Viofo A129 Duo Dashcam Hardwire Connection

I bought 2x of Viofo A129 Duo Dashcam couple of years ago with the hardwire kit and eventually got one installed in my Hyundai Getz yesterday. I told the installer that I want it always on so I can use parking mode but he recommended not to do it as it will drain the battery so I decided to leave it up to him. He asked me to come back anytime if anything isn't working and he will fix it. I am wondering which fuse should have been used to have the parking mode working and what camera settings I need to change? Here is the diagram of the fuse box.

Also, I am going to take the other car (Kia Cerato) later this week to get it installed so can anyone tell me which fuse is recommended to be used in this car.

  • Getz = C light

    Cerato = power outlet

    • Are they always on? I don't think they are. Won't I need one which is on even when car is not turned on?

      • Test them

      • C/Light = Cigarette Lighter. I don't think it is always on. For always on, you could try:-

H/LP LH = High Beam Light Indicator, Headlight (LH)
        H/LP RH = Headlight (RH)
        Hazard

        • So if I want it always on, I should use Hazard. Is that right? Any issues with battery draining?

@ABA: Yes, use hazard for always on. It will drain the battery. You could get HK3 hardwire kit which has low voltage protection.

  • I have the same, but I thought it has a cut off when the battery gets too low which you can pre determine?

    • That's what I thought. What do you mean by pre determine?

Means you can adjust the cutoff voltage (the voltage below which it will turn off to preserve battery). I have one with parking mode and it works great.

        • Does it have 2 or 3 wires?

  • As per this article should the hardwire kit should have 3 wires but mine has only 2. Does it mean it doesn't have the parking mode?

Looks like you have the standard wiring kit, you can always buy an accessory voltage cut off device and fit it to your loom; shouldn't cost more than 20 bucks ex-eBay.

    • If you only have a 2 wire unit, or a different hardwire kit - such as a Power Magic Pro (I have this) - then the camera will drop to parking mode after no movement on the G-Sensor for a short time.

  • best is to test which fuse provide constant power, connect to that but put a switch in so you can select when you want to leave it on or off, e.g. when you at shopping centre leave it on, parked in garage off.

I have bought the HK3 hardwire kit which enables the parking mode so should be all good now.

  • use power magic pro

    • Yes. I like being able to turn off the camera when I don't want parking mode. A nice feature, but easily added to the HK3.

  • I'm looking to buy 2x viofo duos soon. Do i need to buy the hardwire kit? And will that allow me to have parking mode? If so, can someone link me it?

    • For parking mode, you will need hardwire kit. I do have a spare one, PM me.

  • Late to the party on this thread, I did my hardwire installation with viofo’s 3 wire hardwire kit. I had 2 wire before which killed my battery few times. But 3 wire all good with no issues. it has a switch to permanently kill the power that you can set to higher voltage level to be on safe side. Ive set mine to the highest as my battery is older.

The advantage of 3 wire kit is camera goes to parking mode immediately when you switch off vehicle. (it senses accessory and always on power and informs cam)

    Cheers!

  • Where can I buy the hard wired kit for this dashcam? Can anyone share the link for it. I have got a Mazda CX8 in which i wish to hard wire it. Also, should I get this installed by the service centre or from an outside mechanic? Will installing from an outside mechanic have any impact on cars warranty?
