PM1517

Original Coupon Deal

Here it comes again, the long awaited 15% discount (eBay plus member gets 17%) on OzBargainers' favourite mattress which has eluded us for quite sometime.

It appears to be part of the eBay PM1517 code promotion albeit ebay decided NOT to list all of the eligible stores like Zzz Atelier on the T&Cs page (https://pages.ebay.com.au/Buyer_coupons/pm1517/).

I've done some test of the codes I collected. PM1517 takes 17% off Queue Size $319.00 to $264.77 straight away.
I do have other codes ones PLUSMS4, PLUSTL1 works individually unfortunately doesn't combine with PM1517.

This also covers their extra firm lines for those like me preferring something really firm. The one in our master bedroom still serves well. Let me/us know if you manage to stretch the price down further otherwise enjoy!

Is there anyone who has this and would provide feedback please?

    • +4

I got a queen of this, and a firm King (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/142043158305, as I mentioned in the original post) from previous deal and they are still great. For the prices plus free courier shipping I won’t be able to complain.

    • +11

I got 2 years before a large sag caused back pain. Emailed for warranty and got no response, so I threw it away.

For ~$250 2-3 years use is acceptable IMHO.

      • +3

Same, but I got the previous model of this. Lower back was killing me. Ordered a new mattress from Appliances Online.

      • +2

I'm at this point now. My back is constantly hurting after 2.5 years of use.

      • +2

Also at this point after a couple of years. Definitely starting to really feel it in my back.

        • -3

U could just have back problems?!

      • +1

Same. These zzz's are good for max 2 years.

      • Has anyone here ever had success claiming warranty or getting a refund? Bought less than a year ago and it's already sagging. Kinda disappointed as so many people recommended it on ozb

    • I have the queen sized one bought for 237$ happy with the mattress but only problem seller sent me mattress being like 6cm shorter in length, so the bed frame from bunnings has a small 5 cm hole at the one end.

    • I bought my 2 year old son the single.

Has no side support on the mattress, you can feel the springs on the side.

Apart from that, it's actually not a bad mattress! I've layed on it and it's comfy. Unfortunately I can't comment on how long they last as my son is 2 and is 13KG.

Personally I would go Art and Science Platinum for an adult

      • What is the best discount when they are on sale? RRP is $1499 for a King.

    • Have a queen and highly recommended at this price.

    • I have the old model and three years on and its still great. Don't forget some people are fat as, so they will ruin a bed a lot quicker. Peer reviews are never great when you can't see the person who is giving the review… Especially for technology.!

      • +1

It also depends on many things, some people regard slightly softer spot or even the slightest depression as "sagging badly". lol. You can spend 5k on a new spring mattress and they will still do exactly the same thing.

      • Also can't rule out possible defective units. I've had 4 of these throughout my household. 3 of them held up well after 3+ years. 1 sag lately and I contacted them. Took several photos at their request and the mattress replaced after they asked me to make some changes to my bed slats.

    • +1

      Sags in around 1-2 yrs.

    • +1

Got a king firm. Last a little less than 2 years while taking decently good care of it (rotating every month). Bed started sagging and back started hurting from it, so decided to invest in a good sealy. For the price its definitely a bargain! Bed is still in the guest room.

  • +1

Yes. Bought 3 mattress for the past 10 years. They dont support my 100kg.
This one is perfect. Perfect new after 2 years. I recommend to all my friends.

    • It says free shipping to Metro. I know Sydney and Melbourne are covered, what about other cities?
I live in Brisbane Metro, and I think it is showing a $16+ for shipping.

  • I have the king, mattress is great. The cheap frame ($400) we bought sucks and I hate it so much. It squeaks ALL THE TIME.
Can anyone a great bed frame?

    • +2

I like ensembles, easy to move, no squeeks.

      • +1

        But no storage under them

      • Why easy to move? Ensembles cannot be dismantled, hard to transport?

    • +23

Maybe do it on the sofa?

    • My extended family now has three of the standard ZZZ atelier ensemble bed bases and are very happy with them, cheap, sturdy, no noises.

  • +4

We got the king and it’s probably not so bad for the money but really, the mattress is shit.

The middle where we don’t sleep feels great and there is a significant dip either side but the absurd amount of sag you need (I forget the figure) before they claim it’s a warranty defect is out of control.

Unless it’s for the spare room, save your money and buy a Koala or something.

    • How long did you have the mattress before it started sagging?

    • Unless it’s for the spare room, save your money and buy a Koala or something.

Exactly. Some things just aren't worth cheaping out on. I'm not suggesting going and spending $5k on a mattress but somewhere in the middle is the sweet spot. Plenty of well reviewed relatively cheap mattresses like Koala are only about 1k. You spend so long lying on your bed it is worth getting something decent.

Same goes for shoes and tyres. Basically anything that goes between you and the ground.

    • +1

      This this so much this

Also, the material makes us feel very HOT! Good for cold nights but sucks in the summer

Have had ours for 6 months, the sides we both sleep are sagged inward but the middle is perfect as new.

For the price, its ok, but wouldnt recommend it.

      • I get super hot too, my partner tells me to take the blanket off but I’m not hot on top, I’m hot UNDER me.

    • Lots of reports about a sagging Koala though..

  • I bought one early last year and another about a month ago, whilst they are similar to lay on the newer one is NOTICEABLY softer on the edges and especially the corners and I can barely sit on the sides at all. Not sure if they changed something in the manufacturing process or if there's variance somewhere but the recent one sucks. Both were bought from the same eBay listing and are the same size etc.

    • They definitely changed. The weight is very different to the originals.

  • +5

Would not recommend, it sags too much. Purchased 8 months ago.

    • +1

yea, firmness is 6.5, it just gets worst from there. i need a 9 or 10 firmness, because it will just get softer over time anyways.

    • +1

Unfortunately same experience, got a queen size early 2020. The edges sags ema lot.

  • I bought this a few weeks ago queen sized for $237.

But the mattress was shorter than the queen sized bed in length by like 5cm or something but otherwise it's a good mattress I think. Very firm.as one would want it to be

  • I Got a black label double from roughly halfway through 2019. It took me a long time to get used to it I'm talking like well over a year but it seems to do the job now I only get uncomfortable if I'm in the bed for an extreme amount of time

    • +1

Hahaha…….chuck it out and buy yourself something comfie.

      • I find it comfortable now I just went from sleeping on something really soft.
Something that was way too soft it was comfortable but it would hurt my back

  • firmness is 6.5 out of 10. i need at least 9 out of 10 to support my massive weight and huge muscles.

    great price though.

  • I bought this last year in November for the spare room at my parent’s house. I asked them to get a queen bed in the spare room (upgrade from the double) since my partner and I are sick of sleeping on the double bed.

Anyway, we got to test it out when we stayed with them over Christmas for almost two weeks. I liked it but my partner thought it was too firm! I’m about 100kg and my partner is about 60kg. I found it was firm but not hard - it has good support. Anyway, since my partner complained so much about it, we bought a thick mattress topper (Tontine Ultimate Loft) for the bed which improved our sleep. I’ve visited my parents again (partner didn’t come this time) for 10 days over Easter and the bed was still comfortable with the topper.

I find the edges don’t have much support so I can’t sleep too close to the edges or sit on the side of the bed.

Don’t skimp on a cheap mattress y’all…you will spend a third of your life on it !!

    • +2

Just because u pay $5000 for a mattress doesn’t make it good either. Plenty of example around. At least on this ur not tearing ur hair out

      • +3

Not cheaping out on a $300 mattress doesn't automatically mean you're spending $5k on one. There are heaps of quality options in the 1-2k range which IMO is completely acceptable.

        • For example?

    • +3

That's a very good marketing line exploited to rip off customers.

  • Had mine for around 2 years, no sag yet, still very comfy and for the price has done surprisingly well.
I'm over 100kg so thought I'd see serious problems but so far so good.
At this rate when I get more than 3 years out of a $300 mattress I'll be very happy.

  • Got one about 12 months ago. 100kgs+ . Wife and I both had back trouble. Couple of nights with this and no more issues. Comfy no sag. Got the black chiropractic in King.

  • Could have just gotten the aldi one. Cheaper than these and same stuff. Pocket spring + foam.

    • No free ship tho. Makes all the difference

      • Idk. Last time I ordered something they said they needed someone to help lift the item off the truck. Not all free shipping is made equal.

  • Well , after reading all of these posts does anyone have a BETTER OPTION to buy please ?
Chasing king mattress , need medium to
    Firm back support for
    Partner and I .
Need it delivered to Perth metro

Choice says Art & Science Silver is their top rated mattress. From Sleeping Giant/James Lane.

      • +3

We bought the A&S platinum. The silver is very comparable to this mattress.

        The platinum is absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

We compared it to a $8000 Sealy and it was more comfortable. Just top quality. The platinum isn't a bed in a box though. King size is usually around $1300.

        • We Just bought the Plat+ Balance Comfort for $1400 + $80 shipping. Very happy over ZZZ.

        • How long have you had it for? Does it sag?

          What is the firmness?

      • +1

        What else did choice recommend?

Edit: i didn't realise the Silver's started at $499 for queen, great price.

    • I originally bought a single zzz mattress 4 years ago and really liked it. It held up well for 3 years before I sold it and upgraded to a queen. The queen was initially okay but had some massive sag after a couple of months to the point if you put something on the bed, it would roll towards where I sleep.

I went through a pretty annoying warranty process and they eventually picked it up and refunded me. I waited for a tontine mattress 50% off deal and really like it. It's more firm and has lasted me a year so far with absolutely no signs of wear. They were on the choice list even at rrp but at half price, they're excellent.

      • How much did u get from selling your three year old mattress? Half of what you paid for?

        • Oh, I sold it as part of a moving sale so probably like 20% if that

I just bought the above Super firm Mattress. Giselle brand. It's very good.

  • +2

Absolutely Not worth it… had this one in King.. Spring system is not very supportive which is sagging and submerge the individual… I’ve stuffed up my back because of this..

  • The mattress is only good for 3 years and you'll toss it. If you're a heavier person, don't waste your money.

    • Single will last longer than Q or K.

      • I had the King and it bowed like a banana in the middle after 3 years. Not sure with the single. They're good for a temporary mattress before you buy the real thing.

        • The smaller ones are better. I’ve bought 3 around 2 years ago and they r really good. 2 of my kids sleep on them. Really comfortable. Had “real thing” mattress before and they were not as good so not sure u know what ur talking about but can’t vouch for king size.

  • +1

Had mine for a couple of years - significant sag in the middle. Still not bad value for what you’re paying, but just keep in mind it’s not going to hold its shape for all that long and know what you’re getting.

  • Perfect kids mattress. I wouldn’t pay more than $150 which will end up getting peed on.

  • Would king single size fit on a single bed frame? It will be coming off obviously but would it be so annoying ?

    • +1

No the length is longer. The width is the same

      • I have KS on a single frame. It is both wider and longer. If you sleep in the middle it is fine.
I sleep on the edge though so I align one side edge and have about 10-15cm overhang on the side I don't sleep on. It works fine for me.

  • I've ordered the firm one this time, as the one I got a few years ago is definitely a bit shagged.

  • I love my mattress!

  • Anyone know if they remove old mattress for free?

    • They use a courier service which may actually just leave the mattress at your door so I would say not.

    • Just give it away for free on gumtree or Facebook market? You'll get rid of it in a few days.

  • So giselle or this? Or any other brand at this price range?

    • IKEA?

  • I have the old version. Can anyone comment on how this one rates compared to the old 5 Zone Version. Is it worth upgrading? Only real complaint I have is that it gets very hot in summer. Has this improved?

    • The new one will not be as good.

    • The old one was the best.

  • +3

    Sounds like:
A bad mattress that doesn't last.
    Waste of resources and money.
    No support from sellers.
15 year warranty is clearly b/s
    Steer clear.

    • Yep

    • Their warranty and support is bad and almost non existent. Read the warranty terms, it's nearly impossible to claim due to all the stipulations.

      • Ur protected by Consumer law. Pay by PayPal and u’ll be fine

      • +2

Mate, if your mattress is faulty you should try to contact them. I just got a replacement not long ago. They send you a list of photos to take. Just make sure you take them like they ask and it will be fine. Don't try to be creative when preparing the photos. They'll just come back to ask for the same photo again. Mine didn't even reach their stated indentation level and they were OK with sending me a new one. Unfortunately for online mattress companies we will have to go through the photo processes. They don't send staff to inspect on site.

        • Cheers, I'll try again.

    • Don’t listen to these idiots. They just sour they pay 20X more for a slightly better mattress. I wouldn’t get the king size but the smaller sizes are pretty good especially for kids / teenagers.

      • I have to agree. These are great for younger children. Anyone under 30kg won't have an Issue.

I would recommend a King Single as you'll get many years out of it then. An ensemble will probably be $300 alone as well

  • I regret not paying more for a more comfortable product, but it is cheap.

  • +2

This is a rubbish mattress. When you eventually start getting backpain from the sag (that's a when, not an if) forget about warranty because the seller will just ignore you and there won't be shit you can do.

  • +1

I had purchased the old model 4 or 5 years ago and it has developed the sagging everyone else talks about. It has been the most comfortable mattress i've ever owned however. I had no hesitation about buying another one to replace it as for the price it's fantastic value.

    • I agree. Exactly the same for me.
