Thats about the same price as in Aldi buying separately

    • +4

I would say probably 10%+ higher than Aldi price

      • +3

Pretty much the consensus from previous posts.

      • +1

Yeah but probably better. Hard to get good steak at aldi.

This is from a previous post they made.

I'll let you make a decision as to the quality

          • @Drakesy: Oft, that should have been trimmed a bit more…I imagine it wasn’t tough however?

          • @Drakesy: If I go to butcher, I will not buy meat with this quality. Agree that they just spam here

          • @Drakesy: Thanks for sharing. I was going to order until I saw those pics.

Looks like the work experience kid butchered those steaks.

            • @malich: I've ordered from these guys once and the sirloin wasnt anywhere this fatty.

But this is a warning I guess for future buyers.

Please give us a cost breakdown
    1. I don't see how you could possibly sell this for $152, and don't say the quality is better than the supermarket, it's a marginal difference at best.
    2. You're buying this in bulk so surely it'd be cheaper.

I admit though you seem to be getting slightly better with the pricing.
    slightly.

    • To be frank all butchers mark up big time, my local shops are ok but beef prices are still astronomical, you would have thought they would have dropped

      • +1

Yep, especially since we reached the export quota to China midway through the year.

Methinks there's some hoarding/cartel pricing going on, a bit like wine which should be falling through the floor.

        • My mates on smaller farms aren’t seeing substantially higher prices than a year ago, yet beef and lamb prices are skyrocketing at Coles/Wools/Aldi.
If I didn't know any better I’d almost start to think those people that keep talking about that “Great Reset” video, by which ever global foundation it was, might be on to something.

          • +2

@mapax: Some would say inflation in action.
Others would say it's taking our money to line the pockets of big business execs.

Either way the average consumer is set to lose.

      • +3

What blows my mind is the prices of things such as lamb shanks, pork ribs, pork belly, innards. My dad has been a butcher for decades and we used to get that stuff for free. Now pork ribs are $20/kg at woolies, who pays that much for ribs…sigh why do people have to ruin everything

        • Everyone’s got an appliance to cook them sadly properly, and the price skyrocketed

        • People realised those cuts were damn tasty.

  • I don’t think it’s a bad deal, considering I’m time poor and it would be a quick way to fill the freezer. I’d be sold with a extra 2 steaks haha

I find the hypocracy of downvoters amazing. Why can’t they get an “ad” in once a week or two? Others get to - shopback, cash rewards. It’s not like these guys post too often. Some people can’t get it delivered from aldi. Some people prefer to support the small guy. Why should woolies and Aldi get all our money?

    • +4

I think there's a certain "quality" we expect from the prices of big chains - we sacrifice the "better" things in exchange for comfort.

I can't argue why would I go out of my way to buy something mediocre , and pay more for the same as a big chain offers?

We shouldn't "support small guys" just because they're small, they should also show us why they're better or atleast different?
I wouldn't go to a small store to buy a plastic shovel for 20$ if I can get a metal one from Bunnings for $10…

I'm all for supporting the small businesses , but they should care about the end product they deliver to consumers too, it's a 2way street.

      • -2

We’re talking about a downvote though.

Why ignore the $1 milk. Why ignore the treatment of suppliers for your $10 shovel. Why ignore that Woolworths use their power for shareholders. How can the small guy compete with Woolworths?

        • +2

Then you didn't read my comment, did you?

A downvote isn't necessarily a 'hateful act' , it's just a disapproval , people do not approve of the produce in relation with the price, quality, and alternatives - which is reasonable , I think so?

Like I said, we compromise on Quality from Big Chains in exchange for comfort and price -
I wouldn't mind paying more for a better cut from a local 'small business' if they actually justified their prices by actually selling me better quality.

My argument was - why should I pay more for the same or worse quality? What do >I< , The consumer, get out of it?… I understand there's the part about morals - but if every time I wanted something 'bad quality' - I ran to a small store to pay %% more for the same thing I can get elsewhere , in relationship with wages and inflation - I'd be out of money pretty fast myself, who's gonna support me? Not the small guy selling me a lousy steak for $50, yeah? I'd probably have a better time finding a steak on sale at woolies.

I know they can't compete - that's the good thing, they shouldn't need to compete, they should be better and provide an alternative, better solutions for consumer needs -

I don't wanna pay more towards a small businesses if they screw me the same way a big business does :)

          • -2

@The Milk Man: I do not go and downvote every Woolworths and Coles deal because of the treatment of suppliers. I’m talking about the downvote, the hypocracy. A deal is more than cost and convienience.

            • +2

@grasstown: Small businesses are not entitled to our Money because they're a Small Business, just the same way a Big Business doesn't deserve our downvote because of what you assume is a disgraceful treatment.
I wouldn't know about their treatment so I cannot comment on that matter - I do however know Woolies and Aldi and Coles all provide a workplace for many people, they're an important part of the Australian Society. An argument could be made the could treat workers and business partners better.

Small businesses do not deserve our money because they're a small business - I could be a Freelance Hitman, would you support me?… Lol.
Businesses need to justify their existence and remain relevant.
I'm sorry you don't like it.

    • +3

I struggle to see the 'hypocracy'. Ozbargain is a democracy which is the beautiful thing about it.

If a deal is bad then you're entitled to down vote it.
Before standing up for a 'deal' maybe read a bit into the history and then you'll understand that the op has a history of abusing the ozbargain site for a free ad space.

Just because its a small business providing average cuts of meat at falsely discounted prices doesnt mean it has a place on the bargains page.

If that was allowed we'd be drowning in spam. If people dont like the deal, they're more than entitled to downvote.

      • +1

I also think what people dont like is that they say it "was $152" but that some inflated nonsense number and the deal at $99 then is questionable.
