    I thought they are steelseries

I think I must be lysdexic as I read SteelSeries too

Omg me three. Lucky you posted this, made me look again.

  • I only ever hear of the Leap when it comes to Steelcase.
Does anyone have experience with both or know the key differences?

    • I have Leap V2 and I often sit on friend's steel series 2. SteelSeries 2 is more or less 80% of Leap to me.
It is comfortable and look wise it is more modern looking but Leap overall feels just a bit better.

Only advantage of steel series I can think of is the mesh makes it a much cooler chair to sit on.

Comfortable but if you're a tall guy, I think Leap is a better option. Or an Aeron.

      • Both Leap and Aeron are way pricier.. are they worth the extra $$ in your opinion?

        • This is personal thing but if you spend many hours daily on the chair, I'd say get the most comfortable you can afford even if it means playing close to a grand.

But for me it is worth the extra, what is a few hundreds for a daily use over many many years.

          • @djmm: Thanks. My mate swears by his Sayl Chairs.

In saying this, I have a call with an ergonomist (whatever they are called) on Friday so interested to get their take, as they're based in Australia and should have a decent idea of the chair landscape here, with some places I can actually try.

            • @HappyPooPants: I recommend you go and try every potential chair first and I mean like try try not just sit and get up as chair is really personal thing. Good luck!

              • @djmm: Thanks, will do. Neighbours are usually out during the day so pretty sure I can try often.

                • @HappyPooPants: Definitely try as many as you can. Don't discount the other brands, specifically the European ones. RH make excellent chairs and are a sub-brand of HAG. You can get them at a few places at or around $1600 for some models and they are far better than an Aeron at nearly (or over) $2k.

                  • @Monsta-AU: I'm in the exact same situation ATM, going to try an aeron today… Sat in a few that were meant to be good but at 6'2" they were all kinda uncomfortable.

                    • @TheFlyingCoder: Im 6'4 and got a leap V2, one of the best decisions I did as I was previously getting back pain from long hours in a shitty chair. Definitely worth it for me as I can spend many hours without any issue.

Emailed them a few weeks ago about a sales enquiry but never heard back

Not sure what support would be like then 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • +2

I've used support for a warranty claim and took me 2 months to get a reponse and another 2 to get my issues resolved. One of the worst support i've ever dealt with.

I'd love to buy one of these but I really wish you could tax deduct them all in a single year or my employer would allow us to salary sacrifice it. It's annoying enough that we have to purchase the majority of our own WFH equipment but to then have to do it over three years for equipment over $300 is a killer.

    • plus you can't use short cut method as this is furniture

    • Saw in another comment.. just write it off when it suddenly breaks next year.

      • How does that work? If it breaks they pay remaining? Doesn't really help if you need to replace, but first will be paid off?

  • Can anyone recommend or does anyone know of any high-back ergonomic chairs. i.e. one where the backrest goes higher and is a headrest? I have an 'executive' style chair right now and prefer its look and feel to gaming chairs, but my current chair isn't quite as high-backed as I'd like.

Yes I can Google but OzB recommendations are what I'm after.

    • The only ozb recommendation will be the Ergohuman one.

  • "Should your purchase require installation, our installation agent will assemble your product. Only our installation agent are allowed to assemble your Steelcase product. Should assembly be done by you or unauthorize installer, this would void the warranty.

..$187 delivery in greater Melbourne, aborted at checkout..

    • Same delivery price for me in Metro Melbourne. Yikes.

      • Turns out it was 99 delivery for Melbourne, or you could pickup from warehouse in Laverton

$100 for arms ? thats some expensive molded plastic.

    • Ah I see you are new to the ergonomic desk chair world, that's about the norm for them. I guess it's usually on a $1600 chair so it doesn't look like that much of a difference.

  • Is there one with headrest or a recommendation of a headrest add-on?

  • Herman Miller.. please go on sale too

    • +1

Have they ever? Should I wait? Haha

  • Don't even ship to regional Victoria, and I'm not even really remote. Often get next day delivery from Melbourne and Sydney.

  • Doesn’t ship to Newcastle either, hardly a backwater.
