    A great pack.

In other news, Paddy Pallin finally updated their awful website so that you can filter properly without the page messing up.

    • I noticed that… and now they offering free shipping options on the prices $49+ before discount

      This is a hiking backpack.

    Only ugly ass Orange available

As much as I love Osprey, I doubt you will find any of their colours particularly palatable.

Not even sure the Daylite comes in straight Black anymore.

Osprey love their grass green, neon blue, violet purple, shocking oranges a bit too much.

      • Agreed, Green I could deal with.. the others not so much

some new designs out, probably heard the comment son ozbargain.

      • It does, I bought a black one a couple weeks ago when this clearance started (but was $40 instead of $35). Had to go into a store to get a black one though, luckily the Melbourne CBD one is right by my work.

Apparently they using bright/odd colours because of the safety… in case you get injured or lost.
They even have a whistle in one of the chest buckles and some of rain covers comes with hi vis stripes.
I read about this somewhere… apparently this type of backpacks are really popular in the cycling world.

      • coloured packs are better for visibility. then again, i cycle with a black crumpler nestegg pack which i only bought because it's covered with a reflective pattern.

    • +3

that's good in a way…less likely to be stolen

      • True, but I've never had any pack stolen yet ever so not high on my list on concerns

  • Wish they had it in black.

Do they still offer lifetime replacement?

I've had my porter for years, still going strong. Mrs bought hers and almost instantly broke, they (osprey) fixed it for free though, was just a big inconvenience since we were overseas.

    • Yes they do

The last time I contacted their warranty representative in Australia - they stated in their email 'Please be aware that the warranty on Osprey products in Australia is for two years only and does not include damage due to wear and tear. '

This is also discretionary I have an Osprey hiking 65L pack with animal damage. Apparently my dried bananas were too irisistable so my front pocket got chewed through and were ruined.

They still accepted my warranty repair, free postage both ways and did an excellent repair job.

They've won me a customer for life with that sort of support.

        • Aye. Had a pack repair turned down for the weird seam that runs around the bottom of the pack wearing on the corners (guessing from walking since I don't put the pack on the ground much).

Still a fantastic company, but yeah local warranty is more restrictive.

  • Thanks, just ordered to replace my old 10L light pack. Been looking for one on sale for a while.

  • Do people use this for work?

    • I do, fits a 15 inch laptop (+ mouse and cord), bike lock, and a lightweight jacket and not too much else but that's all I need.

  • great bag, hideous color.

    • +1

      I like the colour.

What if the bag called you hideous, how would you feel?

        sorry, my apologies

  • Has anyone used this for cycling or running with a laptop inside? (commuting short trip <10km each way, would like the option to be able to do either… or would welcome any recommendations for this)

    • +1

i use another pack for cycling (don't carry a laptop) but this ticks most of the boxes for me — sternum strap, good back padding/ventilation, reflective bits, ability to cinch pack to avoid contents moving around. only downside is you'll probably have to use a pack cover.

    • +1

If you have a protective laptop sleeve, then yes.
My commuting backpacks are Coach, Tumi, Brooks Brothers, etc…

    • +1

This is good for running. Too small for cycling in my opinion as you can carry much more with a bigger bag

    • +1

I do, fits a 15 inch laptop (+ mouse and cord), bike lock, and a lightweight jacket and not too much else.

    • Pelican is the brand you want for that.

  • hmm, Deuter vs Osprey.

I own Deuter Race Air Backpack for 3 or 4 years.

    • ok

    • Deuter isn't really sold in Aus but I own a deuter bag , Osprey make some great traveling bags.

      • Duly Noted. Will try Osprey product one day.

  • Thanks OP, bought one. Never tried an Osprey before, looking forward to it.

  • This or decathlon $6 10L bags? I already have the decathlon and wondering if there’s any real benefit to going 13L.

    https://decathlon.com.au/products/country-walking-backpack-m…

    • it's not just about the capacity.
this has outer mesh pockets, sternum strap, hip strap, mesh padded back and reflective elements. not to mention, some people don't like vertical zips on the outer compartment.

  • Thanks OP.

    Ordered.

  • Thanks OP, was finding that my camelbak was lacking in the storage department. This will do nicely for hikes where I don't need my bladder.

    • I even fit my 2l bladder and it is still super conformable.

  • Was doing some research and now 404! Bugger!

Same here. Oh well, impulse buy didn’t happen!

Thank you for your order with Paddy Pallin, unfortunately due to an inventory error the Osprey Daylite 13L Pack you have ordered is out of stock.

    • Same here. Bummer, I was quite looking forward to trying this brand.

    • Same for me as well!!!

    • Same :(

    • Same :( Surely they would offer another colour due to the stuff up. Not amazing customer service.

    • Same. What a shame. Surprised they didn't offer and alternative or discount
