  • Where's the trick?

    • Hi Bubbleshark - there is no trick Econnex is an energy comparison platform we often have exclusive and ongoing promotions for our customers. This one happens to be for Origin Energy with a Gift Card.

Prove this is a deal and not a scam to make me pay a higher rate. Origin is not necessarily cheaper.

    • Hi Justtoreply, you can put in your bill details and have a like for like comparison to chick if you will be saving. We also show all plan and tariff types so you can see if it is the best plan for you.

      • No. I don't want to give you my details.

        • How the hell are they meant to prove it's cheaper if you won't tell them what you currently pay?

Anyway, just go Google Origin's rate in your area.

@freefall101: My postcode is sufficient for that. They can do it without requiring my email or phone number.

Yes you've almost got the right idea.. They should be putting in a link to origins rates.

  • Can u also get everyday rewards bonus?

    • Hi Froddo, unfortunately as per the T&C's this offer cannot be used in conjunction with any others.

  • What if you are already with origin?
Do you still pay connection fee?

    • Hi hanchar, so long as the plan are you are on is different ou will be able to upgrade to the plan listed.

      • Do you still have to pay the connection fee?

I have taken up agl (similar offer) that did in april and also did this similar origin offer as well last year. Just wondering why when you issue the Woolworths gift card for only 3 months expiry? I also asked Woolworths themselves and were surprised you did this.

Origin is in the top 3 WORST energy providers from an environmental perspective. If you can afford the extra money (works out to be $100+ a year), save the planet and go with a company like Powershop.

Don't get sucked in with bait like this.

Do your own sums based on your bill and find out where the best deal is.

compare 1. the daily supply charge

and 2. the cost per unit of energy - This may be stepped pricing.
In Victoria the more electricity you use the price per KWatt goes up.

    For gas it goes down.

It is useful to compare every few months, and if you find a better deal take it.

Also you don't have to have gas and electricity with the same company, work out the best deal for each.

And remember "Loyalty "is only a word corporations use to con you.

    • Hi morestuff, comparing your energy every couple of months (or every 12 months at a minimum) is strongly recommended. Usually, by this point, there are changes to regulation, reference prices and discounts so it's always a good idea to keep an eye on what else is out there!

  • If you want to stay with Origin and get a decent rate, simply sign up to another provider and their retentions team will call you with a better offer.

Personally, I'd strongly recommend against taking it. You shouldn't need to leave to be rewarded for loyalty.

  • It says I have to be with you for 120 days, my monthly bill is $150 so 4 months comes to $600 on my cheap plan just wondering if I move to origin how much higher it will be to see if it will be worth the $200 and then switching back

  • I've been really happy with Origin. Was with AGL for years and they charge as if everyone is millionaires. Awful customer service and I proved they were wrong multiple times with readings and bill amounts. I'm paying on average 50% less per bill with Origin. Friend who changed to Origin about a year ago went through the same thing with another supplier. Even my folks were telling me to change to Origin. We can't believe the difference. AGL just stopped flybuys too. Everyone's rates might look similar but end result of bill will look very different! Maybe Origin is just what it should be and AGL are crooks

  • I was with Origin for many years and had very reasonable, I consider cheap, bills. I did switch to another company with an excellent sign up offer, but will switch again soon, but I am nearly at the twelve month mark with the new company and am supposed to be getting a $50 voucher at 12 months so cant do anything until then

    • Wouldn't the $200 in vouchers with this offer trump the $50 voucher with your current provider?

      • no as it is only 100 for electricity and I may have one or more referral bonuses to come as well, just had one

Just go to the free Government website: https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/
FYI in my area, Origin is $240 a year dearer than the first 6 plans from other providers according to the list.

Just checked, rates are WAY WAY higher than other suppliers, so not worth it

  • What if I'm already with Origin?

    • +1

      Find something cheaper.

    • Threaten to leave, and then leave.. or if you're intent on supporting them, take up one of their retention offers and the contact them every 12 months otherwise it will be expensive.

Hi JIMB0, if you are with origin but on a different plan to the one being offered you can still upgrade and receive the offer.

  • Too be eligible to this offer, are we going to stay connected for 30 days or 120 days before switching?

    • Hi Rainbowyen, you must remain on the plan for 30 days. After this period your eligibility will be validated and Giftcards will be sent 120days post switch. However, if you changed your provider again at say 45 days (or any time after 30 days) you will still get the gift card.
