2 Essential Services for Free with a 4-Year Volkswagen 4Plus Care Plan for 4-15 Year Old Volkswagen Vehicles Only @ Volkswagen

1080

As part of 2021 Click Frenzy, Volkswagen are offered their 4Plus Care Plan at a heavy discount for the first 400 purchasers.

I just purchased a pack as it is way cheaper than any independent mechanic and covers me for 4 years of services.
Includes brake fluids and pollen filter changes which are always additional under their capped price model.

To give you an idea, I have a 2017 VW Polo and the pack covers 2 essential services and 2 major services for $790
Whilst the essential services are basically oil and filter changes, The major ones are a massive saving.

$790 over 4 years or $197.50 a year or every 15000KM is a bargain in my eyes.

Pros:
Increases re-sale value if you can convince the new buyer of the added value
Improves the possibility of VW head office approving goodwill repairs out of warranty
No independent will be cheaper over the 4 year period
Transferable to new owner if car sold
Way cheaper than their yearly capped priced servicing which goes up every year

Cons:
If you write off your car or sell it, It is non-refundable
You could possibly save more money if you know how to service via the log-book yourself

This is part of Click Frenzy deals for 2021

        • I think it's really badly written. The markdown from $1155 to $867 might be the "Get 2 Essential Services free", and the 2 Essential Services Plus are still included - but it doesn't really say that.

I'm waiting on a call back to confirm.

          • @bienvenu: Please inform after your call, the website indicates it should already include 2 Essential Services AND 2 Essential Service Plus, so if it is a special offer this should mean we get an extra 2 by its wording.

            • @yfxsmike: They called back, the robot man asked me to wait and said that calls may be recorded, and then left me on a silent line for 4 minutes and counting. Great phone system!

Edit: I hung up after 10 minutes of silence.

          • @bienvenu: It does when you check out (in the form of 2 free extra essential services)

  • -1

I got this after putting in my rego:
    4Plus care plan: 4-years $779 $1,038

Click Frenzy Offer: Get 2 Essential Services free

Expires 4 ½ years after purchase date/ active Care Plan expiry.

That means I only get 2 services not 2 essential services AND 2 essential plus service?

    • +1

If it is a 4 years plan, it is 2 essential services + 2 essential services plus.
(I have spoken with VW dealer and confirmed that)

      • thank you for the info, so "Click Frenzy Offer: Get 2 Essential Services free" has no meaning at all i guess?

    • The all important word is “And”
You get 2 of each (or put another way, one service a year for 4 years).
It also confirms this at check out, by mentioning you get 2 free essential servicings.

  • +3

Bought it for my Tiguan. Great bargain. Thank you!

  • +2

    VWs are never a bargain

    • +2

Yeah. I'm surprised in a place like Ozbargain there are so many people who think they will get value out of VW service sale.

VW service is so shamelessly expensive nowadays while your car is being serviced you get calls from them trying to upsell you bullshit extras. They quoted me $90 for a headlight change, they never rotate the tyres unless you bitch about it, even the 'complimentary cleaning' is half arsed after you dropped $1000 for a regular service.

  • So my capped price is $395 and $472, so for $867 I'm getting $1,734 of value right?

I doubt I'd find a independent who can do an oil change, pollen filter and brake fluid for ~$200.

    • I don’t think so. These are not full logbook services (though it says they will stamp the logbook).

      • +1

I have spoken with the VW dealer, although they didn't word it that way, but it is essentially full logbook services (but only partially cover major service)

    • +1

I have spoken to the VW dealer directly. I am guessing your $395 service is for very basic service, and your $472 is for pollen filter, brake fluid etc.
      - your $395 service will be covered by the essential service
      - your $472 service will be covered by the essential service plus

For my 5 years old golf, my 4 years 4Plus Care Plan will cover 3 out of the 4 services in the next 4 years and I will need to pay a little out of pocket for 1 of the service due to it is major service (spark plug etc) which is not covered by this plan.
By going with the 4 years plan, I save around $400+ (~35%), for the 2 years plan, I only save $50 (~10%)

  • +3

The next service (60k) for my Passat was 1350approx and looking at this deal made me think I won a jackpot paying around 899. Spoke to the dealer, was advised that the major service cost would come down to 600 approx. The following 3 services would mostly cover all the cost except air filter. Overall a decent deal given the cost of VW servicing.

  • ah snap, my vw is just 3.5 years old and not eligible for this :(

    • Same =(

Why wouldn't this be available for newer cars??

  • +3

It's actually pretty good value if you currently service the car at a dealer or even independent.

My GTI came out to be $850. Four oil changes + 2 pollen filter + 2 brake fluid.

I'm not sure what part of the log book they stamp, because if you're at 105k or 120k scheduled servicing, my car requires a timing belt change and DSG fluid. What if you elect not to do the timing belt or DSG, they can't stamp the 105k or 120k service.

Anyway, I service the car myself, $10 for a Mann oil filter, $30 for some VW 502/505, $22 for Mann pollen filter, $28 for Mann Air Filter. My car is worth F all, plus as it gets older, log books become irrelevant (or forged).

Still take it to an independent for DSG/Timing Belt

    • I thought if you elected not to do something that was part of a 105 or 120k service for example, they'd just tick No for that item and stamp it (to indicate that the items ticked Yes were serviced)? My assumption though.

    • +2

They just try to sell you this package so you will go back to dealer to service your car and they can charge you more for the other parts you need to replace let say in the major service since they are not covered the package. Then you eventually pays more than going to an independent mechanic.

      • +1

exactly that is what I am concerned about specially the capped servicing guarantee is going to end for the older vehicles.

      • This x 1000. They’ll find something not covered even in the included services and will then ream you for the major service.

The sale price was only discounted by $300 for me. Not worth the risk IMO. Stealerships are also very dismissive if you do any aftermarket modifications. Would rather go back to my local independent family owned mechanic any day.

    • +1

Yeah these are basically lube jobs only, odd they are willing to stamp the book.

      • There are other additional places to stamp in the book for non-scheduled services.. usually at the back of the book.

  • +1

Good deal. Pulled the trigger. Also great as it's transferrable if I sell the car.

  • +2

I called Solitaire Automotive Mile End and confirmed that this deal does include 4 services for the price - 2x Essentials and 2x Essentials Plus - despite the poor wording on the website alluding to only 2 included services. I own a 2015 Jetta and confirmed vehicle eligibility for the deal which is a good saving - total cost will be $759 for 4x services, down from the usual price of $1012.

    • +3

Thanks OP. This seems to be a huge bargain. Bought one for my Tiguan ($811) and rang the dealer about my upcoming 4-year major service. The lady said the care plan will cover $600 of it (the major service costs $1179)! Wow! The Care Plan almost paid for itself in the first go!

      • +1

        That's amazing news mate. :)

Worked out for me as my capped price servicing ends this year and I'm on 90000KM so major services coming up.
As much as I hate paying in advance, it's good peace of mind knowing I've reduced my service cost as much as possible.

  • Called Volkswagen Penrith (Nepean Motor Group)
Confirmed next 4 logbook services covered. 90000KM, 105000KM, 120000KM, 135000KM or whatever comes first if I don't do the distances as in once a year.

As I have a simple Polo, The service book doesn't make any mention of DSG oil changes (Sealed for life so not serviced) or timing belt changes.
I would assume these jobs will be extra on top as the log book doesn't indicate the work.

  • Before this deal, what are included in the 4 years 4Plus care plan originally?

  • Anyone received certificate yet?

    • Not yet mate and I purchased at 5AM - haha!

    • Nope

    • What do you mean by certificate? I got a email with the receipt within a few minutes after the purchase.

      • I got the below on screen after payment:

        Thank you for your purchase

        Order REF. xxx

xxx, we’re sure your Volkswagen will thank you later! Your purchase of a 4Plus Care Plan : 4-year is now complete and you should receive a confirmation email shortly with your invoice and Care Plan certificate.

Have a question? Feel free to contact us at 1800 607 822

    • got my certificate at 6pm, purchased 3pm

      • Me too at around the same time though I bought mine in the morning. They must had done a batch of certificates :-)

  • +1

Seems like a good deal. Got the 4 year plan for my MY15 Golf R for $867

  • This would be awesome if Audi offered the same package type.

    • They probably think Audi customer's can afford to be ripped off for servicing. :(

  • Hi,
If I have VW which is older than 4 years <15years but I do not currently own a care plan. Can I still buy this one?

    • Yes, it’s either or

  • Sold out? It no longer says 'Click frenzy offer' on the 4Plus Care Plan and price is up $250

    • I believe it might have sold out as they only had 400 on offer.

I can't check with my Rego but it should say click frenzy and it should have the before and discounted price.

  • +2

    Thanks OP.
    Purchase that for my 2017 Passat 2.0T for $824 (25% off $1,098).
I guess the 4Plus care plan always consists of 2 essential and 2 essential plus services. The website wording is confusing.

    • +1

Glad it was of help. The wording isn't the best but as long as we're all saving money that's all that matters. :)

  • Why is mine $1038 for a 66kw 2015 Polo TSI?

    • I believe the sale is now over if that is the price you are getting.
I am also now getting $1,053 instead of the $790 I paid this morning.

      Sorry :(

      • Still a saving though, right?

        • -2

Save more going to a trusted local independent euro mechanic instead of the stealership. Your car and wallet will thank you.

          • +1

@plasmapuff: Not sure why this is being downvoted.
People have rocks in their head if they think VW servicing is good value for out of warranty vehicles.

            And I own 2 VW's.

      • Oh, yeah. I just got mine $1047, for a 2013 Passat 2.0

    • -1

Same here. Price for my golf jumped from around $760 to $1100

Looks like I missed the deal but I’m still confused of what’s covered. Oh wells

  • I got my certificate wondering how i actually book with it?

    • I think you just ring up, mention you’re on the care plan and book.

  • What is brake fluid replacement? Opening the cap and topping up with fluid or flushing out the old brake fluid and replacing with new fluid?

    • Flushing out the old and replacing with new.

  • +1

So booked a service, it would of had to be $500 but now it's $57 since i have to pay for an air filter which isn't included. They also give me a $30 uber. Great deal!

    • What sort of service are they performing for $500? Oil and oil filter replacement only?

  • A bit confused. While it says Allocation exhausted, I did get a quote for my car, with rego punched in. It reads as $1,047 for 4Plus care Plan - 4 years. Anybody has an idea please ?

    • Would had been another 25% off that price prior exhaustion.

      • That's correct, would have been $786 had you got it during the sale.

        • This $786 would be quite attractive.

  • Does anyone know if they charge for oil separately at service or it's included?

    • Oil has always been included in the service price at dealer servicing.

      • Thanks
