Looking for a Elizabethan Collar/Dog Cone

Dog is going in for an operation in a couple weeks, she already has a plastic cone but hates putting it on, was looking at some fabric/soft material ones instead but not really having much luck. She is a golden retriever so her current cone is about 25cm

The best I thought I found would probably be something like this from Petbarn

It depends on what kind of surgery / where the wound site will be on the dog. My dog is a flexible master at getting around cones and I found that the Kong neck-pillow style one was too short for him and he could easily get around it.
We ended up getting a fabric one like this http://www.thewoofshop.com.au/all-four-paws-comfy-cone-black… for day time, and unfortunately while we slept he had to go in the uncomfortable plastic cone as it was the only style that he couldn't get around.
eBay also has some novelty types that my family have used with success on their dogs, such as https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/133726947580?hash=item1f22bf48fc…

Apparently a pool noodle with the collar threaded through it makes an effective alternative. We haven't tried it because my boy (labrador) didn't seem interested in chewing stitches or bandages in his most recent operation - but on a big dog those big hard plastic ones take up so much space, so any alternative is worth investigating!

  • This looks good.

Wish I'd bought one when my dog had her leg operation. The plastic ones are terrible.

Edit: if you search Amazon you can get other colours…if pink isn't your dog's colour. ;)

Depending where the stitches are I've heard of people having success with using a tshirt or child's sleeveless onesie on their dog - undo the press studs for them to go to the toilet, then do it back up when they come inside.

    • In my search for collars I came across "surgery suits" which sound like what you've described. An old onesie would be cheaper, I'm sure!
