  • Happy with the quality, paid $15, would have paid $30 at least.

    • Paid $13.81?

      • +6

Last deal, I meant to say. But you made me check, was $14.97.

  • Great price

  • +1

Bought the Pro Backpack from the previous deal and it's perfect for storing my laptop and my other stuff.

    • +1

Great to know I just purchased it, and also the lite one! Can’t wait to replace my Fila back lol

  • +3

Does it give out the I have an expensive laptop in this bag look?

    • +1

Not really, more a a subtle than showoff bag.

  • +6

I have the 2 cheaper backpacks listed above, they're both worth significantly more than the asking price.
But the Dell Gaming Lite Backpack 17 is no bigger than the Dell Essential Backpack 15 even though it's meant to be able to accommodate a laptop that's 2" larger,
but as I don't have a 17" laptop it's not an issue for me. I highly recommend either of these laptop bags.

    • Which one do you perfer out of the two you have?

      • +73

The Dell Gaming Lite Backpack 17 looks more premium and flashier with the red trim. It does have more padding, particularly on the back. The material is shinier and stiffer, making it more difficult to get into the smaller pockets. I've measured the pocket for the laptop, both backpacks laptop pockets are exactly 310mm wide.

The Dell Essential Backpack 15 has a matt finish, more subtle and soft, the drink bottle holder is slightly deeper, good for walking or riding, less likely to fall out. Because it's softer (and thinner) it opens easier therefore it's easier to look for stuff inside the bag. The backpack straps and handgrip at the top feel a little thinner, but not cheap, I've carried heaps of groceries in it on my bike, as in 8kg+ without feeling that it's going to tear or fall apart. I've had this backpack for almost 2 years and it regularly gets a good workout.

When you lay both backpacks empty and flat the 15" is slightly wider. The The Dell Gaming Lite Backpack 17 is the backpack that's more likely to get stolen with it's flashy bright red Dell logo, thieves are going to think there's got to be something good in there.

In summary I like the Dell Essentials 15" as the workhorse, I take it camping or bike riding and cram it with stuff.
I go to work with the Dell Gaming Lite Backpack 17" as it looks a bit nicer.

        • +4

          Solid review. Thank you.

    • +1

The 17” pro says it has more padding, have you noticed that?

      • +10

Yes it does have a bit more padding, particularly on the back, but the bottom doesn't have any more padding than the other bag,
BTW I gave a detailed review above if you want to read it.

  • Thanks for this.

  • +2

I like how it’s clear where the coupon should go in the purchase process.

    Cheers OP

  • Thanks for posting the deal.

    Tigernu any day

  • Anyone know if the backpack 15 can fit a 16 inch Mac book pro?

    • It would cos Mac has thin bezels, but I'd go for the 17' Pro

  • thank you, OP.
    I bought the 15" one.

  • Can anyone comment on the size of the 15' any good?

    • +1

Size is good, bit lacking for me in pockets so I prefer my Pro 17

  • Thanks OP - got the 17" lite.
After reading one of the comments above, I'm hoping it actually fits a 17" laptop.

  • Thanks OP need a good bag to lug around the Legion 5 Pro.

  • I got one of these and the zippers broke off.
One of the zipper body's actually broke apart

    • Which one?

    • +5

Did you try a warranty claim? The site says that they have a 3 year warranty?

  • +5

Also the sleeves are good value too. i.e Dell Essential Sleeve 15. $9.76 with code kong7 (save $20.24)
    https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-essential-sleeve-15/apd…

  • thx got the 15"

    got Essential Backpack last time
    a bit of small

  • +10

Dell Gaming Backpack 17– GM1720PM $36.14 (was $111.01) - has been cheaper in the past but still a good option

    • +1

Good find. Have added it to the OP.👍

    • What is the cheapest you've seen this one?

    • Dagogo?

    • I have this bag…

It has built-in rain cover and also chest strap. The reflective details at the back aren't that visible but i think this is a great bag for cycling.

  • +3

I bought the Essential Backpack 15 on the last deal and really happy with it. Good materials, good quality, and perfect for lugging my laptop and stuff to and from work as now I work 2 days in the office and 3 from home. Looks sharp too, low profile. Highly recommend.

  • Thanks OP!

  • is there enough room for 15"laptop + textbook or two? OR is it more laptop plus some small stuff like wallet and pens?

    • +1

You’d fit a couple of text books in. Front pocket would hold pens etc

  • Thanks op, needed a new laptop bag

  • Thanks OP good find!

  • +11

    did I need one? nope.
did I get one? yup, got two.

  • Thanks, too cheap to pass up as my next replacement. Thanks for the in-depth reviews as well people

  • i am undecided between the gaming lite backpack and the standard one here https://deals.dell.com/en-au/productdetail/8nfa

does anyone own the standard one and know if its any good?

    • The lite is good for its price but it's fairly featureless but saying that it has done its job well for the past 12 months. I've just bought two standard ones myself, for the extra you get more padding, a rain cover, luggage straps and a wide mouth opening.

      • +1

Thanks! i just got the standard one for the extra stuff as it's pretty cheap for $38

  • Really like Dell Pro Hybrid Briefcase Backpack 15 for $54 (16/4/21).

  • Thanks OP … exactly what I needed for a price you just cannot argue with !

  • Purchased 2 gaming lite backpacks, one will be used as a laptop bag, the other just general stuff :P

  • Thanks for posting this deal. Great price with it including the shipping.

I bought the middle one as an upcoming present for my son to carry a gaming laptop in. I didn't like the reviews on the Dell site for the first, cheapest laptop bag, so people thinking of buying it should check out those reviews. The reviews on the 2nd bag are better.

    • +1

I didn't like the reviews on the Dell site for the first, cheapest laptop bag, so people thinking of buying it should check out those reviews.

What didn't you like about them?

      • Compare the sub-5 star vote percentages to those of the middle bag.

Read some of the 1 to 3 star reviews. See the photo showing how the bag doesn't keep its shape and looks like a blob.

        • +1

Yeah. I saw a lot of whinging about the positioning of the back straps but I see that as a feature (more secure and keeps the laptop at your back.

Also a bit about the odd broken zipper but the thing has 3 years warranty so meh.

There was also a complaint about it being a softshell but, again, feature for me.

Was there anything in particular that you spotted that raised an eyebrow or three?

          • @the discombobulated panda: Softshell is essential for travelling light to keep weight down. I only travel with hand luggage domestic

  • I bought 17" pro. Thanks

  • +3

Excellent deal, thanks OP. I bought the 15 last time. Have bought a few backpacks from Banggood lately and they're almost always crap due to the useless zippers they use which jam up, but these Dell bags are about the same price and are much, much better quality.

  • +1

For $13.81 delivered, I grabbed the basic one as an alternative option to my messenger style bags. Great price.

    • I think that you forgot to apply the coupon. It's $12.84 with.

    • +2

:( we both forgot to use the code! haha

    • I just had a moment and wondered where my bag was…
I don't have a confirmation email that I can find in my email box, my Dell account doesn't seem to have anything and none of my accounts seem to show a transaction on or about the 8th of May….

Looks like maybe I've screwed up here and not finalised the transaction somehow. Sucks to be me I suppose :P

  • +1

In between 17 Lite and 17 Pro there is https://deals.dell.com/en-au/productdetail/8nfa, $38.85 (65% off before coupon)

    • does the Dell gaming backpack 17 - fit laptop + lunch box and some books?

  • +1

How do these backpacks compare to similarly priced backpacks in Amazon? Like this one: https://www.amazon.com.au/KROSER-Backpack-Computer-Water-Rep…

    • +3

The price doesn't compare with the $13 or $20 ones in this deal, but the reviews seem good, do they seem like better value.

  • For Pro Backpack 17" $55.14, why does the webpage show $59.29?

    • Have you applied the coupon?

  • +1

Dell Gaming Backpack vs Dell Pro Backpack 17? Which one can fit more?

  • +1

Got the 15" and the Pro from the last deal. Both are very good for the price.
15" as the daily option and Pro for when you need to fit a little more in.

  • Thank you OP. Grabbed one Essential for my upcoming course commence in the next 2 weeks.

  • was gonna grab the backpack 15, but just realised i don't really have a good backpack to take on flights…thoughts? Is there much difference?

  • Bought the Pro one. Don't forget cashback fella tightarses.

    • cashback wont work on this if you use the coupon listed

Kit - Dell Essential Backpack 15 - ES1520P - Fits most laptops up to 15" (not for Pakistan) - SnP

Do Pakistans wear a different type of backpack, or are their laptop measurements different?
