) Waited 20 minutes again to chat when them.

I started telling them off because I had been charged all these charges because their account balance feature is more than 5 days behind. They said it's my fault for going over even though I set up the balance alert feature when I have $100 credit left. So I told them ok telecommunication ombudsman it is and thats when I spoke to the supervisor. Immediate after speaking to the supervisor I got a credit for the calls spent. I still don't seem victorious as I lost 90 minutes of my day for their sub standard service, technology and quality.

But at the end of the day how can I be a winner when I'm with Vodafone.

      • I feel your pain, I spent 1.5 hrs waiting for an operator but then they just hung up on me. Go into the vodafone store and they tell me to call them again, ended up waiting another 1.5 hrs with them hanging up on me again. I will never go on vodafone again, terrible service and reception.

      • "But at the end of the day how can I be a winner when I'm with Vodafone."

Rofl… classic, you never win with Vodafail.
