I'm heading to New Zealand in a few days (assuming I can retain the blessings of the pandemic gods) and need some travel protection. A search of Canstar Blue returned World2Cover as one of only four companies with a five star rating. Luckily, I also found a 25% off coupon code.
I got the mid-tier essentials cover for $87, down from $115, for five weeks. It covers rental vehicle excess of up to $4000, which is the main thing I was interested in - no way in hell I'm paying $30 a day for the campervan company's 'Stress free' insurance.
Any travel issues related to COVID aren't covered (this is standard now, I believe) so I wouldn't buy the insurance until a few days before you leave, same with any accommodation or rental bookings that don't have flexible cancellation policies.
Does that mean if the borders are shut e.g. due to an outbreak, you would not be covered for cancellations?
