    1 user or 3?

  • Adelaide? C'mon mate, this is the big leagues… we expect better, much better!

Norton is a terrible, terrible piece of software, and does more harm than good.

    • +7

i heard the recent versions of norton is a lot better than the old ones, with less bloatware, memory usage and size that gave the old ones such a bap rep.
that said, I use free AV :P

    • +1

      Have you ever used it??
new version are low on resources and universally get good reviews

rate the bargain not the product

      • +4

I 2nd this, used to hate norton but using the latest norton 360 and very happy with it. reviews ive seen rate it well too

rate the bargain not the product

Fine, it's not a good price either, since a cheaper deal (which is still available) was posted earlier this week: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/62086
$24 for a single user license, or 3 users for $44.

I still wouldn't touch either deal with a ten foot pole. I know too many people (myself included) who have lost data, and in some cases hardware, thanks to Norton.

There are better options that are available for free.

        • +1

I'm really disappointed and sad because some ozbargainers are Norton's blind fanbois.
          What a pity thing lol

        • Norton causing hardware failure? Now I have heard it all!
Typical Norton bashing from people who know nothing about it.

"12 months of updates" what is this an optional thrown in as a free gift?

  • +6

Just get Microsoft Security Essentials for free and you're good.

    • +1

this. Once I used it, I set fire to my Norton disks. Hate that software.

  • -2

why not keep discussion to value of this deal it is quite a good price though not great if only 1 licence

    • +1

The value of the deal should also include the value of the product, when there is a good as or better alternatives for free then why can't they be discussed?

      • -2

seeing you have never used the product you are not well educated in advising its merits or faults!
        name another single program that:
        1. antivirus
        2. antispam
        3. Password protection encryption and synchronisation across multiple platforms and pcs
        4. antimalware
        5. pop3/imap email protection inbound and outbound
        6. parental control
        7. updated hourly if not sooner
        8. parental controls

and i mean one single program!

        • +1

          pasted a script form where?
          I have used
          MSSE
          CA Antivirus
          VET antivirus
          Mccafee
          Avast
          Kaspersky
          Bit defender
          Panda
          Norton

up until 2009 Norton was shite
all that changed in 2009 and it became a lite resource friendly virus detecting machine

guess what i've read those before
try changing norton.html at end of your link to microsoft or apple or sony or samsung or panasonic
try iphone you get about 1000X more complaints than norton yet if there were a $5 discount I bet you would be giving it a posisitive based on your reviewing skills an iphone would be oo expensive if it were free
people complain when they have a problem and dont praise when something is good.
Still yet to rpovide one indpendan proffesional review that is poor

Tantrum, it is for 1 user this version. 3 user version sells for $99.99 on the official Norton site..

    • +6

Or you could get the 3 user version of it for $44 delivered here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/62086

And you actually get the retail box, not just a key.

But you can also get the 1 user one for $24 delivered.

So this is not a bargain.

      • Any idea of what the difference is between Norton 360 and NIS? If it's the same, i'm getting ripped off.. they just got another $99/year from me… stupid autosubscription..

        • slightly different
it has backup and restore and pc tuneup
not really needed I got 3 licences for $28 total after cashback on nis 2012 from officeworks

  • No deal hunt, we just like to give a full description of the product or service available.

    • Thanks for replay, but as a feedback I wouldn't want one even if FREE.

  • +2

Deal cheaper elsewhere and who pays for AV, Security Essentials is great
