    No, you pay $450 and receive 125K points + $450 travel credit.

    The person who referred you gets the referral points and no travel credit.

  OP should probably correct the referral bonus. By going through the referral link, the person referring gets 40k and the person clicking gets the full reward just like clicking through the banner. In which case, can you just replace the main link to the referral link or sign ups are just being wasted?

    It's available for you to use straight away. You book your flights in the Amex portal after you log in. It's down the bottom under "Book Travel"

  When clicking on the referral it says you only get 65k points. I asked the AMEX chat if you still get the 120k, they have stated you only get the 65k. Has anyone had it go any different?

  Edit: And also, if I cancel the card after booking a flight, but before the actual flight, does that cancel the flight or will it still be honoured?

    You book via the Amex travel page, cost might be $1500 for x number of flights. So you use the $450 credit and then pay the remaining $1050. Once booked the tickets remain active cancelling will not impact.

    Unless….

    We had booked flights in October 2020 for flights to Sydney last January 21, $680 for flights. Used the credit plus a payment. Cancelled card in Nov, COVID outbreak meant we could not travel, contacted Amex who cancelled the flights and gave a full refund. Only issue was the money went back to the cancelled account, just had to chase them up a couple of weeks after the cancellation request and provide bsb &acct details to transfer the money..
