Cheaper than the 8TB that was posted here recently, not sure what kind of drive it is inside though.

Suspect they mean per/TB which this is
6TB is SMR, 8TB is CMR
For those not in the know: CMR is superior to SMR.
Not a huge deal generally, but for shucking/NAS use, CMR is much better :)
6TB is SMR, 8TB is CMR
no idea what you were on about
so a quick google search revealed that CMR aka PMR is the successor to LMR :)
I don't get it, why would anyone need 6 terabytes of external storage?
Not sure if serious…
need and want are two different things
.
Officeworks and JB Hifi have 4Tb externals for $99.
https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/seagate-4t…
$24.75/Tb. This is $28.16.
I wish I had a server to fit a bunch of those 4TB drives. Have to buy bigger ones now when they go on sale so I don't run out of space.
But then you will consume more enegy and all these 4tb drives are SMR will die soon if you run 24x7
true that. better buy two 4s than this
Two 4TB drives requires 2 USB ports and 2 power points though.
not sure what kind of drive it is inside though.
A hard one.
Shouldn't a 6TB drive always be cheaper than an 8tb drive?
