$648 before discounts, current cheapest price alongside Hardly Normal. Not the best price of all time (has been $499 with $100 cashback from ASUS in the past), but with eBay Plus and if you don't already have an Afterpay account and use the $30 referral signup voucher it can be had for $568 which is still the best price in a while. One of the fastest performers for both WiFi 6 and WiFi 5 in Dong's tests: https://dongknows.com/best-wi-fi-6-routers/#wi-fi-6-routers-…

There are Wi-Fi 6 routers over $1k :-)
Would there be a huge difference in WiFi6 performance between this one and the RT-AX88U?

Answered my own question after looking through Dong's tests.
Marginal at best.
Barley any difference. Asus GT-AX11000 Wi-Fi 6 Router Review
@Twix: Wheat are you trying to tell us?
@jackspratt: RT-AX88U speeds are just as good for $215 cheaper. Pony up the $600 and purchase the GT-AX11000 if you want tri-band Wi-Fi.
@Twix: Woosh……
@jackspratt: Now I get it. That's a good one 🤣
Seems steep, but many high end routers these days have been creeping up over $800 RRP
Is this any better than my xiaomi ax6000? thinking about selling it in the sealed box and upgrading
Keep your AX6000. If you are having range problems, consider getting an AX1800 or AX3600 to form a mesh setup. Or the AX9000 if you have a loose budget.
Can someone explain the benefits of a $600 router please?
lots of routing
I Lol'd.
Routing and rooting are pronounced differently??? Did you mean lots of rooting?
Some people pronounce routing differently to you.
@pumpkinspice: In the UK and Ireland it is generally pronounced as "Rooter". Australia and US pronounced as "Router". I don't know about the Kiwis.
@Snoots: "Rooter broo"
Don't you see the number of antennae?
Good idea, let's go halves in one
If you have a very large house and need range. If you have many devices (lots of phones, tablets, laptops, cameras and IoT stuff) the extra bandwidth and three WiFi bands can be a benefit. If you have gigabit NBN and need a router with a good processor and fast WiFi that can handle those speeds.
So wont do justice for 90% of the individual consumers in practice. How many of that 90% would have got it for the sake of getting it.
I mean, I'm one person and I have 26 devices on my network (including 16 wireless). I can only imagine the amount of devices an average 4+ person household might have these days. But yeah, for most small households they don't need something like this unless it's for bragging rights or showing off their alien spaceship looking router to friends, lol.
@ImpulsePie: Prob half the number devices at home, nor have gigbit connection since returning to AU.
But yea a pair of AC68U and a lan cable is sufficient for day to day.
For similar $$ and a very large house, a Unifi UDM + a couple of U6 lites might be a better option?
If you care more about coverage but not speed, perhaps. The UniFi 6 Lite's are only a 2x2 antenna setup, not super fast at all. Debatable per your house setup and what client devices you have if it's better to have more, slower mesh style devices or a better single router in the centre of the home.
If you have a large house, single point router cannot beat the mesh system with a proper backchannel
Not a valid reason for a neg.
Waiting for this to drop below 500 to have any considerations.
I have the previous gen of this router.
Anyone know what's happening with ASUS GT-AXE11000 Wireless Router ?
WiFi 6E hasn't been approved by the ACMA yet, so it can't be sold here until it does. Dong also doesn't recommend it yet for various reasons: https://dongknows.com/asus-rog-rapture-gt-axe11000-wi-fi-6e-…
The new ASUS GT-AXE11000 will be released soon. New WiFi 6E
Wi-Fi 6E is under review by the ACMA and the process takes some time.
The Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 will cost over $700 and no devices support 6Ghz yet.
S21 ultra does 6e
It does too. Samsung have left it off the AU specsheet for now.
Holy jeez, a Decepticon crustacean!
Seriously, how hard is it not to make an ordinary looking router?
The Asus GT-AX11000 falls under Asus Republic of Gamers branding. How many antennas and RGB do you want? All the antennas and RGB.
The clean looking routers are called Asus ZenWiFi.
Looks like a dead tarantula to me!
Just turn it upside down…Voila! It’s alive!!!
I have been out of the PC market for a while but wow $600 for a router…
