Just noticed this on Price Hipster. The stand for Echo 5 is down to $5 at JB Hi-Fi, though appears to be white available only (maybe black is available in-store)
Nearly half the current more reasonable price of $9.95 at Amazon.

Amazon sets silly prices on stands for their devices. I have been looking for a reasonable price for a stand to suit my Amazon Show 8. The stand retails for A$39.99. In reality it is about $2.00 worth of extruded plastic with a swivel joint.
As a consequence, I am sure, they become dead stock because of low turnover. I have picked up quite a few stands for the Echo Spot for about $2 each when they were retailing for about $29.99.
Pop into your local JB store. Ask them to do a nationwide search of inventory of their stores. They might be able to obtain what you are after if one or more of their stores are clearing old stock. I just purchased the last (new) Amazon Echo Spot (black) for $5.00 a few weeks back that one of their stores was clearing out… they are listed between $50 to $150 on eBay as they are rare to come by.
Done that months ago and they had no stock even though they have many empty boxes on display.
Only white :(
