Dell is running discount for ALIENWARE 34 CURVED monitors. I haven't used any of them so can't comment on quality but heard good feedback from them overall.

OOS AW3418DW - REFURBISHED - $845.00 (was $1,459.00). https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/refurbished-alienware-34-c…

OOS AW3420DW - REFURBISHED - $951.00 (was $1,329.00). https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/refurbished-alienware-34-c…

OOS - AW3420DW - AS NEW - $966.00 (was $1,589.00). https://www.dell.com/en-au/outlet/refurbished-alienware-34-c…

You get 3 year warranty from Dell as brand new product. Here is the catch, you may not get full set of cables as brand new ones but for the saving, I think it's worth it.

First post after 3 years of watching. Please be gentle.

    Stack it with amex!!!!

What's the difference in the models? There's only 200 diff in the price between the 3

    • +3

AW3418DW was released in 2018 and AW3420DW was in 2020.
AW3420DW has 2 variant, refurbished (shipped and returned) and as new (ordered but cancelled) as my knowdelge.
      Haven't checked tech spec difference.

"The key difference between the new Alienware 34 curved monitor model AW3420DW and its predecessor (AW3418DW) is a brand-new IPS panel boasting Dell's "Nano Color" technology, which allows the monitor to cover 98% of the DCI-P3 and 134.5% of the sRGB color gamuts"

      • +1

Old panel is most likely the same panel in the X34P, will be slightly slower, have better contrast and won't have wide gamut support where the 2020 will

    • I need something for $34 to make the 1k spend…

        Get a backpack!

  • These are great prices considering Dell 3yr warranty. I've got the AW3418DW and very happy with it for all round gaming and general use.

Turning up the brightness and contrast to higher levels can strain the eyes though.

    • fellow 18dw user here, love it for gaming and creative tasks.

I still don't like the curved thing…I get motion sickness.

Have you tried a pair of blue light glasses? I used to get it while gaming on pc monitor, but the glasses have helped.

      you have astigmatism mate…

      • Everyone has astigmatism…

        • +2

you probably dont have astigmatism and thats why you're saying that…

for me, if i dont have the correct astigmatism prescription or the glasses are too curved, i would even get sick just by walking and looking down…

i have been wearing astigmatism glasses for a long time now and i dont have issues with curved screens…

  • I have AW3420DW, from one of legendary OZB sales (ordered heavily discounted and oversold 3418, Dell upgraded to 3420).

Fantastic monitor, with the right graphics card (supporting high refresh rate for WQHD resolution).

No issues whatsoever with being curved. I thought it might take a while to adapt, but it fells natural.

Having said that - I already have an eye on Alienware 38'' or similar upgrade. 34'' has heaps of width, but sometimes I'm missing a bit more of vertical space.

    • What was the legendary deal?

      • +1

        This one:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/513843

Dell was clearing Alienware AW3418DW on eBay store, with additional 20% discount.

They apparently miscounted the available stock, but to their credit buyers got upgraded to (at that time just released) AW3420DW for free.

        • Not as legendary as the 3418 sale in May 2019 where you could triple stack codes and get cashback on the screen which took it down to $800. Lol

          • @11112007: I disputed it and never got cash back for that one :/ was still like under 1k tho

            • @RI4V4N: Oh really, that sucks. A heap of us on Whirlpool including myself confirmed we got the cashback.

    • I had ASUS PG348Q and pulled the trigger on the 38" ones when they were sub 1500. No regrets. The vertical you mentioned becomes just right.

  • Damn tempting but don’t play as much pc these days so can easily wait for a better deal

  • Any chance we might get a 2021 model soon? Possibly with 144hz refresh rate? I wanna make the jump to an ultrawide but everything is either 1k+ or has terrible ghosting and overshoot.

      G7 32 inch……

    • There's an Acer model that fits what you're looking for l, for $1000, only negative seems to be that it's a flat panel

      • There's an Acer model that fits what you're looking for l, for $1000, only negative seems to be that it's a flat panel

What is the model number and price of the Acer model you're referring to?

        • acer xv340ck or the xv340ckp, they seem to be the same, Harvey Norman has them for $1000

AW3420DW is out of Stock as well now

  • interested to hear about everyone's experience with the refurb units.

I have a AW3821DW for $1309 on hold, just need to pay.

    • I bought 2 laps and 2 monitors from Dell outlet. They’re all good. You get same warranty as new products and Dell warranty seems to be decent.
      I don’t have specific experience with AW3821DW.
