[QLD, NSW, SA, VIC] Carl's Jr. Famous Star with Cheese Burger $1 on National Burger Day (Friday 28/5) @ My Carl's App

1212

To celebrate National Burger Day this Friday, Carl's Jr. are offering their Famous Star with Cheese burger for only a buck!!

This offer is available exclusively via the 'My Carl's' App and for T's & C's see the app.

You'll also find more specials on the 'My Carl's' app:

Apple: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/mycarls/id1494882749

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.AppInstitu…

More info at: https://carlsjr.com.au

FYI:

Carl's Jr is not a burger clone, timeline: 1940 McDonald's, 1941 Carl’s Jr. then way later, 1953 Burger King (our HJ’s).
Carl's Jr burgers are 'chargrilled', unlike HJ's 'flamegrilled'.
The burgers are BETTER at Carl's. Try the Angus burger range and taste for yourself.
I DO NOT WORK OR AM ASSOCIATED IN ANYWAY to Carl's Jr. other than being a fan.

  • Great promotion. Seeing that you post mostly Carl's Jr, is it a recommended restaurant to eat at? Whats your verdict? I have never tried since its far away. Mostly from distance there is only McDonald's, KFC and Hungry Jack's. Thanks, love your posts though.

    • +6

I finally tried their original burger yesterday and I have to say, for $16 (regular meal) it was just OK. They take more care in constructing their burgers over McDonalds/Hungry Jack's, but it's really not worth the premium.

      • +2

        Yep, I'd agree with that

still can't beat the small local take away home made burger for lot less than $16 bux.

    • Depend where you are at. There is one at Wetherill Park 2164.

    • +7

It’s very similar to Hungry Jacks but just a little bit better quality.

I also think it’s one of those places where there are tonnes of items on the menu but you’re best set to simply order the original thing they’re known for. The famous star with cheese is similar to a Whopper IIRC.

      • DingoBlue there's a blast from the past! Not your Carls Jnr post but your name - I assume you were a customer on that ISP back in dialup days?

        • damn son, now you're reminding me of when State Bank exsited and still gave away merchandise.

      • It’s very similar to Hungry Jacks but just a little bit better quality.

our local Hungrys puts that much mayo on the burgers that by the time you get home you can eat it with a straw… soggy pile of crap sadly…
not to mention they have shrunk to 1/2 the size they were before they rennovated couple of years ago… they are Big Mac size now.

This dude is Carl's Jr biggest fan!

Reading the reviews and previous threads I'm guessing 'the buggers are sh#t house at Carl's Jr'

BTW, I'm curious to hear more about Carl's Sr.

    • +3

I reckon Carl's Sr is dead just like Colonel Sanders, Ronald McDonald & Elvis, just sayin

      • Lucky you didn't mention Tupac or Biggie.

        • or JFK & John Lennon

    • Reading the reviews and previous threads I'm guessing 'the buggers are sh#t house at Carl's Jr'

Probably butthurt people who don’t like paying more for better quality. HJs is good because it’s cheap with vouchers. Carl’s is good because it’s good.

    • He obviously hasn't had a burger from Greasy Nicks Chip Shop.

  • +2

You can't order from app, just FYI.

    • +1

That and employees normally don't have a clue about promotions or how to cook burgers.

Varies by location, but they ain't getting a dollar off me ever again.

  • +2

    Australia wide location…

    https://carlsjr.com.au/find-us/

    • only 3 in nsw???

    • Location options are terrible.

    • Why do they put them in such random locations in Melbourne? Surely you would want one in the CBD or somewhere like Chapel St?

  • +6

cant wait to have some dry hungry jacks!

    • +1

      You forgot ridiculousy expensive too

      • +5

$1 seems pretty cheap to me.

  • +2

After eating at a few different Carl’s Burgers, their motto should be “I know how you kids like them - extra schlopppy!”

  • im worried about the general negative reviews on google for Carl's Jnr @ Wetherill Park Sydney which is disappointing.

Was expecting more positive reviews considering this was going to be like an in & out burger joint but for $1 I guess I won't be able to resist lol

    • Definitely go for it at $1, but I wouldn't make it my regular burger joint. I shop at that Joe's Fruit and Veg Market and see people lining up outside all the time. I'm starting to think they're paid or something.

      • If your regular burger joint is a fast food chain, I feel very sorry for you.

        • I mean I'd feel sorry for you if you eat burgers so often you can call a place your regular…

    • WP one was good when I tried it. Famous (or Star?) Burger wasn't dry and tasted much like how I remembered a whopper used to long ago when it first came out in Australia.

Would recommend trying, especially at this price point

  • fortunately CJ is the nearest fast food chain for me, will try and hope its worthy for a $

  • from the picture it almost looks like cheese burger from McD (expect slice of tomato)

    • +3

dont all burgers look the same?

      • -2

i meant getting this for a $ is not really a deal, while you can get the McD cheese burger for a $ via in app offer

        • When was the last time Maccas offered a deal on their tiny little cheeseburger?

      • No.. real burgers look very different.

      • You clearly haven't seen Falling Down

        https://www.google.com/search?q=falling+down+burger+scene

    • The cheeseburger at Maccas has those finely chopped onions, not whole rings (have read they're like rehydrated onions or some shit). Also doesn't have lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, or sesame on its bun.

      • Those rehydrated onions are the bomb

  • +6

get in early last year the line was 300 metres long, ALL INDIANS LOL

    • hmm, most of indian's don't eat beaf, so not sure if this offer includes chichen burgers too

    • +2

To be fair in melbourne at least all the locations bar one are in super far away places like williams landing and cranbourne where big indian familys love to congregate.

    • -3

Must have been some some obvious Indian festival, I assume.

Otherwise you checked everyone's ethnicity, which is weird as.

  • Does it include chicken burgers too?

  • +1

    Is it one per customer?

  • +2

I’ve had one burger and it was their Famous Star. It’s literally a Whopper in every way. Even having “with cheese” as a separate item on the menu. Might be the Docklands store in Melbourne, but it had all the characteristics of the worst Whoopers I’ve had in my time: pattie kept too long in warmer so it was soggy and lost its grill taste and bun was cool. Had my burger replaced with an identical one.

    • +1

This is funny because I ordered the Big Carl, which is literally a Big Mac in every way! I had a similar experience to you in terms of the taste - haven't been back since, even though it's just a 15-minute walk away…

      • I haven't tried the Big Carl, but it does look like the Big Mac just without the middle bun, LOL!

  • will this offer pop up after4 days? don't see this under offers

  • Really not worth the effort to claim but thanks for posting OP.

I would say $1 accurately represents what most burgers here are worth.

  • +2

LOL anyone comparing CJ's to Maccas has clearly never been. CJs always had better value for money. I've only ever been when visiting USA however so no idea on the local quality but assume the same.

    • I've only ever been when visiting USA however so no idea on the local quality but assume the same.

LOL in that case, you made a wrong assumption. I've had both in Australia and Maccas is better. Quite a low bar by the way, but that makes it even worse for CJ…

      • -1

Agreed. I think CJ probably makes the worst burger of all the big burger chains.

  • +2

Only one per person or multiple?

  • Why are carls junior burgers always cold? lool

  • Cheese burger for only a buck!!

I don't have any deer, will they take money?

  • I bet ya the Wetherill Park store this Friday will have a massive line. It's Western Sydney, you would be dealing with a lot of tight asses, junk food loving people, traffic jam…I wouldn't bother going.

  • I went to the one at the airport and was not whelmed. Some might say my feelings were significantly under that level.

  • +2

Whoever is interested better watch this video before making a mistake Eating a Burger

  • Needs more locations, hopefully a few out in western Sydney

  • I wonder if OP works there…

Also is there a limit to how many you can buy?

  • Tried them when they opened up around the corner from me. Essentially a slightly better version of Hungry Jacks is the best description - definitely not worth the price though.

  • Great in the US but here it's average. For a dollar it's certainly alright, as is a decent burger from any fast food joint for a dollar.

Unfortunately relying too much on hype and not enough on actual quality. For those commenting it's a "higher grade burger joint" it's really not both here or US, nor is it marketed like that. At least in the US though they have competitive pricing..

  • Delivery>

  • Anyone know of any other burgery deals for National Burger Day?

  • +1

I’m a fan of their non- burger stuff (waffle fries, thick shakes etc) but their burgers are way overpriced for the quality. I’ve enjoyed their smaller beef burgers, but had this expensive chicken “sandwich” (don’t even get my started on using that word to describe a burger) that was small, dry and average tasting, no better than a maccas chicken burger.

    • +1

but had this expensive chicken “sandwich” (don’t even get my started on using that word to describe a burger)

      DO IT!

      • +1

Sandwich = slices of bread (not bun, panini, Turkish bread, wrap or any other variation!)

The Earl of Sandwich would be turning in his grave to see the meal named after him being tarnished by Americans!

What makes a chicken burger different than a hamburger, other than the meat?

What would a chicken fillet between two slices of bread be called - a chicken slicewich?

On that subject, what would they call rolls, are they all subs, even if they’re round?

That will do for now haha!

  • It says the offer is only in the app but the app has no ordering capability. So it will be a code, barcode or QR code to show at the counter?

    • Or, you can just ask 'em.

    • I know right it’s annoying, I thought I had to sign in and then I signed in but there wasn’t an option to put a username so it’s like how do u log in..

Edit: they send you an email saying your email address is your username .. geez anyway

So hope you just show them on the app or some shit coz you can’t redeem or order on the app. I’ll delete this worthless app if I manage to get this $1 burger from wetherill park today (if lucky)

  • Can this be redeemed in Melbourne stores?

App is asking for passcode to redeem. Anyone know the passcode?

    • It shown at the top of the button.

    • +1

      No store within 5km rip

  • +2

I'll be walking into my local Carl's Jr today in my $20 Nike shoes, $3 second hand shirt for my $1 burger.

    Livin the dream!

    • While holding a $1500 iPhone!

      • Wow so cheap!! Where can such a glorious bargain be found!!?

    • The Slacks Creek store are accepting the offer, but they need to see Redeemed before doing so. The code is on the top right hand side. If the app fails try stopping it (not just swipe away) and reopening.

My burger was okay. Cold, but decent. It tasted like it had been steamed.

  • Can't complain for $1.

  • +1

    Stuck loading on login screen

    • Yeah - has anyone anywhere been able to use this offer?

      This is pretty poor.

  • Was going to give it a go but if you are in Sydney/NSW let me save you some time.
    - Bateau Bay - Central Coast
    - Glendale Shopping Centre - Newcastle
    - Wetherill Park - Western Sydney

  • Assume us in melbourne wont be able to get it unless within 5km :(

  • Can someone advise how to order?

    • i've got no clue too how does this app work; does it even have shopping cart?

  • +4

Tried many times in the past hour, app stuck on loading screen or just freezes.

  • Just saw one of these stores for the first time ever a few days ago as i drove past. Turns out it's a new store and doesn't open till June 5th. Oh the timing, oh the humanity, no $1 burger for this poor sod.

  • Good to see that there is actually a burger chain that is offering a real deal for national burger day, I haven't seen anyone else with a good deal. Too bad Carl's Jr is too far away from me :-(

  • Can anyone confirm if they are open in Docklands, Victoria? There's something going on here, some virus or something, people are acting weird and not all stores are open as usual. Very strange.

    • +1

Might wander or cycle down during my afternoon smoko. See if they're open and accepting walk-ins.

  • +1

Can't even log in, app is worse than mymaccas used to be.

Tried multiple times and could never pass the log in screen. Stuck on loading every time for over 10 minutes

  • It's a horrible app. I just waited for each page to load and eventually was able to register and login. There's nothing on the app anyway. Just the deal banner on front page and when I click on it, it brings me to the offers page with nothing on it or gives me an error. There's no way to order anything through the app at all. Anyone successfully ordered their $1 burger yet? Can I just show them the banner?

  • +1
    • Can anyone confirm that this worked?

      • Yes because it’s the link in the email they just sent to acknowledge the app has crashed

  • so i went to wetherill park but the lady at front were aware of the issues on the app, anyway the app is shit but moving forward..

surprised there wasn't a line but must've arrived just before the lunch time rush
the $1 burger was rubbish its literally like a bit bigger version of the whooper

so glad i tried it for $1, dissapointed was hoping this would be the closest thing to in and out burger

  • Anyone successful in getting more than one?

    • Um, no? One for $1 to give it a try seems fair to me.

      • Your user name is Loopholio and you didn't even try to figure out a loophole to get more $1 burgers?
